Hi, I have white coat hypertension. Has anyone on the board tried taking Lisinopril, or another ACE Inhibitor to deal with BP spikes. I have read that discontinuing it does not cause BP rebound, so it seems that it could be used for dealing with brief episodes of high BP without essential hypertension. I wanted to find out because the drug side-effects being too severe, serious and numerous make it virtually impossible to take it on a regular basis. Many thanks. ## There are many natural alternatives for blood pressure control, that in my opinion can be more effective than prescription medication if taken seriously. So no, I don't think hypertension requires any sort of medication for life as long as you're eating right, exercising daily, and living in an otherwise stress free e...

Hi, I have been on Lisinopril 20mg for ~5 months. 10 days ago I started getting severe dizziness, causing constant balance problems as a result. My question is, whether the dizziness could be a sign of other underlying heart problems also caused by the drug. I have had arrhythmias since the time I started on it. But recently the dizziness and, leg muscle stiffness has become very severe. Should I get a holter test done? Many thanks.

What is the name for Lisinopril/Hydrochlorothiaz TAB 12.5 in Mexico? ## Wow! That's a tough one, because it is Mexico and their medication regulation is virtually non-existent. If you are visiting and looking for a needed medication, your best bet is to just ask for via these generic names, Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide, then just specify that you're looking for a combination medication. Learn more Zestoretic details here. In most cases, from what I've found, the Spanish names used there for the generic medications are very similar, so you likely won't have a problem getting help finding it from a druggist. I am using Loprin 75 for the last 5 years. I am also using Lisinopril/HCTZ 20 mg ( for blood pressure) and Lipitor 20 mg (for Chloesterol) regularly. In USA Aspirin (NSAID) is available in 81 mg. Can I use this in place of Loprin 75 mg. ?? ## Hello Qamar, Based on my research there are potentially unsafe interactions between Aspirin and Lisinopril/HCTZ. I was told that Lisinopril WAS in the same ACE Inhibitor Class of Blood Pressure Medications, as Enalapril. Is that True, and how Comparable are they, to take, in regard to Doseage and Frequency? Thanks. ## Yes, they are both ACE inhibitors, the pril on the end of the drug name actually designates that. And Enalapril is actually twice as strong as Lisinopril, so you'd need to take twice as much Lisinopril to equal whatever dosage you were taking of the Enalapril. IE: 2.5mgs Enalapril = 5mgs Lisinopril 5mgs Enalapril = 10mgs Lisinopril and so on. Learn more Enalapril details here. Learn more Lisinopril details here. Will Lisinopril compromise my immune system? ## No, Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that's commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Since it is used for cardiac patients, it would be dangerous to give them a medication that would compromise their immune system. On the contrary, our doctors are usually trying to do all they can to bolster our immune systems, because it can be very dangerous if they are weak and we get sick easily. ...trust me, my arm is still sore from all my recent inoculations! :-) Learn more Lisinopril details here. I have been taking Benazepril 10 mg for a while, and my doctor has changed me to Lisinopril but the new dosage is 40 mg, is this dosage comparable to the Benazepril or is this an increase in dosage? ## From what I can tell, it's a slight increase and the equivalent dosage would be around 25 to 35mgs, however, the switching of the medications also has to be taken under consideration. When you stop one of these abruptly and switch to another one, even one that's still in the same class, as was done here, there can be redound effects to your blood pressure, making it climb higher, so your doctor may have increased the dosage slightly to try to help control this. These are both ACE Inhibitors, so the side effects should be similar and may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and dr...
