Is there a possibility that my taking lipitor while taking nitrofur macr for a UTI is the reason I am having so much negative reaction to the nitrofur macr? ## Hi Esther, My findings state that there are in fact unsafe interactions between Lipitor and Nitro Macro. Posted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "MONITOR: The risk of peripheral neuropathy may be increased during concurrent use of two or more agents that are associated with this adverse effect. I take Lipitor (now Atorvastatin generic) and Atenelol on a daily basis. I always take pills out of PX. bottles and put into special container away from children. As there are many generics around, I have mixed up my pills and I now have a white oval shaped (almost flat) pill and I do not know for which it is a substitute. Silly I know but if anyone one knows of a substititute for either of these drugs that comes as described above without any markings whatever, please let me know. ## It's not a prescription tablet, all such tablets dispensed in the U.S. have to have imprints to enable their identification. Thus, it's likely an over the counter product. Learn more prescription drug details here. What OTC products have you been taking recently? ## Thank you - that was indeed my t...

Put on statins in 2009 (first Zocor, then Lipitor). In June 2012 had severe episode of heart palpitations and chest tightness (ended up in ER). Had EKG, chest x-ray, blood tests -- all normal. But chest tightness, lightheadedness and fatigue symptoms continued for days. After cardiologist visit (including stress test) found no problems with heart, returned to regular doctor for more blood work. Found nothing... Then based on my own online research I found my symptoms matched up with Lipitor side effects. Stopped Lipitor first week of July... chest tightness and fatigue symptoms are now gone but lightheadedness continues. After more online research, I have begun taking CoQ10 and Milk Thistle this week. No improvement yet. Anyone with similar experiences? How long does it take for the bod...

I wake up with terrible muscle pain and run a fever and get cold shivers at night. The same simptoms I had when I got tick bite fever. I have just realised that it may be this medication. I also now get constipated. It is not a pleasant experience at all. I took Lipitor previously about 7 or 8 years ago and my liver was affected, so much so that I ended up in hospital with a complete blackout, did not even now the ambulance took me to hospital. I came round after about 3 hours in the hospital. at the time I started vomitting and my tummy was running. Since then I stopped taking anything for my high ch olestrol, I went for a check up for something else and the doctor discovered that my cholestrol was 10.7. But with these side effects I am cannot continue to take it. Why I have a suspicio...

I ordered Lipitor (20) from Comitic Global Caplet. When the pills came, they were red oxide instead of white like they are in the United States. I need to know if this is the same LIPITOR/ATORVASTATIN that I get in the United States. ## I am sorry, but I really can't check them for you, without knowing the markings on the tablets. Can you please post back with more information? From what I finding this is a foreign manufacturer, so they may not be FDA approved products.

My husband has recently started taking 20 mg lipitor and is experiencing severe joint discomfort after that .Doctor has advised to lower the dose to 10mg .How can we cope with this,if anyone has experienced the same. ## Lipitor contains the active ingredient Atorvastatin, which is used to help lower cholesterol. The joint/muscle aches are very common side effects of this class of medications and in some people they are so severe that they have to discontinue use of the medication and try something else. Lowering the dose may help, but it could still take several weeks for those effects to taper off. Did his doctor suggest anything else he could use in the meantime to alleviate it? ## Thanks for the insight...his doctor has asked to stop that ,as according to him any other statin can cau...

Can I take this med.with Lipitor, carvadilol, losartan,,levothroxine, anastrozola I take all of these everyday in the morning and my blood pressure drops like 68/46 my age is 75 yrs I am dizzy and tires all the time Thank you ## I'm sorry, but I can't find anything specific listed under the name Medicans, other than that it refers to over the counter herbal treatments. Is there a specific product you are referring to? A blood pressure reading like that is very low and, if it is causing you symptoms, then something should be done about it. Have you discussed it with your doctor? Both the Carvedilol and the Losartan that you are taking can lower blood pressure and it seems, they are lowering it too much. There are two possible reasons, one could be that the dosage is too high, so you...

I have been experiencing aches and pains since starting Lipitor. Is this normal? ## Hi rob - Lipitor lists several side effects related to what you are experiencing. Headaches are the most common, along with possible chest / abdominal pain or arthritis in less than 10% of users. You can see the full list on the page for . If these continue then I would recommend that you report them to your prescribing physician ASAP, as they may decide to switch your medication or dosage. Hope this helps and good luck!

I wonder if it could be a medication. Lipitor, gemfibrozil, vit d, cymbalta, Kapidex. I have reflux. ## this site is not medical professionals, we cannot give you a definitive reason for the burning, nor a diagnosis or treatment. It can sometimes be caused by medications, but other things, such as eating the wrong foods or a vitamin deficiency can also cause it. Nothing on your list here is known to normall cause this problem, but it is always possible. Have you contacted your doctor, yet?
