Life After Suboxone? (Top voted first)

Updated

So I quit opiates on my own and chose suboxone to help with pain... fast forward a few yrs and ive learned its actually fibromyalgia and herniated discs and arthritis giving me all of the pain. Problem now, drs keep passing me off to other drs. Nobody will help me. Im tired of being treated in a poor manner when im in massive pain and can hardly move or walk. I don't know what to do anymore.

Where you taking Suboxone from an addiction treatment doctor? If so, then that would explain the problem. Doctors are going toe very reluctant to prescribe anything for someone that has an addiction issue listed in their medical records.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

What type of doctors have you been seeing? That might be another issue, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such medications for the long-term ongoing treatment of chronic pain, you'll need to see a pain management specialist.

Do you have a PCP that you see regularly that might be able to refer you to someone that will help?

Can anyone recommend a good doctor in Florida?

I saw an internal specialist that offered the suboxone program. My pcp referred me to pain management for an mri. I got a letter from them however stating my UA shows inconsistency w prescribed meds so they can only offer inj's. and refer me to detox? I went back to internal med dr who asked if I need help controlling pain. I said VERY MUCH SO... and got butrans patch which state wont cover. So now, after nearly 6 months... im no closer to relief and pain increasing drastically. I have days I can't move!g

Verwon....where are you getting your info on having to HAVE TO BE in the care of a PM doc to be prescribed meds for chronic pain? I have told you this before that THAT is not true! Your primary care doctor can treat you with narcotics on an ongoing basis if they so choose. As a pain patient AND a medical professional, I know this is fact and what you are claiming is false. Not everyone need a pain management facility nor do the need a pain specialist! Please, before giving information, make sure you are correct. I am not trying to be snotty but I have told this to you directly a few times and you continue to give false information! The majority of big name clinics prefer a person go into a pain management program and many of them will not treat chronic pain anymore, but that in NO WAY indicates you cannot receive narcotic medications from your PCP! People do it every day!

Tracy, do you know why a DR. would give you a UA after you had been seeing him for years? I have a problem now cuz I came up pos. for methamphetamine. I use this not to feel high but to get energy to function. No one had ordered this so why would he do this? Now I'm going to have to change doctors.

Here in Florida its standard procedure to do a UA at each visit. I can usually cry my way out of it when I come up positive for other substances. Explain to the dr u lack energy etc. Mine diagnosed me w/ fibromyalgia after I still felt poorly with treatment. Just my 2 cents
