Hi everyone, I am curious if anyone has experienced intermittent vision loss while being on levothyroxine. For about two months now my vision in my left eye will randomly disappear for 2-3 seconds and then slowly dissipate back to normal. I've been through a litany of exams -- retinal, cardiovascular, MRI/MRA -- that are all coming back clear and now we're wondering if it could be the medications I am on. Why are woman prescribed levothyroxine more often than men? ## Women are the ones that most commonly develop thyroid issues, at least according to NIH studies, though I supposed it is possible that they may also just see a doctor more often and end up being diagnosed more than men. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, and hair loss. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've taken this drug for sometime now, or at least one with a very similar look. Originally I had to be represcribed Levoxyl because of a DYE used in mfg.that made me itch profusely. I have taken levothyroxine for eleven months starting 25ml rising to 75ml I have gone from bad to hell I can no longer believe this is doing me anything but harm ,the high blood pressure the cramps to legs buttocks hands to name but a few ,the feeling of choking lack of air it's driving me mad . I have never been a pill taker I had watched my mother sink under 30+pills a day to renal failure to withdrawing herself from dialysis . Hi everyone, I'm a sufferer from hypothyroidism; I was just wondering about how to take Levothyroxine; because I began taking it as one tablet of 25mcg....working up to two...then three...and then finally four 25mcg tablets, at which point a blood test told me through my doctor, that my thyroid was now apparently working well. I figured it would be OK for me now to take just one tablet, of 100mcg, rather than four ( was given a choice of both types). So once my 25mcg tablets started running to run out, that's what I did. However, whether I imagined it or not, I found myself happier on the four X 25mcg than the one X 100mcg. Is this normal? Should I worry? I have had a total thyroidectomy in January. After several months and testing I have gone from 100mcg down to 50mcg. I am told that means that there has to be some thyroid tissue remaining. I have gained weight almost 10 pounds, watch what I eat and am on the treadmill 45 minutes a day 7 days a week. I have hot flashes and night sweats multiple times a day. I don't feel so confused anymore. Now I know all of you are going through the same thing. My doctor put me on 50mcg of Levothyroxine about a month ago and I have gain 8 pounds! I get short-breathed and winded REALLY easily when working out. I used to go to the gym for 2 hours, now I can't make it longer than 30 minutes. I wake up ALL the time with tingly fingers because my hands have fallen asleep. I have headaches, I feel 100 times more lazy than before...and it's supposed to help your energy, not drain it. Hi. My brother had a heart operation and after that his doctor prescribed him sumapen 250mg as a maintenance antibiotic so he can avoid any infection or any complications... I heard taking antibiotics for so long makes your body resistant to it. ## While that can be true, it would be far more dangerous, at this point, for him to stop taking it and not follow his doctor's instructions. It really just means that in the future, if he develops an infection, they will most likely have to give him a different antibiotic to eradicate it. I have hypothyroidism, is clearly that i have weight loss problems, my doctor prescribe to me levothyroxine88 mg but instead of loosing i keep gaining weight. My question is anyone knows if i can take fruta planta without any problems while im in this medication? ## Is your doctor checking your thyroid hormone levels regularly?
