Levosulpride Vs Levosulpiride For Treatment Of Acidity (Top voted first)

Hi,
Recently my mother was prescribed Livpride -25 by doctor for treatment of acidity.
When we purchased the drug from chemist, we got Sulpride-25 containint Levosulpride salt. As the name was different, I checked over net and found that a drug with very similar name of salt(Levosulpiride) was an anti psychotic drug. So i went back to the chemist, checking whats wrong, and was given Livpride-25 which has Levosulpiride and was told that it was the actual prescription.
Now I want to know which one of them if any is actually related to the treatment of acidity??

so y is levosulpiride not used in the US? is it really a harmful drug? wht abt a medicine called Kinpride composition of Cinitapride? used for acid reflux etc? is it safe or harmful?

My doctor has prescribed for bloating Razol L which has Levosulpiride 75 mg. & Raberprazole 20 mg. I take bottle of beer everyday & I drive too. What side effects if any I may encounter. Is it safe. Pl reply immdtly. Thnks.

I cough and constantly clear my throat and experience a light chest pain which my Dr says is due to GERD (acidity) what would b the best prescription? Pantocid HP which contains clarythromycin, amoxycillin, and pantoprazole or levosulpiride with rabeprazole.

The one you mentioned Levosulpride is actually just a misspelling, the correct drug name is Levosulpiride and it has several medical uses, as well as being an antipsychotic.

It also acts as a prokinetic agent, so it enhances gastrointestinal motility and can treat problems such as bloating, heartburn, IBS, gastritis and GERD.

Shuttu, Lesuride also contains Levosulpiride.

As to the possible side effects, they can include weight changes, dizziness, dry mouth and orthostatic hypotension.

Since it can cause the hypotension, I have to assume that it does have some type of effect on blood flow, which means it could also affect the heart, but since it isn't used in the U.S., I can't find any specific information.

Levosulpiride has also antipsycoses effect and also used as a prokinetic agent in reflux esophagitis ets

Levosulpride is also gastrokinetic
So can be used to reduce fullness of stomach as well can reduce acidity of stom5too

Lesuride is used for treatment of acidity or reflux. does it hv any side effects ? esp on the heart.?

yes madhav,acidity may produce cough and laryngitis..levosulpiride with rabeprazole is a good option without any side effects.
even you can give domeperidone with pantoprazole.
