Leading Pharma Lorazepam Reviews (Top voted first)
UpdatedI am really confused about everyone's posts concerning the leading brand Lorazepam. I have been taking the generic form of Lorazepam 2mg for 25 years. I've used every kind, from Watson to the current leading one. It appears that the sugary taste is the primary issue for everyone here.
The amount of negative reviews about this company is absurd. They are no different than any other generic Lorazepam; they work the same. The only difference in this pill is the inactive ingredient, which contains potassium, and that's why the pill tastes like sugar.
However, my point is, if you are a long-term user of benzos, you would have all ended up withdrawing and possibly seizing if the pill really didn't contain the main ingredient. The ER doctor would have been the first to report this pharmacy if your illness had anything to do with it. A negative review does nothing to persuade a discontinued manufacturer to bring back the generic form that any of us got comfortable with.
A Lorazepam is a Lorazepam, and the Leading Pharma Lorazepam is the same as any Lorazepam. It functions just like the rest.
You must work for the manufacturer. The Generic equivalent is not an equivalent. The active ingredient is allowed to have 15-20% less. If 20% of your paycheck was taken away would you be ok with that? People just want something that works.
That’s false. They are not all the same. Been on lorazepam for 21 years. Mylan, leading, maybe Teva. The rest garbage
I have been on some form of generic Lorazepam for about 10 years. I really didn't notice the manufacturer until 2 months ago when I picked up my pills and they were like 2-3 times the thickness of the regular pills I was used to. Then I noticed that 1 - 2mg pill wasn't helping me sleep, then I took 2 - 2mg to sleep and that didn't help either (the pills were from Leading Pharma). I suffered through a few weeks until I could reorder (I get 60 a month) and when I refilled it it was the same one again. I called the pharmacy right away and they were able to order the old one and switched the pills out to (Actavis/Teva). This month the pharmacist is telling me they can no longer order the Actavis/Teva one anymore. I don't know what I am going to do - I am having anxiety over my anxiety medication - how ironic. I am calling my doctor to see what they suggest. I thought it was just me but I am thankful I found this post and read all of your comments. Thank you.
I’ve been on 1 mg lorazepam about 10 years. I recently switched pharmacies and was given Leading/Major Pharma brand. They DO NOT work. I’ve had Watson in the past and never had a problem. Leading Pharma is GARBAGE and now I’m left with a benzo that I have to take double for any kind of effect. Do not buy this crap.
Glad that all those generics have worked for you for 25 years. So many of us find certain generics ineffective. Only Watson has been effective for me, I don’t even have a second choice and can only find one pharmacy that carries Watson.
I was so effected but the side effects of Leading I filed a complaint with the FDA. The other brands are running out because people are requesting anything besides Leading. So Leading is the only brand available. I would bet it’s a sugar pill. Must be the way my body absorbs this particular brand.
Re: william (# 5)
Sorry william but have been on lorazapam for 25 years, they are not anywhere the same, Sandoz is out of the lorazapam business because they are watered down with fillers so that their product was as useless as a water pill. Watson was purchased by teva, they now have a watered down version by way of fillers compared to the original watson brand.
Leading pharma is crap. It doesn’t work at all. I was up all night, because they don’t work for me. It’s sad that Mylan stopped producing their generic. They worked great. I was on them for 20 years without issue until they stopped making them in 2019 I believe. I’d do anything to get the generic’s Mylan made. I’m writing a complaint to the FDA regarding the Leading brand. They need to test them. I don’t think there is hardly any active ingredient. Such a shame that patients with anxiety now have anxiety, because they can’t get their medication.
Re: william (# 5)
Can you explain why if they are all the same generic that I could take 4mg of Mylar generic and feel relaxed and carry on with my day but with Watson and Activis I can’t? I already did a blind placebo test for 3 weeks. As you can read in my previous post. When will Mylan come back!!! Why did they discontinue making lorazepam? Why?
Re: William (# 8)
That’s BS, lots of generics suck real bad.
Some make you physically sick. All the jobs that come from China India USA doesn’t make anything. Some generic I got last year was full of carcinogens, I think it was Aurobindo.
Re: BMn (# 38)
I was told that Teva bought the Watson brand and they no longer make Watson. They don’t make it anymore. Teva swears that it has the same inactive/active ingredients, but after taking Watson for years, I can tell that Teva isn’t the same. I take it for a digestive disorder & anxiety, Teva doesn’t seem as effective as Watson. What is working for you?
Re: BMn (# 38)
Watson did not give me any bad reaction. It actually has helped me the most out of the brands that they have switched over the years. Are you having any luck with Watson? I’m curious how your city has them but there are no places have it’s where I live. Only Teva and Leading
I agree. Have been on Ativan daily for 10 years everyday. I started with Mylan which was great. After a few years they discontinued Mylan and I freaked out, What am I going to do? all the other brands suck, yes its true - they may contain lorazepam but the way the fillers aka cuts react with the drug and your body will make it less effective or more effective. Its not placebo. Leading is basically taking nothing, I tried one day and was literally like taking nothing at all. I went to Watson for a while and worked OK not as good as Mylan but still worked good enough. NOW TEVA bought Watson aka Actavis and the TEVA pills make me so exhausted I can barely walk, they dont do much for me but make me tired, and give me the chills and generally I feel ill, I honestly dont know what to do - I have 1 bottle of Watsons left and that's it - pharmacy said only TEVA or Major or Leading. Major and leading both suck, they dont do a anything...We will just have to wait until a new one comes out?
Re: BMn (# 33)
Yes. My insurance company required I try all the benzos in the class before they my would agree to cover the brand name lorazepam (Ativan) and while the 2 months I was trying the others — klonopin, Valium, and a few others, about 2 weeks on each one (each of the having different sucky side effects), I finally did get the insurance to cover the brand name. My doctor was really great in helping me do this and submitting info to the insurance company. It has made a huge difference for me but maybe that doesn’t do it for everyone.
Re: Bjn (# 9)
So I guess it’s the individual response to these generics. Give me your leading pharma and I’ll give you my Watson’s :) Mylan was still and will always be the best
Re: william (# 5)
Sorry but just getting approval means nothing. The fda doesn't go back after the approval to make sure its still making it the same way it did when it got approval. Sandoz thought they could put out garbage after buying lorazepam from actavis over 8 years ago. The pills were nothing but sugar pills. They were so sure the public would buy any garbage they put out but people quit buying their garbage. I am happy to say that this year sandoz went out of the lorazepam business, unable to fool the public any more, they no longer manufacture lorazepam.
I don’t believe that it works as well. I have been taking lorazepam for 6 years and can tell the difference.
Re: Optimistic (# 29)
my understanding is that the generic has to be at least 80% of the name brand, most if not all lorazepam makers no doubt dont meet 50%,
Re: William (# 8)
If any one is full of bs its you, people will take a medication for years with the same results then one day it has no effect (like when sandoz bought actavis), the two companies tried to say it was still the same product, that's garbage, your body tells you other wise, there was a change made and no doubt the new product is cheaper to make.
The new teva has changed and you will hear a few say that its the same, bs, if its the same why did they change the size of the tablet, been on this medication for over 33 years and until about 9 years ago we never talked about this issue but companies go out and buy other companies drugs so they can cheapen the product to make more money. there is no law that a company who buys another companies product must change the formula, but they do when it comes to lorazepam.
Re: BMn (# 38)
Did you like the leading brand better? I just got leading generic ativan instead of aurobindo. Aurobindo was garbage.
