How long do the side effects (such as vomiting) last? My husband just started taking this drug and is feeling sick. ## Typically, according to the U.S. FDA, side effects may last about 4 to 5 weeks, until one becomes used to the medication. He may also experience dizziness, headache stomach pain, and flatulence. How is he feeling, now? Has there been any change? Is he on any other medications? ## After only one tablet of Lansoprazole, within a half hour I experienced serious anaphylaxis. It took years for me to find out that Polyethylene Glycol which it contains is a laxative for someone with malabsorption problems; a definite no no. I check every medication for it now. Even Pfizer and Moderna vaccines contain it, so doctors wouldn't give me those. I had Astrazeneca without any prob...
2 REPLIES UpdatedStats: Male, 33. Bigger guy, 6'2 265. Gallbladder removed in 2007. Other conditions include sleep apnea/social anxiety, some neck and shoulder tension from a lot of computer work. Otherwise decent health overall. Hello to anyone who thinks they can help!! I have been on 30mg Lansoprazole for the last 3-4 years (prescribed) because I had my gallbladder removed in 2007 and had a slew of stomach issues for the first 5 or so years since the surgery, most of which was caused by increased acid. Lans was a godsend drug at first, but over time I started noticing that it seemed to sometimes make me feel weird or give me an upset stomach. Over the last few months I have really been improving my diet and eating better and noticed I was getting less and less acid and indigestion. Because my ins...

The FDA lists the typical side effects of Lansoprazole as possibly including nausea, dizziness, bloating, acne, skin rash, and fatigue. Ref: Lansoprazole Information How long does it last? I get a nasty chemical smell coming from my throat. And thank you so ...
3 REPLIES UpdatedCan Lansoprazole be taken by my dog for acid reflux? ## I would NOT give lansoprazole/prevacid to your dog unless a veterinarian says it's ok, I don't think it is safe for them to take!!! However pepcid, also known as famotidine is safe for dogs & cats. My dog takes the 20 mg ones but he is also 90-100lbs. You would give less if your dog is smaller & we use to give a quarter of a tablet to some of our cats but that might have been the 10mg tabs. Call up any local vet in your area- they should be able to give u the correct dosage according to weight. By the way I do NOT give my dog pepcid every day, only a couple times a week & at most every other day (he is on pain meds also) Hope this helped!!! ## On July 31st, 2017 I went to take my dog for his booster shot and ask...
3 REPLIES UpdatedI have been taking this drug for a pain in my stomach and repeated belching. After a few weeks I have a dry mouth, sore tongue, and very sensitive right lower jaw and tender right side of neck. It feels like bad toothache but my dentist says theres nothing wrong with my teeth or gums. ## Have you consulted a regular doctor to have it checked out? Have you tried any alternative medications? Do you know what's causing the pain in your stomach? What types of foods do you eat? Learn more Lansaprazole details here. ## I've been back to my doctor to tell him about my dry mouth and sore tongue. He hadn't heard that dry mouth is a relatively common side effect of Lansoprazole, but agreed I should come off it. Today, after fighting an increasingly losing battle for a few days with Ga...
3 REPLIES UpdatedMy brother takes mylan 8030 and he has just started getting severe stomach pain. Can that be caused by this mylan 8030 pill? He also has a hiatal hernia, would this be causing his pain? He just lost his insurance, what do you recommend he does? ## Mylan lists this tablet as containing 30mgs of Lansoprazole, which is used to help reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach to treat conditions such as heartburn, GERD, and gastritis. And yes, the FDA does warn that it can cause severe stomach pain as a side effect, so he might need to try a different medication. Is he on any other medications?

1 REPLY UpdatedBeen on lansoprazole 30 mg for 2 years. Feeling nausea headaches & cracking knees. Can I stop immediately or wean off to 15 mg then stop? ## Hello, Willow! How are you? You should be able to just stop, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. The worst symptoms from a sudden withdrawal are sometimes rebound heart burn and reflux. The nausea and headaches can be normal side effects, as reported by the FDA, you may also experience stomach pain and flatulence. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I posted a similar thread to yours, but was wondering if you ever found out if the stopping the Lansoprazole was the cause of your headaches? Did they stop eventually? I'm on 3 weeks and I'm still fighting them! Thanks! Ref: medschat.com/Discuss/325908
2 REPLIES UpdatedCan I take hormone replacements pills, Lansoprazole and Quetiapine 25mg with Ardoson? ## Which specific hormone replacement pill? I am sorry, but I cannot provide you with the correct information, unless I know the specific details. Can you please post back and clarify? The NIH lists the typical side effects of your existing medications as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, flatulence, mood swings, and weight changes.
1 REPLY UpdatedI have been taking lansoprazole for a long time - 15mg white/pinkish colour and they have worked well. Recently my pharmacist gave me a prescription for lansoprazole and the capsules are white/yellow but she insists they are the same capsule. I can tell they are different because they are not working as well as the original capsules. They are manufactured by Actavis in Slovenia and the new tablets are by Actavis also and come from Spain. ## I find the yellow ones make me sick ..the original white ones were fine ## I have found exactly the same. I was taking the white capsules, they worked very well. They were the Almus brand. Then my pharmacy gave me a different brand, a yellow capsule and I've found they don't work as well. With these I still have severe heartburn. Now ALMUS ca...

1 REPLY UpdatedI am unable to find out if levosulpiride is addictive. I was prescribed this when I was in Costa Rica and it worked great for my dyspepsia nausea. It is classified as a substituted benzamide. I am in Canada and the drug is not available here. I would like to know what it's half life is and if it's addictive. ## No, this medication is not addictive, as listed by the U.S. FDA and it's half life is approximately 9.7 hours. Its typical side effects may include dizziness, headache, flatulence, stomach pain and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks ever so much for this information. I do appreciate it. It has been most difficult to find any information on levosulpiride. It is not available in Canada. When I was in Costa Rica I did find it incredibly helpful w...
3 REPLIES UpdatedI developed severe acid reflux and my doctor put me on a regiment of Prevacid twice daily. I was on this s*** for 15 years. While did the job in preventing the acid reflux, it has slowly been destroying my body from the inside out. First it caused drastic changes in my stool, always soft with a pudding consistency, and eventual drainage. It caused my bones to mini fracture and may have the cause of my current back problems. It caused my joints to weaken to the point where it did permanent damage to one of my ankles. It caused severe fatigue, it caused liver and kidney pain and likely did damage to one of my kidneys. Only after thousands of dollars in tests and doctor bills a different doctor put me on Pantprazole and everything has cleared up I am convinced that prevacid was never prope...
1 REPLY UpdatedWhen you have acid reflux it is a classic sign you do not have enough good gut flora in your stomach. See the work on youtube of Dr Joel Wallach. ## There is no 'gut flora' in the stomach. The stomach is incredibly acidic and is designed to kill bacteria in the stomach. While you are correct that acid reflux is a sign of something more serious, and taking acid reflux medication is not a good solution to this problem. And reducing stomach acid can actually allow bacteria to grow in the stomach when it could not before the acid reduction. Taking medications is a 'band aid' that does not solve the problem, but actually makes it worse.
1 REPLY UpdatedHi there. I wonder if someone could ease my fears. I started taking lansoprazole two weeks ago. It's a fairly small dose of 30mg once a day. Although it's keeping the dreadful reflux in check, today my urine is literally fluorescent yellow...and I'm terrified!! I dont take supplements, or vitamins, I drink an adequate amount of water each day, but I do take some other prescribed medications for high blood pressure. These are Losartan, Tildiem, Bendroflumethiazide, and Ramipril. I feel perfectly well...apart from the panic over the colour of my pee :( I really hope someone can end my fears ## Hello, Capercaillie3! How are you? I didn't find it listed as a side effect for the Lansoprazole, but many blood pressure medications can cause that, as reported by the FDA. They can...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI have been taking Lansoprazole for 3 months but for the past 3/4 weeks I have a dry sore mouth and tongue do you know if the tabs are coursing this to happen ## Hello, Christine! How are you? It is possible, but there's no way to be sure, since so many other things could also cause these symptoms. Have you been ingesting more acid foods or beverages recently? Are you on any other medications? The FDA lists the typical side effects of Lansoprazole as possibly including nausea, dizziness, flatulence and stomach pain. ## I've been on the medication for over two years and have a constant irritation of my taste buds with oversensitivity especially to cold liquids or ice. My taste sensations are situated or nonexistent. My other senses are situated such a sense of smell hearing etc. ...
2 REPLIES UpdatedThere are a bunch of the PPIs that come in a time release form. They appear to be a follow on to the normal doses. DO any of the PPIs benefit from the time release form or is it just another attempt to confuse and screw consumers? ## Hello, Alternety! How are you? The time released formulations are beneficial for some people. While there are some who might just release excess acid upon ingesting something, some people's stomachs seem to produce excess all the time, so a time released one may help them throughout the day. The FDA lists the typical side effects of PPIs as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, flatulence and stomach pain. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY UpdatedAfter taking lansoprazole 30 mg,within 2 hours experienced severe lightheadedness to the point of fainting. Is this a possible side effect? ## After taking lansoorazole 30 mg,within 2 hours I was extremely lightheaded to the point of almost fainting. Is this a possible side effect ## Hello, Karen! How are you? It has been known to cause dizziness, but it would be very unusual for it to be that severe. Are you taking any other medications? Had you eaten after taking it? Is that the only instance where you experienced such dizziness? ## I had taken it in the morning with food. I did take a stool softener the night before
