Klonopin Brand Name (Page 3) (Top voted first)

I've been unable to find Klonopin (brand name) at any pharmacy. Although I've taken this medication for several years, this is the first time I've been unable to find it. I've been told the manufacturer (Roche) has it on backorder. Some say it's no longer available. I cannot take the generic as I get a serious migraine. Does anyone have any suggestions where I might get a Rx filled?

I would be interested to know who has noticed any difference since the redistribution back in October of Named Brand Klonopin. There are a lot of people who've been on named brand 10 to 20 + years and have noticed no difference in it. I haven't noticed anything different but just thought I would get an input. What is the best generic? I can't handle the inactive ingredients in the generic from Purepac, it's a hard shell and I am looking for a generic that is soft and dissolves as easily as named brand.

Thank you for verifying, as another person very familiar with generic and real/original klonopin, that the new worse klonopin truly does not work for some of us. I also thought of a conspiracy to reduce tranquilizing activity but think it is more likely to be cheaper ingredients or a quicker synthesis than the original. I wish I could get the original again.

I had a few pills of original klonopin so I used 2 before an operation and it made a huge difference!

But I guess the FDA, once approving of a drug, isn't going to do anything about quality.

You're welcome Julie. Maybe some don't notice a difference....I have some theories as to why may notice a change and some not in the new Klon. Lots of factors...too many to list. I did take some tart cherry juice last night....it does increase the melatonin. There is a place called "point of return"...they have supplements and a program for anyone who wishes to stop using pills of any form. It is a nonprofit organization. I'm not promoting this place per say...but have been studying their supplements..and buying some of them. For example vitamins to avoid in taking in a supplement if your benzos not working right...there are supplements to avoid..some B vitamins make you energized. Whey protein...supposedly in casseiene form. Avoid calcium supplements like the plague espec if you are nervy...of course consult with physician if you have low Calcium but we get plenty of calcium from added calcium to foods...more magnesium. Eat foods to increase gaba..almonds..walnuts.. complex carbs..beans beans beans.......

I want my real klonopin but maybe some tips to help...lol..sure you've read them somewhere...L theanine helps..And I'm thinking about going to acupuncture...but all of that costs money...

True there are generic versions of Klonopin available but cannot take the generic. So it's tough trying new meds!

I did find the information Sound4Heaven posted. It is not on the drug shortage list, but if you look at the top right search box on the FDA drugs website and type in ,Klonopin Roche 2014, it brings up titles to several articles, one of which is the one Sound4Heaven refers to. I do not think Genentech produces the drug, as I posted earlier, I found package inserts online that say the .5 mg is made in Switzerland and Distributed by Genentech. It was dated 12-2013, but I do not know if it is accurate. Just Google package insert klonopin.

I think it is strange that Genentech does not know the date production will start. It may be produced at another Roche site, but Genentech is the distributor and if it is due to a compliance issue with testing, Then When is the next test date?? I called again today, same thing just the recording.... with same message. More people should call and maybe someone can get more information than me.

I spoke with person at Genentech, and it appears they do now produce it.

Maybe they have stared production but don't have any available at this time to distribute. If this is the case, maybe it won't be long now but if it isn't, then it would be good to know one way or the other if they are actually producing it anyway.

Called again today. I asked if it was in production yet and they said no. Again, I think the more people that call the better.

I began to call my local pharmacies to find the brand Klonapin and received the same answer; they are out of stock and would try to special order. My usual pharmacist contacted their supplier and found out the drug will not be available until December 1st! Each time I ask the date keeps getting pushed. I have issues with the generic version mainly that it doesn't work the same. When I realized this, I continued on the brand even if it meant a higher copay. I was glad to find the comments from others as know it is not just me. I will be seeing my doctor and finding out about trying an alternative like Xanax. Wondering if making this change will involve withdrawal symptoms from Klon. Hoping that is not the case.

I cannot take generics !!! Ambulance took me to ER because my heart started racing ( reaction to Klonopin generic ) !!! IT IS OCTOBER, when Genentech said Klonopin would be available again.......It is not. I have taken the generic because Genentech forced me to........and as I said,,,,,,,I cannot take generics,,,,,,,,,so are you ( Genentech ) telling the truth???? WILL KLONOPIN brand EVER be back on the market????? This is nightmare !!!! WHEN or WHERE can I get Klonopin??????? Wrote to Roche to see if suppliers overseas could help. That was just yesterday.......PLEASE be responsible and help !!!!! PLEASE !!!

Is it December the same for all supplies or could it be it will be anyone like available in October but maybe later to some supplies? I remember this happened back in 2011. I went to get a refill in February 2011 and got a partial fill as it was on backorder and I was told April, then it was May, then it was June, and finally I was able to get it filled the first to second week in July. That was 7 months it was on backorder. Now here it is 3 years later and it has been on backorder for several months. How long has it actually been unavailable, March or April?

Where are you that pharmacist said no brand klonopin till December ? The generics are horrible!! I'm miserable. Tried Xanax and it was bad also.

Hi Elizabeth,
When I called the 800# today I told the pharmacist that I tried the generic several times over the 24 years that I've taken Klonopin. I said my anxiety and panic attacks were horrific and added that my daughter had the same reaction. She immediately said would you speak to our safety division. I said absolutely and answered questions about the generic. Did you have the same experience? I think if more and more of us call it may help get them to stanufacturing. I think it comes down to economics.

I took the generic back in 2008 and it was from Purpac. It made my throat and stomach suffer a severe reaction with severe burning. Just that one pill. I didn't take another one, it took almost a week for my stomach and esophagus to heal. I reported it to MEDWATCH and the FDA checked into it. I filled a formal complaint and they called me asking a lot of questions. I was honest. That was the reaction I had and it actually cause damage. That is why I am afraid to try another generic. This pill was hard as a rock and it was something definitely in the binders that caused it. I had a few named brand left and took one and thank God, it did not cause any issues at all, that proved to me that it was the INACTIVE ingredient not the Active ingredient.

I was informed by Walgreens about it being on back order until December. At first, I was able to receive the brand at CVS but no longer. I called local chains like Rite Aid and Walmart. Same response about ordering but would not know how long unless brought in script. It gets ridiculous going from place to place. Also to buy it by other means like through Canada would be paying the full cost. Doubt I could afford it.

Hi, I went to my local Walgreens just this past week. They called the distributer when I was there and was told December. Previously, they had said Sept. 15th. I had to fill genericly since ran out. I only ran into this situation within the last few months. Think every pharmacy maybe different. When Walgreens said couldn't fill, I went to CVS and they had a supply. Now they can't fill it either.
