Klonopin Brand Name (Page 11) (Top voted first)

Updated

I've been unable to find Klonopin (brand name) at any pharmacy. Although I've taken this medication for several years, this is the first time I've been unable to find it. I've been told the manufacturer (Roche) has it on backorder. Some say it's no longer available. I cannot take the generic as I get a serious migraine. Does anyone have any suggestions where I might get a Rx filled?

To usta etc.

It does NOT matter even if Claimed ingredients are the same.
The compounds form differently for any number of reasons.
See how your Mexican Ferrari works. (or Mexican Bourdeaux)

ergo, new Brand name is just another Generic - now Tijuana crap.

I'm going to be trying several more generics over the next few months, and have been suffering all the while so far: 6 months... 4 Fails since real 'K'.

The new Mex-Klon is adequate, not as sedating, but missing it's original tranquilizer feel. Seems like Klon-light. If I have to pay extra for Brand, I would say Teva is possibly better in the sedation category. Make no mistake, you will not experience withdrawals with the new Klon, but it's anti-anxiety profile seems some flatter thatn from prior to temporary shortage.

Anyone have any experience with Xanax (brand) XR?

Good News: I got Brand Name Klonopin last week. Bad News: they are NOT the same as old ones. It's like a New Generic.
I took my last 'Old Stock' Klonopin the night before the I got the new ones. (after 20 yrs of taking it) NOT the same. It's a New formulation IMO despite same look.

Got it now? New ''Brand name" isn't even as good as Qualitest or Teva Generics. Anyone paying Retail/multiples/uninsured rates for 'brand' NOW is an i****. re-manfufactured 'brand' IS "Generic"

pt 2, cont'd

">...If you look at the graph the FDA provides you will discover that the mean plasma concentration of the two drugs is certainly NOT identical! The generic formulation (which uses a matrix technology to release the active ingredients) produced peak blood levels in 1.5 to 2.5 hours, whereas the brand name product (using a membrane technology) produced peak blood levels around 5 hours.

This kind of information for other generic formulations is not always easy to access. Here is something else a pharmacist might not realize. According to the FDA, 80 PERCENT of the active and inactive ingredients in our pharmaceuticals come from abroad. It is estimated that 40 PERCENT of the finished pills come from abroad including countries such as India, China, Brazil and MEXICO. It is also very clear that the FDA does not have the resources to inspect all or even many of the manufacturing plants producing either the raw materials or finished products millions of Americans take every day. That means that there is NO verification system that the pills are exactly what they say they are.

We have seen manufacturing problems with some of the most prestigious drug companies in the U.S. (Johnson & Johnson and GSK). These problems occurred at plants where the FDA visits on a regular basis. Do we really believe that chemical companies in China that are not inspected are producing perfectly identical generic drugs at cutthroat prices?..."

again, you really think the New Mexican "Brand" name is the same as the old Swiss in every compound's strength/structure, combination, and mfg method?

I still have the original Klonopin prior to the so called " new " Klonopin. Honestly, I can't tell any difference at all. I can only tell if I do not take it that I become extremely anxious. I think they would have tested anything more than once. We don't know if they or if they didn't but I can not tell any difference in the way they look as the the original which I still have. If something is going on with it, then they need to charge the generic prices for them and not the extraordinary high price they do for these which is $220.00 for a 1 month supply.

I will give some advice..these forums are very helpful in knowing that you are not alone. For me focusing on it too much espec when I am anxious..makes it worse for me reading about these forums. Getting through a big pharm company is almost like dealing with a communist regime...no info is coming out. I have read about formulation changes.........? How do we know for sure? Even so...it sucks..makes me look to God more...but I don't have a solution...maybe slowly wean off...is god telling all of us..enough is enough. Get off the meds..I'm not sure but relying on a synthetic is getting harder and harder......

I have learned there are lots of aminos..theanine..holy basil....that do help. But it is scary as hell thinking about getting off benzos...and its scary when meds arent working right..... in no man's land. Either way...is tough

I've taken name brand before they halted production and after it came back on the market. I never had to switch to a generic. I've not noticed any difference so far. I would like to try a generic but the one I tried a few years back had something in the inactive binders and fillers that caused a severe chemical reaction in my mouth, down my throat, and my stomach, it's like it burned the lining it was that bad so with that 1 pill I stopped and had pain for 3 to 4 days, went immediately back on name brand and all was ok. I tired the genetic purpac / activas with a R 34 round white and very hard shell to break. I just checked and name brand has gone up in price from $214.97 to $233.30 that's a shame! I'm upset about that as I have to pay out of pocket because insurance will only pay for generic. Which genetic has a softer outer layer that disolves like the name brand? I am one of those people who can't swallow a pill, like a phobia and I have to chew it up the name brand gives me no problems but if I could find a generic I could do the same that would WORK for as long in my system then I'd surely save a fortune.

Just checking in. Does anyone have any new thoughts on the Named Brand K?
I haven't noticed any difference since it's back in production. I hope that I don't.
If there was a generic out there that worked as well, I would try it but I have only tried one generic and it caused a severe burning reaction, must have no doubt been the coating and inactive ingredients. It was Purpac Pharma. I have heard Teva is close to named brand. I need something that has a softer outer layer. If I could just find a generic that would dissolve like the Named brand and actually WORK, then I would definitely try it. The cost of Named Brand K has gone up almost 20.00 more. Has anyone else noticed an increase in price? Any answers to some of my questions if not all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, brand klonopin is now made by Genentech but often sold as Roche (Genentech is owned by Roche now). The brand klonopin that Genentech makes helps most people but not all of us. This seems to be some change in the medicine as more of the new klonopin does nothing more than less of it (for me). I hope you find it and it works for you. Call pharmacies if necessary but I have not had a problem with it being available.

Yes, for whatever reason, klonopin 2015-6 does not work for me... so it took care of itself and I use less than I have used in years. It leaves me anxious no matter how much I take or don't take so ... less is more in this case; and I may soon stop taking even this 0.5mgs per day!
Sad they don't have a substitute for klonopin as I am very anxious all the time and always have been -- this is why a previous doctor suggested klonopin in the first place.

Have you thought about trying something else other than klonopin? Maybe ativan? I don't know if Xanax would help. I can't understand why it makes you more anxious when you take it but I know our system is changing over the years and there are so many other variables that affect how a drug works in our body. All systems are "unique "I wish they had a genetic that worked that I could take. I've only tried the one made by pure pac and had a terrible burning reaction to the inactive ingredients. It had a R34 on it and hard as a rock! I think inactive ingredients made to dissolve like the named brand could work for me IF I knew of one that did not have the hard outer shell /coating. I guess I'll never know as No one seems to know even though many people who have taken several genetics never comment on that when I ask.

All the best

I have been taking brand name Klonopin for many years with good results and have been noticing that it's not working very well for a while now. I Di experiance the same as some posts here have mentioned that the company stopped production for a while and then they were made available again a few months later. I wonder if the formula has changed or if it's a change in me instead. Sure seems like a Coinsidance to me that after several years things have changed in my need to take more then usual and not getting good results as well
Anyone having a similar issue ????

They stopped Production in January 2011 and it wasn't available until July 2011. Then 3 years later they stopped production again in 2014 and it was the last of October 2014 that it finally became available. In 2011 when it was back, I didn't notice any difference. In 2014 and 2015 I didn't notice any difference so far. It seems about the same but I hope nothing has changed the last of 2015 because that's what I'm talking now. I spoke to Genetech pharmacuetical back October 2014 they assured and insisted there have been no formulatory changes.

Genentech cannot change the formula and sell it as brand or even as the same medicine. But the purity of starting materials might be something that affects a few people. Glad it works for most people the same as before the 'klonopin drought' of 2014. :)
