The name is often misunderstood, but the correct name is Klonopin, it contains the active ingredient Clonazepam. It is a Benzodiazepine, so it's in the same class as Xanax.

They are normally used to treat conditions like anxiety and nervous disorders.

These medications are controlled substances, because there are known to be habit forming.

The primary danger of abusing it is overdose, because these medications cause central nervous system depression, so too high of a dosage could result in respiratory or cardiac arrest.

However, if they have been abusing them, then stopping abruptly can also be dangerous, because sudden withdrawal could cause seizures. They need to get proper medical help for this problem.
