Just Started Taking Linzess

I just started taking Linzess. I am on day 4 of this medication. I am on a low dose for the first week; then I am supposed to start a much higher dose of Linzess. I have yet to have a BM. However, I have severe gas and abdominal pain. I how to get super dizzy and nauseated. I have cerebral palsy so the dizziness and listlessness are dangerous. I am afraid I will lose my balance. Will these symptoms subside? I am afraid that I will never get back to work substitute teaching because my bms. By the way this is been going on for almost 2 years. I have tried several different medications.

Hello, Lisa! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problem you're having.

Given that you have CP, I think it would be best if you returned to your doctor and spoke to them about these side effects. You should've had a bowel movement with the Linzess from the get go, it usually works for most people about an hour after taking it.

The gas, cramping and nausea, can all be normal side effects, as listed by the FDA, but the severe dizziness is very concerning.

Thank you so much for your concern and reply to my message. I had a really bad night Monday night because of the medicine. Therefore, I stopped taking the medicine and called my physician. He finally called back today and told me I should stop taking the medicine. Of course, I had already taken that step. We are going to figure out a new course of action during my next visit. This has been going on for a year and a half so it's time to resolve the issue.
