Joint Pain With Mounjaro
(Newest replies first)
Updated
I'm having joint pain in my hands and toes while on Mounjaro. It started 3 days after the first 2.5mg injection. The skin feels tender in these areas as well. Is anyone having this issue?

Has anyone else experienced body pain while taking Mounjaro? I feel like I have the flu all the time. It is mainly my lower back and legs. Right before it's time for a new shot it subsides. I took my weekly shot yesterday and the pain started in the same evening. It gets so bad I want to cry. Everything I read on it says pain is not a side effect, but I know they don't tell you everything either.
Re: Cam (# 2)
I also have extreme pain in my lower back but everything I read it does not list pain as a side effect. I dont know what to do. It is horrible
I started with skin itching in my scalp with the first dose. With the second dose itching all over my entire body, then stinging. 3 days and night of muscle spasms followed. Now I’m still stinging on and off and have severe joint pain at the base of spine and numb toes and a heavy feeling in my legs.
The medication guide for MOUNJARO does not specifically mention joint pain in the hands and toes as a known side effect. However, it's important to note that individual responses to medications can vary, and some side effects may not be listed or fully understood.
Joint pain may be associated with type 2 diabetes. While joint pain is not a direct symptom of diabetes itself, it can occur as a result of various factors related to the condition. Here are a few potential reasons why joint pain may be experienced by individuals with type 2 diabetes:
1. Inflammation: Diabetes can contribute to systemic inflammation in the body, which may affect joints and lead to pain and discomfort.
2. Neuropathy: Diabetes-related nerve damage, known as neuropathy, can cause symptoms such as pain, tingling, or numbness in the extremities, including the hands and feet. This can sometimes be mistaken for joint pain.
3. Obesity: Obesity is a common risk factor for both type 2 diabetes and joint problems. Excess weight can put added stress on the joints, leading to pain and discomfort.
4. Arthritis: Some individuals with diabetes may develop arthritis, which is inflammation of the joints. Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are two common types that can cause joint pain.
5. Limited mobility: Diabetes-related complications, such as peripheral vascular disease, can impair blood flow to the extremities and affect joint health. Reduced mobility and stiffness in the joints can lead to discomfort.
If you are experiencing joint pain and skin tenderness after starting MOUNJARO, it is recommended to consult with your healthcare provider. They will be able to evaluate your symptoms, consider your medical history, and determine if the joint pain could be related to MOUNJARO or if there may be other factors contributing to your symptoms.
