I've Lost My Meds Or They Were Stolen! Panic

Updated

Yes I know it's 2016 and everyone is all under fire and very serious scrutinized just for being a pain patient. I can find neither my bottle of Oxycodone nor my bottle of my very small dose ADD med that does next to nothing for a disorganized, ever mind changing, brain numbing procrastination! I'm feeling very nervous and distraught and overwhelmed right now about all of this and I don't know what to do. Please do not bash me about those things I already know, because on top of all of those feelings, I'm feeling downright stupid and irresponsible for not paying attention. I was diagnosed with ADD (runs in the family) just over a year ago and like I mentioned my ADD med dosage is the lowest ineffective dosage available because for reasons unknown to me, my dummy of a Psychiatrist is a burn out and not the good hippy kind, but the very slovenly half asleep Psych. and my ADD is off the charts uncontrolled, but until I find a new psych which is extremely difficult when you have this dreaded disorder I'll just have to take the wheel. Damn, I am so sorry about the rant, but once I start, my brain feels this overwhelming urge to make me keep typing along, spell check, edit and repeat. Ok Back to my very serious situation. So as the title says; I truly don't know if I misplaced my oxy and a few other meds like Doxepine and inderal (this leads me or believe I've lost them, because these are not meds people tend to want. Things to consider before commenting; I have never neither lost nor had meds stolen in the past, I take my meds everywhere in my unorganized shoulder bag for fear of losing them or having them stolen and yet here I am facing the realization that one of my biggest fears has been manifested into a reality. So my obvious questions are; What are my realistic options and or concerns? How much trouble will I get into with the tide rolling against pain patients as bad as it is now? How can I file a police report if I'm not sure which scenario has occurred? Side note; My older brother has severe ADD had the same Pain Management Doctor and during his time with her, he had lost one or more of his scripts and had one stolen script along with his car and many other items. She was lenient on him on several occasions. But then that was 5 years ago before I was introduced to her. I'm not for sure, but from what I have read so far times have changed much more dramatically since then. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. PS I don't see my PMD until 6/6, they are closed tomorrow (Friday of course) but I have my rainy day supply which would last me until Monday. TIA everyone!

WOW, SORRY BUT I'M NOT "BASHING" YOU as I say this to you!... you HAVE/NEED to CALL/CONTACT your doctor ASAP!!! AND MAKE A POLICE REPORT! ASAP!!!! IDK WHO OR WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE YOU ASSOCIATE WITH but just to let you know that YES....THESE MEDICATIONS ARE MEDICATIONS PEOPLE WILL STEAL FROM YOU!!!

I'm so sorry that you are going through this. In fact, you sound exactly like I do when I'm in an ADHD/anxiety induced headspin. I was in a similar situation to your's a few months ago. Like you, I threw my meds (along with everything else in creation) in my huge shoulder bag and ran out the door. While I was out, I wasn't paying attention and managed to trip and fall while crossing a busy street (I live in NYC). EVERYTHING proceeded to fall out of my bag and started rolling everywhere! A couple of people stopped to help, which I was grateful for at the time, but I didn't stop to think about my meds (Adderall and Xanax). Be careful of kind strangers, especially in Brooklyn. Of course, when I got home, I noticed that my meds were gone. I anxiously called my Doctor and he had no problem calling them in again for me. I had never lost my medication before and my doctor knew that took my meds as prescribed. As long as this isn't a regular occurrence (you mentioned it wasn't), your doctor should have no problem giving you a new prescription. In fact, it could be contraindicated for you to just stop taking some of the meds that you are on. I wish you the best of luck and please let me know what happens.
Oh! Btw, now I put 2 days worth of my meds into the last month's presciption bottle. I throw that bottle in my bag with me when I leave home.

I forgot to mention... You can fill out a police report, but I doubt it will help. You are not going to get into trouble for losing your meds or having them stolen! It happens! Like I said, as long as this is not a regular occurance, you are not going to get into any sort of trouble, and your Dr should have no problem replacing your meds. I even explained the situation to my insurance company and they covered my replacement meds as well. Don't worry about what the other poster said, people from all walks of life suffer from addiction. It is no reflection on the type of person you are.

Most Doctors will not replace stolen or lost meds. I one time lost my script for oxycodone and i had to file police report, and my doctor would not write another script to replace lost one. Had to wait till my next script was due to be able to get my med.
