Is there anything else I can help you with?
Not sure how hold your post is or if you've gotten your answer; but the first reply seemed pretty lame. So, I'd be happy to give you a detailed and correct response: Yes, these are indeed generic 1 mg alprazolam (Pfizer makes the brand name Xanax) tablets manufactured by Qualitest Pharmaceuticals (NDC 0603-2129-21). I just got these as a replacement for the Klonopin I was taking (I was getting the Roche brand with the K cut-out because all the generics were so lame). But since he wasn't to ken on going through the red tape required for me to get the brand name under Medicaid, I asked for a substitute I figured no generic maker could screw up. I was wrong, the Mom and Pop pharmacy I use just because it's a walk from my house and ZI have no car seems to have a knack for stocking the cheapest, leat effective generics. Generics are definitely not bioequivalent to the brand name no matter what anybody says--they vary wildly, from very close to the brand name quality to as low as 15% the quality of the orginal. If I'd gotten these online I'd've pronounced them bunk--i.e. no active ingredients. This is not to say they may not contain 1 mg alprazolam--it's the quality. Generics who buy their raw material from places like India or Goa are going to have crap quality product. Then there's the generic companies who buy U.S. product that's expired. The molecules break down--much more quickly if not stored in climate controlled warehouses. Eventually the 40 gallon drums that originally contained a decent quality of the med listed on the label contains a bunch of degraded substance: inactive metabolites; broken down molecules--basically garbage. Just like vitamins have an expiration date and stop delivering doses that meet specification around that date; and eventually deliver a dose of pretty much nothing, the same is true for all bioactive substances (even your brain renews its neurotransmitters frequently and in proper amounts (some people's brains don't do such a good job, hence mental disorders). Anyway, Qualitest's emphasis is more on he 'test' part, than the 'Quali-' (actually they might do quality tests to find out which is the worst generic; that's how people end up overmedicated; they're put on a med that would work if it were brand name quality--but since the stuff's effectively, say, a quarter the potency of the freshly-made, quality stuff--they end up on at least two to four times the dose that would normally work. Generics are basically a farce. Some seem okay; but these are usually subsidiaries of the original brand name manufacturer (e.g. Endo, Sandoz--but even the Sandoz clonazepam I got seems utterly weak; while I raed on the threads that Sandoz alprazolam is about the best generic substitite for Pfizer Xanax. Hope that helps. And here's the URL for the Qualitest package insert page: http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?id=14065
PROBLEM WITH YOUR OVER WORDED REPLY CHRIS, IS THAT IT IS ALL BASED ON YOUR OPINION AND GUESTIMATIONS. IF IT DOESNT GIVE YOU THE REQUIRED BUZZ, IT MUST BE SUBSTANDARD. TRY INCLUDING A FEW FACTS NEXT TIME YOU PORTRAY YOURSELF AS THE MAN WITH THE ANSWER.
Chris posted the dumbest thing I have ever read on the internet. The fda overseas the quality of every generic medication that is to be dispensed to the public. If your bottle says 1 milligram alprazolam, then that is exactly what you are getting. I have a degree in pharmacology from the University of Tennessee, and am currently employed as a pharmacist in Nashville,TN. I should hope this puts the matter to rest.
I recently obtained a rx from shoprite for alprazolam bevcause they were only 21.00. They do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!!!! I even took 4mg's and still nothing. They werent even bitter tasting like any brand of xanax Ive tried b4. They tasted like cardboard. Im extremely upset because I know the shoprite geezer of a pharmacist wont do anything and neither will my Dr. Now Im going to have to deal with a full month of full blown anxiety attacks and Im gonna end up losin it. What should I do? Any help???????? PLEASE??????????? IM SCARED!!!!!!!!
It takes time for Valium to work and has to get in your system. Don't increase dosage without physician knowing..Xanax works much faster.
Hi Susan. Was that Valium post in response to mine? If so I thank you for your reply..... I am on Xanax, not Valium. I am also a registered nurse. These meds work the 1st time they are administered. No need for them to work up a blood level as in anti-depressants, etc.... since you mentioned that Xanax take a while to get into your system and that is wrong. I usually take 1mg of xanax and feel the effects within 30-45 minutes. I have also been on the same dose of alprazolam for years now. (on & off benzos since 18 for GAD, Im 48 now). I have NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE BRAND NAME. My tolorance is up but not enough to where they are extremely ineffective. Im 48y/o now. I can definitly tell that these Pfizer alprazolam, (who also make a different generic brand) are not working AT ALL!! They even taste fake! LIKE very bland CARDBOARD, RATHER THAN THE BITTER TASTE ALL ALPRAZOLAM HAVE. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THEM TESTED, JUST FOR PIECE OF MIND. (sry 4 the caps). Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you hun......... :-)
I think you misunderstood - it takes Valium longer to take effect after taking the pill - not that it has to build up in your system. Yes Xanax effect is much quicker. I've taken Valium off and on for years with no addiction effect. The mfg of my Diazepam is Mylan and Xanax generic mfgr is Purepac. I know what you mean about some of the mfg generic not working. I had the problem with both my RA and Thyroid meds when I did mail order and the mfg was TEVA. I find Xanax works great before bed as it stops the sub-conscious mind from waking me up. I use the Valium for anxiety and panic attacks which are better but they work for me. They've tried to put me on anti-depressants for years but I have reverse reactions and that has never been a solution and I refuse any suggestion of anti-depressants. I shop the mfgr thru the pharmacies which with mail order they ship whatever and will switch between brand and generic so you never know what you are getting. I've also reported to the FDA when I get a bad drug from a mfg and they will research it but need the lot # along with sample.
Oic what you were saying. : Sorry if Im repeating myself here, but i GOT MY ALPRAZOLAM REALLY CHEAP (1/2 PRICE) FROM SHOPRITE SUPERMARKET on May, 1st, 2012 (3 days ago). i KNOW HOW XANAX AFFECT ME AS I HAVE BEEN ON THEM FOR YEARS. tHIS NEW SCRIPT DOESNT HELP AT ALL! mY dR. REFUSED TO WRITE ME A NEW RX EVEN IF I GiVE HIM THE PILLS I ALREADY had FILLED. I still dont know what to do about this situation though. It was a legit Rx too. What do these Dr.'s expect you to do in a case like this anyway. Its a very possible situation. Its so unfair to us patients! Why should I have to suffer for a whole month due to a bogus script? ya know? am havingSEVERE ANXIETY ATTACKS but Dr. could care less! AM AFRAID IM GOING TO GO INTO WITHDRAWAL. aNY SUGGESTIONS? Anyone? How were you able to report bad xanax to the FDA. I want to do that!! Thanks again. :-( Stressed
Go to the FDA website - there is a form available. I would suggest requesting a script for drug in same family to tide you over.
Yes please due have tested becuase my pharmacy recently switched to these and they are not working and are causing me to have more panic attacks then normal. In looking for answers to this I came across these post and thousands of others that the 1mg qaulitest 2089 are not working and cuase more side affects as with what is happening to me. I know this because I went to my cousin an got a 5 day suppy of the regular ones an things began to go back to normal. I'm no DR pharmacist or rocket scientist but you don't have to be when you have panic attacks an they change your pills and then your wrecked for week 2 3 4 or until you figure out what is happeing, it is either in the dose or in the 20% buffer an fillers that is not agreeing with people all over this is no fantasy fake deal where 1000s of people are experiencing the same things across the nation awareness of this has to be brought to light for anxiety suffers whom may go through a possible med change to these qaulitest 2089 1 mg alprazolam pills. Some body please test help and figure this out because I also have friends that take them an they are fine with them, but somthing is amiss here.
I don't like those pills either. So what I did is requested a new mmanufacture company instead of qualistest and instead of purepac. I requested greenstone manufacture to my my pharmacist. At first he said they could not do that. Bout I knew by law on request they had to so I called Walgreens customer service and made a complaint about the pharmacist refusing to do that. The same day the manager of that branch called me back and said she was ordering that day. And that they would be ready for me to pick up the following day! And I picked them up the very next day

you are so wrong. I guess they train you that way. I am having awful side effects from a medication my pharmacy substituted from Qualitest (Dava) when I had been on Sandoz generic. You should update yourself. Are you not familiar with investigative reports confirming the unbelievably dangerous practices of some foreign drug manufacturers? Do you even know that the generic equivalent is allowed to vary by a fairly large percentage and still be considered equivalent? Many of these foreign manufacturers have gone many, many years with no inspection--many have NEVER been inspected. My new, sickening bottle of medication not only is ineffective--I'm having dangerous side effects. It smells like paint and my old mfg didn't. You are misinformed.
Greenstone is like drinking water to me. Sandoz is the best. Chris I disagree. I am a pharmacy tech and have been for 11 yrs. some generics brands do effect people different. I have seen it in blood pressure meds to. But the greenstone is nothing and does not help. Pharmacy said they are not making enough money so they had to find a cheaper generi. I was not the only customer to complain. It's all about lining the pockets. There is now a green 1mg Xanax sold made by DAVA manufacturer. Again 10$ less for a bottle and does not work. Sandoz is the rout to go for me that is.
My Pharmacy recently switched to QUALITEST & they do not help me. The FDA only requires that you have a certain % of the active ingriedent in the pill, but this pill can not have the same as my other generic Xanax, I have been on 1mg of generic xanax 4x daily for 23yrs, never less, never more & this pill sucks!
For those who are suffering from one of the worst words in the world- that being TOLERANT, I fought and fought to find the Generic adderall and it turned out to be about a 30 percent boost. The brand Sandoz. Core is coming up to pace as well. I have been on the 20 MYLAN version of Lexapro and think it is "off", although the integrity of the pill looks great. Finally, i have been on 3x1 Klonopin qualitest which "I can't tell" which may be sheer tolerance. My plan is to pay up for brand name Klonopin/Roche $200 for 100, and I can get one month of Lexapro for $100? I think it's only fair once in a while to get the real thing (if indeed they are real!) in order to see what true value is. e.g. If I took one mg of the real Klonopin and actually felt relaxed and 30 "Lundbeck 20 mg. "LEXAPRO" by script in Canada. Price is reasonable, my local pharmacy quoted me $900 for thirty real Lexapro's. What I can't get in my head is why these classic formulations are not sold for say $150 and thus cannibalize most of the Generics. Ambien is also circling mars right now.
yep, that's what most pharmacists say, however, after trying 4 different manufacturers, I find there IS a difference....the fillers are the problem, that is if the active ingredients are on spot. While Greenstone may be good for one individual, it was like taking nothing for me...everyone seems to think Mylan is crummy, but I didnt think so for yrs, and then there is Roche(unsure of the spelling), fair quality.....never tried Sandoz,,,but bottom line, it depends on the patient AND whatever is in the pill besides the actual med...so Mr Pharnacist, you are incorrect on this one. Unless you've taken the medication, you wouldn't know.

Avtually rob. If you were a pharmacist lol like u claim then you would know that just because a generic medicine says a medication contains s certain miligram does not mean thats what it is. If it said 10 miligrams that doesn't actually mean u get 10 miligrams of the drug. They are only required to have a certain amount. Its something like 80 %. So google it mr pharmacist lol.
