Is There A Prescription Medication To Help You Gain Weight

I am 35 lbs underweight and have been trying everything there is to gain weight, including drinking Boost with extra protein and calories, whey protein with 2x the lean muscle building qualities, eat ice cream by the gallon, whole milk, I exercise - everything but cannot gain in fact I just lost another 2 lbs. Is there a medication that will help me gain weight that is FOR this purpose ?

Unfortunately no, there isn't a medication just for gaining weight.

There are some that doctors will sometimes use when someone is extremely underweight, such as in the case of people undergoing cancer treatment, or for AIDs patients, but they are all medications that are actually intended for other purposes and just can cause weight gain as a side effect.

This can happen with most steroid class medications, antihistamines and some antidepressants.

The way I finally gained a few pounds, when I needed to, was by upping my protein intake quite a lot. I found a good trail mix, with a lot of nuts in it and snacked on it throughout the day, every day for several weeks in a row. Of course, it didn't last once I stopped eating it.

You may just have to accept the fact that you are meant to be tinier and will never gain much.

Has your doctor made any suggestions?
