If you are experiencing all those side effects STOP TAKING THE GABAPENTIN I started taking gabapentin for nerve pain about 3 years ago. About a month after I started getting a rash on my hands so the doctor gave me some cream to use. Well after 5 creams and 3 years later the "rash" has gotten about 10 times worse and has spread to other areas as well granted it helped the nerve pain for a while but then it stopped and dose had to be increased. Now I am in the highest dose possible I'm always itching and am always in pain and still have to deal with the rash and skin irritations. So tell your doctor about the side effects and ask to have your medicine changed. Do be scared to and do it now while you can.

Absolutely!!! These are posted directly on the"POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS"! I was assured that this was normal. I dont call not being able to see normal. What I am asking is >>> DO you notice that your eyes are itchy and dry , since you started taking the neurontin?
I went off of the neurontin due to experiencing *80percent of the side effects listed. I now have severe dry eye syndrome and light sensitivity. Consult with your Dr. if you are thinking of doing this, as the detox off of the neurontin was not pleasant to say the least. Wish I had never taken it. I call it dirty rotten Neurontin. Good luck and God Bless you on your journey

I was shot in the legs during a robbery and have been on Gabapentin for nerve pain to my legs and feet. I have been on 2400 a day with methocarbamol 1000 a day for 7 months and I am starting to experience strobing light circles in my outside peripheral vision only and went to my eye doctor who verified my retinas and eyes are normal. Now I am starting to get the black flecks in my vision. Lno that you can follow, more like dark fireflies. My pharmacist said it is not listed as a side effect or interaction to any of my medications but I have had become completely dependent on my readers for anything close and I am worried about being lame and blind. Nobody in the comment stream said anything about improvement after coming off of the Gabapentin is there a Gabapentin type cleanse, man these side effects are quality of life killers too.

I too have been experiencing double vision when taking my first dose of the 300 Gabapentin...Took my very first dose yesterday and felt.dizzy, unbalanced,. and also.had the double vision. I take the second dosage at bedtime along with two sleeping meds and still only sleep a few hours due to the pain from shingles. Is there another medication that anyone can suggest for me to talk to my doctor about? Thanks!

I decided against my pharmacist advice to stop taking printing as I was convinced this had affected my eyes. I have not taken the medication for over three months and my eyes are definitely better. The itching And the Irritated redness have also calmed. I do not feel my eyes are as they were previous to taking gabapentin but are certainly on the way to being better. In my last post I did not mention as I hadn’t related it to the gabapentin but I was also experiencing dizziness every morning, I had been to my GP regarding this dizziness he just took my blood pressure and said that was fine and it was left at that. It was only after reading another post that I have connected my dizziness, which has also stopped, with the gabapentin

I take 900mg of Gabapentin per day - my doctor says that's the usual dose. They warned me that I would experience some light headiness and some lose of short term memory - both of which I do experience. However, no eye problems that I have noticed. Recently passed a full eye exam.

Wow...that was a high dosage. I am a Dr of Nursing and besides myself, I have NUMEROUS patients on this drug. I personally only take 1-2x100mg capsules at bed and that TOTALLY knocks me out! The Physician originally wrote my RX for 3x 300mg capsules Q day (morning, noon & night) but where I'm starting I.Vs on patients all day, figured I should see what the side effects were when I took it myself. My first night was awful and scared the crap outta me. I took one 300mg around 7pm. I don't know what happened after that but woke up at 10:30a on the floor in my room. I slept right through my alarm and first 3 patients. I take this for Neuropathy due to issues with my M.S. I ended up calling off work that day and was seeing double vision and had blurred vision for 2 days. I called my Dr and he didn't even seem alarmed. He dropped my dosage to 1-2x 100mg capsules @HS (bedtime). It seems to help but I don't always take it. Also, my eyes are always dry when I take it!

YES!! The withdrawals are almost instantaneous. You feel edgy and confused. I have experienced insomnia for 5 days. I couldn't form a thought or complete sentence. I don't recommend going cold turkey. Ween yourself off these. You'll be happy you did.

I was on Gabapentin for 5 yrs for a crushed vertabrea and I’d never associated this with my terrible problem of dry eye. Nothing I took helped with this condition. But the middle of last year I weaned myself off it with the help of my doctor. A month later I found my dry eye was getting better and better. Now whether down this is due to the fact I’m no longer taking Gabapentin, I don’t know but reading some the responses I’m tending to believe it is. No more dry eye or fuzzy sight.

Hello, does anyone have any information on gabapentin, or neurontin and PRK laser eye surgery? Is there a list of medications that should not be taken before or during the surgery? Trying desperately to see what went wrong with my surgery. I can hardly see now. Only 3 months after my surgery I was asked about being diabetic and any medications I had been taking before my procedure ( the Dr was trying to figure out what went wrong). Any help would be so appreciated about any information you may know of. Thank you,.... Desperately seeking answers..
