I've been prescribed fentanyl 50mg pain patches and i was just wondering if it's okay to cut one in half an chew on it?

I chewed one bro and I was fine. I have a high tolerance to opiods of course. All in all I didnt feel high but good. Just chew half at a time.

Prince died from fentanyl OD. The drug is not meant for chronic pain. Pharmaceutial companies are making a killing through the legal addiction of people to opioids. Ask for alternatives

I am in MAJOR PAIN. Suffer chronic back pain 4 Types of Arthritis Fibromyalgia Sciatic nerve And That's just to name A few I chew and It is the ONLY Way it will work 100 to 150 A DAY. YAAA. A DAY !! I don't get High. It helps with my pain Wearing it does NOT NOT REMOVE PAIN SO I SUCK ON PIECES ALL DAY LONG. YES. ALL DAY LONG. NO DIFFERENT THEN WEARING

EXCEPT THIS WORKS BETTER AND LASTS A BIT LONGER BETWEEN PIECES !!!!! I DO NOT ADVISE PPL TO DO AS I DO. I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING ALSO IT'S NO DIFFERENT THEN THE NEWEST PATCH PRESCRIBED NOW THAT YOU INSERT IN YOUR MOUTH AND WEAR ON YOUR CHEEK TILL IT DISOLVES. OR SUCKING ON THE FENTANYL LOLLIPOP THAT'S OUT AS WELL. WHAT I CHEW IS NOT NEAR AS STRONG AS THOSE 2 I just mentioned Now there I THINK IS WHERE THE PROBLEM " will" be The lollipop and the patch that DISOLVES in Your mouth both presribed by family Dr. So don't put down what other ppl do right Or wrong in your mind!!! Be carfully with this patch around young children some how my 15 month old son got it into his system and died , the patch was never found . I have yo live with this forever . Shane on the doctors for not warning me of the dangers . I plan to take legal action . I hope this post can save a life !

Thank you to all you people out there that posted it is okay to chew fentanyl patches,My beloved son started stealing my patches and chewing them because ya'll led him to believe it was okay. His father and step dad passed away 11months apart which led to severe depression. He now is dealing with depression and addiction which may take his life. He was a straight A student with dreams of being a doctor. Now thanks thanks to these comments our family has hit rock bottom. I hope you can sleep at night cause God knows I cant watching over my son 24 hrs a day so he doesnt die. He is 20 therefore i cant have him admitted and he sees nothing wrong with what he is doing with the patches. Again thanks and i hope you never have children and have to live with this fear. I WILL PRAY FOR YOU PEOPLE!

Some of you people on here are absolutely ridiculous I swear!! If you're being prescribed Fentanyl from an accredited Doctor, then you already opiate tolerate, guaranteed! That said, IF this is indeed your situation, then chewing on a 50mcg patch will NOT kill you, sorry but this is a FACT!! What I believe most are overseeing, or simply are not aware, is Fentanyl is made in ONLY mcg dosages, NOT MG's. Essentially this is 5.5 milligrams not 50!! People who are opiate tolerate will not have any issue whatsoever with that amount. I've been on Fentanyl for years to assist with chronic pain, and have researched this medication enough to damn near be an expert. Hell, I know more about the drug than my and my wife's Doctors combined. Will Fentanyl kill someone? Absolutely! Be smart, know your body and it's limitations, if you have kids, or anyone else who doesn't have an opioid tolerance, be EXTRA safe/smart about where you store them, how you discard the spent patches etc. Lastly, if you're being prescribed the patches, you should also be on "breakthrough" medication as well since the patches take anywhere between 24-36 to enter the bloodstream and begin helping with your pain, hence the reason for the breakthrough medication. IF this is the case for someone, there should be NO need to chew on a patch. Fentanyl is 90% water soluble, therefore when they are chewed you are only truly getting 10% of the medicine, WASTING the other 90%!! Stick with the breakthrough, trust me. You're wasting an entire patch that otherwise if used properly will give you 72+ hrs of relief. And again, be SAFE!! Know your body, and ALWAYS store/dispose properly!!! Remember, nearly ALL "accidents" CAN be avoided when you use your head. And FYI, if you're thinking of trying to debate this topic with me, please don't waste your time and effort, or mine, because I assure you, you will lose... Thanks for reading my comment, it's my first and more than likely my last. Just had to throw in my 2 cents. Cheers!!

If you are going to do it, that is consume fentanyl patches orally. Don't effing chew on the thing. Simply, suck on it for like 30 seconds. Chewing it will break off chunks of the gel on your teeth and then it gets dissolved into your mouth; you have no way of controlling quantity. Also if you are going to ingest it orally at least try to do the right thing and where it for 3 to 5 days. If it falls off simply lick and stick it back on. Throw some duck tape over it and you can continue to use it as prescribed longer than the 72 hours. Good luck. Again, just don't chew or eat it. You want control.

IRONIC IS IT NOT??? Pain pills and other drugs was and are still in lot of places. FOR YEARS - WHITE PRIVILEGE DRUG ONLY - and now they're finding out - this white privilege drug - created a lot of white druggies. OHHHH my heart is broken - if all those whites walked out with out anything either - treated like I was - Then hey, were all in it together, but when whites are treated better and I'm dumped on, THAT'S A BARBARIC-RACIST - AND THATS A FACT JACK. No one has EVER died from touching a patch, period unless they have so many allergies and specific to pain medication. Why do you post things that is just not true? I have been on the patch for 6.5 years. At one point about a year after my accident I was on 2 - 100 mcg patches at a time plus break through meds. YOU CANNOT DIE FROM TOUCHING A PATCH. Now if you are not tolerant to pain meds and put two 100 mcg patches eventually you would drift into a coma ... I stress eventually. Then yes you would probably die unless you received medical attention. Post facts not fiction!

you want die from chewing the patch but if your gonna chew on them get the ratio fentenal patch and just suck on them , dont chew youll reck your teeth ..lol and the reason that it takes the pain away faster is because its in your system faster.
