Greetings to all,
My brother has sleep apnea for years. He suffered a heart attack two years ago. He was prescribed Vasotec which he is currently taking. His sleep apnea has worsened and he sleeps for 14 hours per day. He recently started using the cpap machine for his obstructive sleep apnea. Does Vasotec cause sleep apnea or make it worse if it is a pre-existing condition?

Vasotec contains the active ingredient Enalapril and yes, it is known that ACE inhibitors can cause coughing and airway inflammation that can cause, or worsen apnea.
Has he consulted his doctor? He may need to try a different medication.
