Is There Anyway To Calm The Feeling Of Anxiety From Withdrawl Fentanyl Patch
UpdatedI WAS ON THE FENTANYL 50 MG PATCH FOR A LONG WHILE THEN WAS PUT ON A LOWER DOSE OF 25 MG AND THEN 12 MG TO SLOWLY TAKE ME OFF, AS I NO LONGER AM IN PAIN. BUT I HAVE HAD FEELINGS OF ANXIETY AND CAN'T SEEM TO CALM DOWN. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO CALM THESE ANXIOUS FEELINGS. OR DO I HAVE TO LET IT (THE ANXIETY) RUN IT'S COURSE??

Have you consulted your doctor?
Sometimes they will prescribe a low dose Benzodiazepine, such as Xanax to be used for a short while.

Other people have had success using something very mild, such as Benadryl.

However, you need to check with your doctor to see what's right and safe for you to use.
vERWON IS SPOT ON WITH ALL OF HIS ADVICE, ESP THE XANAX. Some people, like myself, have a paradox reaction to benedryl meaning that it makes them anxious instead of calm but that is a small minority. Please ask your Dr. for a lighNGTWRt dose, say ,5 mg, of Xanax and that should get you over the hump. Iwent from 125mcg to zero over a six month period using 1 mg of xanax at the end. . . . Q
VERWON is correct, but I would start with something milder like Valium. I also found lots of WATER and exercise ( I know if you have pain, the last thing you want to do is exercise) but try to keep busy. Just laying around will make the symptoms seem worse, try to de-focus from the physical feelings and get out and be with people if at all possible. It also helps to let others know what your going thru, friends and family can be a great support. Hope you feel better soon!..Tommy in MN.
I suggest a Benzo called Ativan or the generic lorazepam. Please only take at a low dose of .5 mg because it can become addictive. That the only one I can think of for severe anxiety. If your tolerant to pain medicines then 50mcg of fentanyl should not be a problem but suggest you start with a 12 or 25 mcg patch to see how you adjust to the medicine. I'm just suggesting you go this path. Trying to help out.Sincerely.
Kratom capsules (Superior dragon) available at some smoke shops helps w/ anxiety & pain.
Anthony, I'm in the same boat as you as I'm tapering down from the 100mgh patch. I'm at 25 mcg now but I have been rx'ed Valium 5mg twice daily. It does help indeed. See if your dr agrees?
Have your Dr taper the dose over a long period of time, you can't just stop or cut dose by half. The brain will perceive the cut as a stoppage and the anxiety will be worse. It takes time but its worth it and result is better for the body. I went from 4800 mcg per day to ZERO in about 9 months with no problems and that was Actiq not the patch.
When I talk to my dr I was calling from 75 mg down to 50 mg then I used the 12 mg patch in conjunction to go in between doses. So the jump wasn't so far. And I did 37mcg dose 6 wks, then 25mcg 4 wks. Then when I got to then I just wanted the patch off my body. So I called a really great specialist Dr. Greg Maddox in Diamond Bar, that I used to get off of alcohol 10yrs ago, & asked him if it would damaged brain to quit cold turkey. He said no but to expect 10dys of serious hell - and then 4wks of regular hell. He suggested that I use a combination of Colonodine and Ativan to help with the detox. I have seen this mentioned all over the web. Check w/ your dr. Or just call mine...lol....he actually answers his personal cell phone 24/7.
It needs to be done slower - you can't rush the process. It took me a year to get off the drug and never had any withdraw. Dr needs to compensate with other drugs or treat anxiety
You can ask your doctor for an anti anxiety medication temporarily. Lorazepam is a good one, or ask him to send you to a detox centre. Opiate withdrawal is the worst feeling in the world and I know exactly the kind of anxiety/panic/worry/sadness that comes with coming off it. You really need to go to your Dr. and tell him you're withdrawing really bad and ask for help.
I was on 50 fentayl for 2 years came off cold turkey did use 10mg diazepam if needed which was rare still have pain but manage with over the counter meds had full stomach removal due to cancer
I started out at 50 mcg then went to 25 then 12 mcg. It took me about 1 month to get over the withdrawls. But I've been on 25 mcg for a year for the last 2 years. It wasn't until 3 months ago that I had enough of the fentanyl. So I decided to get off of it. I was taking norco 10-325 to off set the fentanyl patch. I was lucky that it only took me this long to get off of it. I thank God and my family with the help and support to get off of this very nasty drug.
Unfortunately I still suffer from the pain that got me on it. But better the pain the the dependance on the drug. Good luck.
I've been on the 50 fentanyl patch for about two years. The doctor has taken me down to 37 and I'm experiencing nausea anxiety. I'm scared and I don't have anyone to help me. I'm 69 in my family is gone. I'm going down to 25 in three days. The stomach pain is bad and I'm still constipated. I wish everybody else that's going through thisThe very best.
Re: Thorsen (# 4)
Instead of Xanax, which is addictive, ask your Doctor about Klonopin which I feel is a better drug for anxiety. I was on .5 of Xanax for about 5 years and hospitalized at least 3 or 4 X to get off of it. I tried to do it cold turkey but the Doctor said No. In the past 2 years, I have been on Klonopin (Clonazepam) .5 mg and I can stop it at will. Stops panic attacks, involuntary motor spasms and anxiety. I can't say that you won't get addicted, but my son is on it and he takes 1 mg 3X a day and he's been on it for many years and can stop it at any time. Good Luck to you, juggling medications is no picnic.
Re: JOHN (# 9)
For real it took me 3 days to switch from methadone 40mg a day to subutex. No withdrawl. Nothing . Now I’m on 8mg subutex , Xanax 2mg, and adderall 30mg. Trifecta
