Is Soma A Narcotic Muscle Relaxer? (Page 5) (Top voted first)
UpdatedMy doctor has told me that that soma is a narcotic and she does not want to prescribe it to me any more. I suffer from chronic back pain as well as muscle spasms. I have tried other muscle relaxers as well as anti inflamatories and none of then do not work. Soma is the only one I have found to work for me without making me sleepy. Any information you can give me i would really appreciate.
Thank you,
Dana
Yessss Soma is a narcotic now.. It didn't use to be... Never take more than is prescribed by your doctor... It can be habit forming.. Take it with caution especially if you are taking narcotic Opioid pain medication... That's my advice and I know becuz I took it many years for my back.. xx0
Soma is a narcotic. I got caught with 1 and it was sent to be analyzed and it came up as a schedule 4 narcotic, but it does not come up in a U/A!! I know from experience, but it does help the back!!
Re: HOUSE (# 58)
It could be in a couple of States on the C 2 List. As we know its not a narcotic, but Soma can be mixed with Narcotics as 'Soma Compound'
For those that say Soma (Carisoprodol) is not a controlled drug, I give you the following from Wikipedia. The same information can be found at any website regarding the federal classification of this drug. This refers to the Standard version. Not the compound with Codiene-Just your basic run-of-the-mill Soma:
Until 12 December 2011, when the Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) issued the final ruling placing the substance carisoprodol into Schedule IV of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), carisoprodol was not a controlled substance. The placement of carisoprodol into Schedule IV was effective 11 January 2012.[27]
Carisoprodol is available generically as 350 mg and, more recently, 250 mg tablets. Compounded tablets with acetaminophen and codeine are also available.[28]
Re: chuck (# 6)
I've had problems with Walgreens, they pretty much called me a drug addict. I normally go to a privately owned pharmacy but a couple of times I had to go elsewhere. I have heard the same about Walmart.
Re: WillChillRNMS (# 72)
What a sad but probably a true story, I know of no way to get opioids early no matter what has happened to them, that includes police reports. That is in my pain managers agreement..
What I need to know is if I go to pain manigment and they are not giving them to me anymore cuz im at a new place can I get them from my family doctor without messing up the contract since its not a norcatic or is it? Because im not sure if the filed it cuz I had it already from family doctor will it get me kicked out of pain manigment? Please help ive been one it sence 2000.
Please, Soma is a "Junk" drug, at least that is how most doctors feel about it. Soma can be considered a narcotic if it contains Codine or other opiates
Re: Normal Nobody (# 49)
Bulged or Herniated disc does not mean EMERGENCY surgery. Did you have it done. Why didn't you go to a Chiropractic Doctor first. How would a shot or a pill fix your problem(s)
Try exercising to relieve your damn back pain. Go to "Back Care Boot Camp" on the internet. Soma is a junk drug
