Is Sertraline A Narcotic?

Is this drug considered to be a narcotic? I'm dealing with someone with an addictive personality and keeps going to docs and getting different types of drugs. I want to make sure this isn't in that sort of category.

No, Thomas, this is an SSRI antidepressant that is used to treat various mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, and OCD.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings, and weight changes.

Well good and bad news, Zoloft is non narcotic. SSRI's are traditionally used for depression and depressive like conditions. They are technically non habit forming but millions who have been regular users of this family of drugs can result in dependence.

As for the term "addictive personality", that may indeed be the reason he is seeking relief and receiving drugs of this class to accomplish this. Your concern is admirable. When folks suffer from conditions similar to this, daily functioning can be a challenge of epic proportions. I wish I had the support of others that exhibited such concern and vigilance.
