My mother has a pacemaker but was never taken off Rythmol... We were wondering why she still should take Rythmol?

It contains the active ingredient Propafenone, which is used to help prevent cardiac arrhythmia, and she should take it as long as her doctor deems it appropriate for her to do so. The pacemaker cannot do everything, so she could still be at risk, if she stops the medication.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, increased urination, lowered heart rate, headache, and hypotension.

Is she on any other medications? Why was the pacemaker implanted?

At this time, even with the pacemaker, it is very important to keep her cardiac rhythm under control. In most cases, it takes multiple methods to help prolong someone's life, and to provide them with the best quality of life possible. Just as an example, I had congestive heart failure almost 8 years ago, and I take 2 different medications, one of which is for heart function, and the other that is used to help control my blood pressure.
