I am taking Apo citalopram 20mg for my anxiety problem...Is it safe to get pregnant while taking this medication?

No, there are some problems associated with taking, when you initially get pregnant, or already are pregnant, so it isn't advisable to do so.

The best thing you could do would be to discuss it with your doctor and see what your safest options are, if you want to get pregnant right now.

Is this the only medication you've taken for anxiety?

Yes this is the only anxiety pills Im taking but I'm taking Apo Temazeman also for my insomia and Stress tab vitamins .Im wondering if what are the side effect or dis advantages for the baby just in case I am accidentally get pregnant...My doctor told me that one kid is enough for me because I have one son already but I really want to have another one....

I can only tell you my personal experience and I'm not sure if it will help you sorry. I was already on Citalopram when I fell pregnant. I was told that it was safe to take Citalopram while pregnant and that it was better for me to take it than not and suffer depression. I had been very concerned about the effects it might have on my unborn baby but was reassured that it was safe by my doctor, hospital specialist and psychiatrist. When my daughter was born she was born with hemiplegia, which is brain damage. It has affected her left side. Her left arm and leg are very weak and she has muscle spasticity. She also has partial paralysis of her jaw. Apparently because I took it in the early stages of pregnancy it's possible that it caused the hemiplegia, according to my doctors (the same ones who had reassured me initially) but nobody knows for sure what the cause of her hemiplegia was.
