Interaction With S-adenosylmethionine?

Hello, I cannot find any information on taking the supplement "Sam-e" (S-Adenosylmethionine) with warfarin. Would love to find out if this can be taken while on a blood thinner?

It isn't advisable, the Mayo Clinic notes that SAMe can affect your risk of bleeding when taking with blood thinners, such as Warfarin or anticoagulants.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of Warfarin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Can you post a link that shows Mayo Clinic indicating risk of interact between Warfarin and S-adenosylmethionine? I cannot find anything on that.

I take SAMe (S-Adenosylmethionine) 400mg tablets made by Spring Valley by Walmart. I also take Mestinon 60mg tablets for Myasthenia Gravis (MG), Topamax 100mg tablets, 300mg Gabapentin for Tonic Seizures, Ziprasidone 20 mg twice daily for bipolar, and Aldactone 25 mg for my fluid retention and blood pressure. I also take 3 mg of Melatonin for my sleep problems as I have sleep apnea.

I noticed the precaution listed for bipolar patients. Why is this precaution on there, and what are the signs/symptoms I need to be precautious about? I have bad knee joints from previous injuries, patellar chondromalacia and osteoarthritis which is quite painful!!! I have tried Ibuprofen, but I get nosebleeds! I also readily use a cane and neoprene knee braces to help with the pain. I hope this will work for me. I will be seeing my Veterans Hospital Psychiatrist this week and I will discuss it with here and also my Neurologist.
