Hi, my hair is actually breaking off I had beautiful long thick hair past my shoulder now it is above my shoulders I am devasted. I am going this week to my primary to figure this out, it's seems that when my neurologist prescribed this for my migraines and placed me 3times a day is when I started to see the end result.

Hi, I lost 16 inches of my hair 180mg of medication took 3 months to come off. Slight palpitations, bow down to 30mg no more migraines.

I used to take Collagen even while taking it but my hair was still falling out.
I only need to take Inderal when doing strenuous activity so I can get off it anytime as my doctor said. Once I stopped taking it, my hair was back to growing in a month. It might take a little bit longer for hair to grow if you've been taking the medication for a long time thought but it will grow back.

I took it about 2 months. 2x a day. Honestly I thought I was going to go bald. In my case even if I did stop it, my hair was still so thin.. BUT at least the hair fall wasn't as extreme anymore I noticed it around 5 days after stopping it.. I suppose you can take it once a week if needed but if you've lost an amount of hair it will take some time before it thickens again. Goodluck and hope all goes well!

I have been on 80 mg for over a year and the hair loss I have had is really quite shocking and frightening, was not told of that side affect when I started them for anxiety!my hair was very long but now a thin frizzy mess!

My hair continues to fall out for a few months after stopping. At around 2 months of stopping, I noticed it fell out really easily for a few days to a week, during that week if I ran my hand through my hair clumps would come out. Once that subsided, my hair stopped falling out and has been looking a lot healthier and darker, id still say it is not as thick as it was (probably bc not all the hairs have grown back, yet...?) but it looks a lot better than it did 4 months ago and is a lot stronger now.

Very similar case as “Magic”, 25 y/o male on propranolol on an as-needed basis. Maybe used one or two pills a month for about two years. Stopped mid August 2017 because the back of my head was noticeably thinning. I thought mostly it was MPB, but my father had full thick hair.

What tipped me as unusual, but something that I haven’t yet seen here, is my scalp had been itching where it was thinning. I remember when I began the drug, that was concurrent with onset scalp itchiness. Didn’t think anything of it, but just got head and shoulders and brushed it off.

I guess after two years, the effects just set in- more thinning and pretty bad itchiness- and I decided to try to make do without the drug.

After five months off propranolol, my hair has definitely improved. Itchiness- down, hair- thicker, less frizzy, etc. Before, any time I’d simply TOUCH my hair, some came out. Very frustrating. Combing the hair, same deal. Now? Much stronger, and healthier, but not 100%. I’ve read you need to give it three to 10 months to get back to normal.

As for getting off propranolol, it is crucial to improve your diet and exercise. Breathing techniques help quell my nerves as well.

No significant weight gain. Stopped propranolol about 8 weeks ago but have not seen any improvement to my thinning hair. Am now using REGAINE FOR WOMEN 5% as I’m desperately trying to improve my thinning hair.

Hair def came out back down to 30 mg from 180 Hair came back!!! Water weight it goes away

Ask your doctor for a calcium channel blocker instead of a beta blocker which is what Inderal (propranolol) is.

I've got the same problem! I'm 49 and started taking propranolol for migraines 8 months ago. Finally something that actually works- Then I notice my hair is falling out! This sucks!

Regina, they say the hair loss is reversible after you stop taking Propranolol.

I have been on 40 mg for around two years I am on a six week programme to ween of I am virtually bald I regret ever taking this stuff. I was wondering if my hair will return after I stop it. I had full head of hair before I am a male aged 48 . I have stopped taking amloddopine as this is bad also. It's worse on the back and crown. I have been told to drop to 30 then 20 then 10 and stop. Please can anyone advise me

I am losing hair so rapidly that it is devastating. I'm feel that I will be totally bald. And I have gained a lot of weight. But I'm so stressed. I eat when I'm stressed. So don't know if I can say that is from the medication. I take 80 mg a day. But I have been taking it for some years.

I took propranol for just 2 months and lost a large amount of hair.
It's so thin now.
I was on a very low dose for migraines.
Will it grow back?
What can I do to promote growth?

Thank you for the reply and the reassurance! In your opinion if you take it as needed, do you think hair will still grow back if I were to take it in a limited once or twice a week manner? I am trying to get off it for at least a month or so to see what happens but I must admit the medication did its job well with my public speaking events
