Hi, I know how you feel. I live in R.I. and have been on Fentanyl 100mg for 11 years. Plus an assortment of cut through meds and muscle relaxers, sleep meds, what ever I found that helped OTC. You name it I took it for pain. My Dr. was arrested for over prescribing meds-with 4 overdoses. I was strung along being told I had a replacement Dr. Just before I was jumping shower the phone rang. Pain clinic no Dr. Screwed I thought I really need this for pain. I scrambled for days with no luck. I ended up in Soboxen clinic. They lied and said it killed pain. They had a Dr. there who looked at the meds I was on and called a detox hospital. I was afraid of the withdrawals. After 2 days of hell in there. I realized it was scam. I checked out and I am on day 20 off opiates. Withdrawals are bad but well worth the ride. So HAPPY to be free of drugs. The original pain is there but very weak from how it was. I looked deep into Fentanyl patch it was designed for end of life. Cancer. That drug has over 75 side effects 80% of witch had. I am only on Tylenol now. Feel tired but alive again. Takes time to get out of your system as it soaks into every part of your body. Look at Fentanyl withdrawal sites. You will find hundreds if not thousands of posts. This way you know what to expect. I didn't experience any exorcist type withdrawals some wrote about. If you stay on that drug you will die early. Please get off it. You will get your life back as well as less pain and way better mobility. Takes time I finally crashed today. That means I am on the way up. I wish I knew this 11 years ago. Also opiates destroy your nerves . Plus it increases pain sensitivity. Teeth gums mouth deep muscle pain etc. Devil drug. You will find support through these site's although they are not as current as this site. Best of luck. Don't be scared it really does not compare to what you have already gone through. You will be very happy to kick the monkey. 157.5 to 202 % stronger than morphine drip. That I found on an old Jansen site. They called it a conservative study. My oldest and closest brother O.D on it 4 years ago. Do you need the strongest drug ever engineered. Seems that everyone off it has the same feelings. Best of luck I know you can do it. Nobody dies from withdrawals. You will need counseling after as we take the drug we bury our emotional pain. Carl
Hello Verwon,
No unfortunately I haven't had any luck at all, I'm seriously thinking about reporting my doctor who without reason or warning cut me off all the sudden after filling my meds since 2006 every month and he is the one who told me personally that I was NOT to stop taking the meds due to the adverse reactions if I did without help such as unbearable withdrawls one goes through if u do. I can certainly sympathize with H addicts now I have a compassion for people who have found themselves with that monkey on their back. Not one person who is junkie woke up one day and said hey I want to be addicted to H when I grow up,nor did I ask for my "EX" to beat me to point of having 3emergency spinal surgeries and end up with chronic pain and on fentanyl patches which by the way is much stronger than herion and it is doctors who put me and kept me on fentanyl for pain control, and it actually gave me a better quality of life and now cant find one who is willing to listen to my side of story if they would just look at my chart they could see that I've been on it for past 9 yrs without problems. I don't know who to contact I have medicare / Medicaid the one doc I found in Dallas who does prescribe the patches doesn't take Medicare and I cant afford the 250.00 office visit so if u know of any doctors or pain management in Dallas area please let me know
Unfortunately I've had no luck what so ever. I'm just really upset that these doctors offices that I have contacted are telling me they can't help me that they do NOT PRESCRIBE NARCOTICS OMG!!! I just don't get it, it was the texas back institute in Plano, tx that started me on the high doses of fentynal patches back in 2005 and now they tell me they don't prescribe ANY NARCOTICS PLEASE!! I have contacted at least 15 different docs including pain management the ONLY ONE THAT SCHEDULED me an appt. Called and unscheduled me the day before my appt. I was livid I've been a model patient for past 10 yrs. I don't understand why my doc of past 14;yrs has done me so wrong and cut me off with.no warning I've found out I'm not the only one he's done that way apparently he decided he needed to cover his own ass for some reason I'm not sure why all the sudden he turned on me. I do know at first I wasHaving to see him EVERY month to get my meds for approx a yr then one day I called to make my usual monthly appt. And his nurse asked me if it was just for refills I said yes and she tells me that he will probably go ahead añd fill my script & that I don't need to come in for that due to he (the doc) had got in to some trouble with the statei asked for what she tells me cause a patient turned him in for over booking. Now I know legally he is suppose to see me at LEAST EVERY 3 months with the types of narcoctics I was on, but they didn't make me come in for an appt. For 2yrs after that then not again for another 2yrs so in last 4 yrs he's seen me twice. But that's not my fault there were times he wud leave on vacation KNOWING MY MEDS COME DUE EVERY MONTH YET HE WOULDNT LEAVE MY SCRIPTS AND I WOULD HAVE TO GO WITHOUT OR GO TO ER OR GET STREET DRUGS for the 2 wks he would be gone but if I asked to get them filled just a day at most 2 days earliy so I could go out of town it was always ABSOLUTELY NOT .I really thunk he is extremely bipolar. Anyway so no I haven't had ANY LUCK ITS TERRIBLE THESE SO CALLED DOCTORS HAVE GIVEN ME NO CHOICE BUT TO HAVE TO DO STREET DRUGS ITS SO WRONG AND UNFAIR
Hello, Donna! Have you found a new doctor, yet?
Due to the new regulations that were enacted this year, if you require such a medication on a long-term basis for chronic pain, you'll likely need to see a pain management specialist.
In most cases, that'll require a referral from a PCP. Have you found a PCP?
Learn more Fentanyl details here.
Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area?
