I Was Prescribed Percocet? I Got Oxycodone At The Pharmacy?

Not everyone is seeking to feel high! Some people just had major surgery on their arm in which they are dependent on a powerful pain reliever to be able to function, combined with physical therapy! Until you have sustained an injury such as this, please don't judge! In my opinion, or at least my situation, I was prescribed a prescription to Percocet, in which I was given Oxycodone, which I believe to be the same active ingredient as Percocet and Oxycontin, except with the anti-inflammatory of acetaminophen. Excuse my misspellings. I'm just interested in the difference! As I don't won't to be a gimp all my life. I'm only 43, and became disabled and unemployed due to a simple fall.

Yes, Percocet, as listed by the FDA, would contain Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, not just Oxycodone.

The FDA classifies this as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Acetaminophen isn't an anti-inflammatory, its an analgesic that can augment the action of the Oxycodone for some people that take it.

If the pharmacy gave you just Oxycodone, rather than the Oxycodone/Acetaminophen combination that you were prescribed, then they made an error and you should inform them of it.

Thanks so much for the info. They did give me Oxecodone/acemetaphine. I was told that they called it Oxecodone vs. Oxecottin due to the difference of one have acemetaphine in it. I'm just trying to take the proper amounts. Also, now that we are on the subject, why is acetametaphine not a pain reliever? What's an analgesic? What's the difference? What's the difference between ibuprofen and acetametaphine? Sorry, as I'm sure I'm buchering all the names. I'm just so ready to be healed or come to a level of acceptable pain. This sucks!

I am prescribed oxycodone 20 mg without tylenol. I ran out early and took an oxycodone with Tylenol. Will a drug panel show my doctor that I am taking my regular meds?

Acetaminophen is a pain reliever, that's what analgesic means.

Ibuprofen is listed by the FDA as being in a different drug class, it is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that can treat pain, fever and swelling. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation.

Mary, it depends on what type of panel is done. It may show you low, so they know you didn't take your usual dosage.

Yes, oxycodone is Percocet. And YES, I don't "party" on pain pills. I am permanently disabled on top of other injuries sustained in life. I need them to function as well as I can. I'm tired of doctors who don't know a patient from an addict too

Hi new...I also am disabled(permanently) from random accidents occuring in life. I have been up down and around negotiating the System which puts doctors/health care professionals in a judge's chair.
I'm 51, disabled, metal where bones and cartiledge should be and in an ongoing struggle to navigate thru this health care system.
Opiod analgesics are a very needed piece of my health care but LICENSED doctors bend to to FDA, CDC guidelines w/o concern for their patients. W/O these meds (and other added modalities of treatrment), daily life would be a catastrphy.
Chronic pain is being managed under a microscope.
Sick of being judged as a recreational drug abuser.
Opiates are specific to pain control...
