I Need Help With My Side Effects!

I'm prescribed 25mg xR Adderall, and have been for about a year, year and a half. I absolutely love the stuff, nothing has ever worked for me the way this med does! I've been on anti-anxiety and anti-depressants, I've tried Wellbutrin and Ritalin. Nothing ever worked. But I feel like Adderall kick starts me, and puts me in some kind of "bubble" where I can be productive, stay motivated and focused and the energy! The energy is my favorite part. I don't feel like I'm dragging myself around anymore, I can keep moving without wandering off in my mind or being half asleep. It's great. BUT...
as everybody knows it has it's "crash", headaches, nausea, tiredness or laziness, not being able to focus and hunger.
I get all of that. Not always the headaches or nausea but sometimes. I like to eat something before I take my Adderall, or else I do feel sick if I'm on it with an empty stomach. But by the end of the day when I feel myself starting to come down- normally between 5-8 hours after taking it, I feel physically very lazy, all I want to do is lay down, relax, but I HAVE to have my computer with me because my mind is still going. Like my body is ready to shut off but my brain just wants to browse the internet, watch videos, reply to e-mails etc. but the worst part is the hunger.
OMG, the HUNGER! my stomach is growling while I'm typing this, and it hurts! I get so hungry but literally NOTHING seems appealing to me. I open the fridge like 10 times trying to talk myself into eating something but nothing looks good or sounds good. Like the thought of eating anything just grosses me out but I'm so hungry and I want to eat. It's seriously so confusing and frustrating.
My boyfriend gets mad at me because he thinks I'm just being picky but that's not it! I want to eat, I just hate the idea of food.
I have to force feed myself most of the time because the hunger pains are so bad.
Any idea on how I can solve this issue?
Another thing is, because my body is so tired and lazy it will take me HOURS to even move toward the kitchen when the hunger pains start. Like, I'm too tired/lazy to cook something... But I want to eat, I just don't have the motivation to make it... HELP!

Hello, ChellahBellz! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having.

First, your boyfriend needs to stop getting mad at you. I can assure you both that it is not just you being picky. As listed by the FDA, this medication can cause weight loss and anorexia, in some people that take it. It is well known to do so.

What you need to do is make yourself eat something. I've been here with medications before, so I know how it feels, but being very tiny, I also know how important it is that I eat. My solution was to always keep some of my favorite health snacks around, like crackers, cheese, fruit snacks and yogurt and I made myself eat something, even if they really didn't appeal. You are an adult, so you do need to do the responsible thing and make yourself eat. Gather some of your favorite stuff to keep around and just mindlessly munch, when necessary, rather than worrying about what is or isn't appealing. Even nuts or trail mix can help curb the hunger and restore some energy.

And as to the crash, you may need a dosage adjustment. Have you discussed these symptoms with your doctor?

This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause other side effects, such as headache, irritability and insomnia.
