I Need Help Getting Benzodiazepines In North Carolina Or I'm Afraid I Will Be Back On Pain Killers (Page 2)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I must have called 20 or more doctors today. None of them will prescribe me benzodiazepines such as Klonopin at all. I'm 25 and have been on it since I was 16 and they just simply say "no one in the state will prescribe those thanks for calling".

I'm near Charlotte but right now I would drive anywhere to get them because in a week or two I will be deathly sick and I can't face that. I just moved across the country away from my family, stopped my addiction to pain killers (that was caused by anxiety), and I'm trying to better my life. And to make it worse I'm having such a hard time living on my own mentally and they want me to stop all benzos. PLEASE HELP ME if you know of anyone who can help. {edited for privacy}

Re: Tiger lily (# 25) Expand Referenced Message

Oh believe me Tiger lily I'm a throwaway patient too! I worked for 20 yrs at a co. and then started my own mfg. company producing products for the defense industry and I was well on my way. Did that for 10 yrs until my ex husband ruined all that. I no longer can work from all the hard label of working on machines and running a business, so yeah I'm on disability so I'm a peon too. I know they want to kill off people like us. When my brother was still alive they'd RX him medications that were fatal when taken together so there's definitely a conspiracy going on between some of these doctors and the government. And hell yes the lawmakers in DC can get whatever the hell they want to abuse. Like these cop shows, Live PD, notice all these cops want when they stop someone in a traffic stop are drugs! You can't tell me they aren't drug seekers and don't dip their hands into what they confiscate and also when they confiscate drug money, there's no one policing the police. It's pretty bad when people who are in severe pain with proof have to suffer because of the drug addicts that chose to get addicted. These young people tell their parents they got addicted after a simple surgery, that is such B.S! They give you enough for like 3 to 5 days and after that your major pain should have subsided but these people lie to the doctor to get more or go to a new doctor to get more and this is when you can call the addiction a choice! There should be no problem stopping after 3 to 5 days.

I think calling and asking directly for a Benzodiazepine is the red flag they’re reacting negatively toward. I would say you need the first available appointment, that you have to get established as a new patient, and continue treatment for a long term anxiety disorder. Explain that you just moved here, and you had no referrals from your previous doctors where you moved from. Explain that you’ve been on “.....” prescription(s), and what your milligram dosage is per day, and how long you’ve been on it. I think it’s medically irresponsible if they don’t AT THE VERY LEAST wean you down properly. There are some large practices like Cabarrus family medicine, where they have a ton of locations. They’re part of CMC. The other big hospital and doctors offices is Novant. If worse comes to worst, go to their emergency room. Please post back here and let me know how you’re doing. Hang in there! You’re definitely not alone in this struggle...

Re: Tiny Dancer (# 24) Expand Referenced Message

You are so right. It's a knee-jerk reaction from the early 2000s when the doctors had the prescription pad out and writing anything and everything for anyone. If they came in for a hangnail they were given oxycodone. Now we the true people that need the drugs to live a halfway decent life I'm not even asking for a decent life anymore are labeled attics and slammed on Suboxone or methadone if that. It's wrong. Do you think that those lawmakers in Washington DC and around the country are doing without? Do you think that they're not abusing the stuff for fun? I believe not. I believe that there are two standards here; one is for the higher echelon and for the second it's for the peons that they want to kill off and unfortunately I'm one of them. I'm a throwaway patient. And I have been assured that I'm not but here I am begging for help. My jaw joints were operated on three times and in 2001 they wanted to totally replace the joints but I refused to do so because I was allergic to the titanium. I have proof of that. I have proof that my back was broken in a head-on collision in the 80s. I have proof that I have a diffuse bulging disc in my lower back and it bulges to the right as well so bone is grinding on bone. I had four surgeries on my right arm last year alone period yet I'm an addict and I'm the scum of the Earth. I wish the so-called caring doctors would at least have to suffer our type of pain for at least a month without any pain relief as part of their training. Let them try to find a comfortable place to lay. Let them do their work every day without anything more than Advil or Tylenol like what they expect us to do. But that will never happen cuz they're too good for it.

Re: Hurting In Charlotte (# 20) Expand Referenced Message

I have a fractured back too plus Sponlothesis which is a vertebre going inward towards my spinal cord, also have Scoliosis, Stenosis, arthritis, Sciatica and anxiety/depression! Same problems here in TX. I have to drive 75 miles one way to my PM doctor as no doctors in my city RX narcotics! It's so effing annoying! I had a doctor about 5 years ago who was Rx'ing me 120 Hydrocodone and 150 Oxycodone/Roxys 30 mg. After 2 yrs. he suddenly tells me he's not going to be taking my ins anymore so I said I'd just pay in cash and he said that was against the law, I do not know why the Eff he did that, but of course I was addicted to the Roxys, literally went to 5 different doctors and they all had an excuse as to why they couldn't take me as a patient. One said she only did after surgery pain care, the other one I went to I couldn't urinate quick enough and they wouldn't wait. Finally went to the Back Institute and was referred to this one 75 miles away. I had to go cold turkey off the Roxys and Hydrocodone, they don't care, after a week I was fine and I used some Xanax I had to help me through it. Well now I only get 100 Hydrocodone 10 mg. and 60 Methadone 10 mg. I was getting 120 Hydro and 90 Methadone but of course they cut me down. Why are medical doctors allowing the CDC/Government to dictate to them what and how much to RX to their patients? Are these doctors a bunch of wusses or what? They need to stand up to these crazy S.O.B.s! When you have legitimate pain and MRI's to prove it, there should be no question as to help the patient. The problems began when doctors were RX'ing to anyone who came in w/ no evaluations and complaining of pain, then they cut them off so they went to heroin.

Why in the heck are they NOT keeping track of who's buying all the booze? Alcohol kills way more people than narcotics do. They keep track of how much medicine you're getting, what happened to privacy laws, HIPPA? This is such an invasion of privacy and I think we should all file a legal suit. So many people are suffering because of these effs! Well, I want to see a tracking system for alcohol and limit what they can all buy, it's the SAME thing, it'd never happen because all the folks that work for the government are alcoholics! Seriously, this is SUCH an invasion of privacy!! I had to go the ER several years ago for an abscessed tooth, my face was swollen the size of a small football and my pain meds weren't touching this awful pain, this woman doctor went out of my room and to the computer in the middle of all the rooms, she then SCREAMS OUT "You've BEEN FLAGGED, YOU'RE getting 120 of these and 150 of those" so loud that everyone in the other rooms heard and this b**** made me look like some drug seeker. I was literally SO upset I was sobbing not to mention the effing pain I was in. She was calling me a drug addict. I said "I NEVER asked to be put on that medication and I have a broken back among other things, etc". I was LIVID!! LIVID! How was that even legal for her to shout out that info so everyone there could hear? I really don't think it's legal for the government to be keeping track of who takes what when it comes to controlling your effing pain!! I've really had it with this B.S., I don't even like taking the crap I take but I have no choice, I'd be laying in bed all day unable to move if I didn't take anything. I seriously can't even believe this is going on in 2018. Doctors know good and well who needs meds and the fakers who are looking for a high! I just think there will be a lot more illicit drug deaths because of them doing this. More and more people will get fed up and turn to illicit drugs to control their pain. Morphine/Dilaudid is a man-made heroin.

Re: Stephie (# 21) Expand Referenced Message

If the doctor thinks in his professional opinion you need a benzo. He can prescribe it. A patient saying they need a particular drug does not mean they do. Nor does it mean the doctor should or will prescribe it. There are other medications that can be used in the place of benzos.

What if a person genuinely needs a benzodiazepine? I initiated tapering down from 4 mg of Klonopin day to getting off of it when I thought things were somewhat fine in my life. Now I see that I was naïve about doctors prescribing things in our telling them you want to try to get off. I am going through the hardest thing of my life. If I don’t have something to calm my nerves, I’ll go down.

Re: Melody (# 6) Expand Referenced Message

What a blessing it would be to get scripts for klonopin and methadone. My doctor retired and I've been left out in the cold and made to be an addict just looking for jolly times. I've been diagnosed PTSD, severe depression, panic disorder, anxiety disorder etc. On top of that back broken L1L2, diffuse bulging disk L3L4, my SI joints are destroyed causing sciatica. My knees buckle without warning as I walk making me fall. I live in constant pain bough physical and mental. I would so vee much appreciate your doctor info to maybe get some help I desperately need. Of cousin îl I'd NEVER disclose how I obtained doctor's info. From one pain person to another I implore you for contact info.

Just moved to North Carolina in mount airy near zip code 27030. I am 39 years old and I've been on Xanax since I was 18 years old. I'm looking for a doctor who will give me no hassles to prescribe me my prescription that I've been on for so many years.

Hey Dodge Ram,

I'll see you it has been a while since you have posted this comment. Don't feel alone because I'm in the Charlotte area myself but the only reason I've even been that have an access to benzos is my neurologist for 7 years but I think he's getting ready to pull something himself so I will be right back where I started from just like you. I know what chronic pain is like and I have lived with it for about 8 years now and I have been from one pain center to another they are all different but yet in some ways they are all alike just out for money but not really caring that much for the patient. Try being on Dilaudid for 2 years and then your pain doctor coming up telling you he wants you off of benzos just out of the blue. He had over a year to tell me to get off of that medicine if he had a problem with it but it is prescribed by another doctor and I have been on benzos for 7 years myself so 3 months is hardly enough time for me to wean off of it but he just said that if benzos were in my system that he would cut my pain medicine way down. This doctor is the first one that actually prescribe something that help my pain out of all the doctors I've been to and now after 2 years it has come to a halt because I just said that it would be hard to go off of it in three months time since I've been on it for 7 years so the staff twisted everything around telling him that I'm refusing to go off of benzos but he did say he would treat me not dismiss me, but that is exactly what he did. He never really gave me a chance to see if I could go off of the benzos and now I'm sitting here with no pain doctor, 3 weeks away from being out of pain medicine, and my neurologist is wanting to see me all of a sudden so who knows what he's going to pull and I'm thinking that maybe to get me off the benzos then I will go completely crazy. I did see one of his colleagues the other day who was the sleep doctor but she wasn't even a very good sleep doctor because she was against ambien or any other pill that would help you sleep let alone helping me with benzos or pain control because she really downplayed withdrawal like it was just uncomfortable but what it is is Hell on Earth.

Are you still in Charlotte and have you found anyone to help you with the benzos or the pain or both? Please let me know if you have and you are still in Charlotte because I could sure use the help. Thank you!?

JLP..... I really hope you have found someone and hope that I can do the same because my pain meds are not going to last much longer and I am hoping that my doctor does not recommend going to a psychiatrist after treating me for 7 years with benzos because the psychiatrist just wants to push antidepressants on you and that is not for me!?? I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi WWKidd:

I noticed the post about being in North Carolina and trying to get access to benzos or taking pain medicine. You know, I am really floored by all this controversy surrounding benzos and pain meds because I have never had to choose between the two for as long as I have been on both which is about 7 years maybe 8 years. What really sucks for me right now is I have been going to a doctor for pain going on about 2 years now who prescribes me a real decent level of pain meds which is Dilaudid. I can't think of a time when I have ever even been prescribed something like Dilaudid for ongoing pain or everyday chronic back pain. My significant other have been around and around when it comes to pain clinics for the past six to eight years which has been emotionally not to mention psychologically + physically draining. I don't know if you are still in the Charlotte area because I noticed your post was from a year maybe two years ago but I noticed that one of the responses was not too long ago this year so I thought I'd take a stab at it to see if anyone else is experiencing the same problem or similar in the Charlotte, North Carolina area? Your post was some time ago so are you still in the Charlotte, North Carolina area and looking for a doctor? If you are in the Charlotte, North Carolina area and have not found a Doctor by now of course that would be very scary to know but don't give up hope because I know I'm not. I am not going to lie to you because I'm certainly close to the edge on this thing and have thought about throwing my hands up in the air many many times especially since the last problem took place with a pain clinic because believe me they can discharge you for anything including maybe looking at them the wrong way that day. First off, I could write a book about the experiences that I have had between pain doctors, family doctors, and GI doctors, ER doctors and the only other doctor is probably my. neurologist who has been with me for 7 years or a maybe I've been with him but I think he's getting ready to pull something too. I saw your post regarding the benzos and having such a hard time getting anyone to write it out but I do think that was an awful thing to say to you when that lady told you that you would not be able to get anyone to write them in this state because that is just wrong! I am not going to lie to you because it will be a challenge especially if you talked to 20 doctors meaning you called 20 doctor's offices and ask them if they wrote out benzos which I have always been told that was not cool to just call doctors office at random and ask them about benzos or even worse if you have to give them your name then they ask you about your medication because that's a lot of doctors to turn you down. I admit that I would probably be freaking if I had called 20 doctors and none of them were willing to write you out benzo diazepam. I still don't think it's true what that lady said to you about not being able to get benzodiazepines in Charlotte, North Carolina anywhere.

Did you just move to this area & from where if u don't mind me asking? How long were I on them & how long have I been w/out them? That can cause seizures suddenly stopping them even after taking them a month. That is what happened to me once in 2008 when I first discovered my anxiety\panic attacks. I was actually in the ER for sumthin else like a bladder infection but I was pacing & jumpy not sure what was going on. I told the nurse & she later gave me a shot of Ativan which calmed my jumpy ass down in less than 2 minutes. I got a script for about ten pills. I followed up w/ my PCP at the time telling him what was going on. I was hoping for an Ativan script since I do not tolerate antidepressants. I know it has been said not to ask Dr.'s for a specific drug since it would label one as a "drug-seeker" but if they ask me if sumthin I took worked or not then I am not going to lie just to make them or the DEA happy. This horse's ass puts me on Paxil instead which I expressed my discomfort w/ that since it was just another antidepressant. The idiot didn't listen & I promised I would try one more which was a mistake. I was on Tramadol at the time prescribed by him & he should have known better. My better half witnessed me having a Grand Mal seizure three days in which we had these two female paramedics who didn't know their ass from a hole in the ground. They couldn't tell that I had a seizure. I knew sumthin was wrong but I was in a fog plus hallucinating. It states in the pamplet of Tramadol that Paxil can increase the risk of seizures. The doctor should have known that but never took the blame. He blamed it on withdrawing from narcotics. Tramadol is a synthetic narcotic & I never had trouble until then. I will get into my other seizure later w/ the same doctor. My mom witnessed that one & it was bad. I don't know what type of Dr.'s you called but sometimes you have to go to a specialist like a "shrink" as much as it irritates me to say that b/c I am afraid they will push antidepressants on me. I met my Neurologist 7 years ago when I was brought in w/ my second seizure. I had to stay in the hospital a week w/ them running evaluations for epilepsy which were negative. My Neurologist took over my Ativan then later Klonopin. I can tell you it would help you to have your previous medical records which include your Benzos & why you were on them. Did you go to a specialist or PCP for them? Most PCP's won't touch it. I met a sleep doctor there who was a total waste of time & $ even if it was a $35.00 copay. She asked me if I tried a sleep pill & I told her Ambien. She asked if it helped & I said yes but she started bad-mouthing Ambien then asked me if I had a valid driver license & I was wondering "what in the hell does that have to do w/ anything"? She asked me if I ever fell asleep while driving to which I said "now, I wouldn't be here if I did". She went on bad-mouthing Klonopin which my Neurologist prescribes me for 7 years now & I am in-between pain doctors since my last one discharged after 2 yrs. He had me on the strongest & most effective pain meds that I needed for my back pain plus he knew I was on Klonopin the whole time from another Dr. His concern was not raising my dosage too high which was fine but he did not want me taking them together. The Neurologist got cute this yr. & decides to write out my Klonopin by the week instead of the month. After 3 months of that, the pain Dr. comes in "out of nowhere" & tells me he wants my drug panel negative for Klonopin next time in three months. It had to be seeing Klonopin every week that caught the pain doctor's attention.

Never mind that it was the same amt. of pills as if it would have been prescribed by the month. He saw it so many times on the DEA report freaked him out then it freaked me out what he was saying after 7 yrs. being on Benz is & 2 yrs. on Dilaudid with the exception of the first time he wrote out Oxy 15's which I had been on enough to develop a tolerance. It is hard to tell a doctor that a med is not working anymore w/out them thinking the patient is a drug-seeker. Tell me anyone; what in the hell is someone supposed to say; that it works well when it doesn't? No, I didn't play that game but I asked as delicately as possible if he would consider the 30mg & he went thru the roof! He said to me "that is not happening in this office"!! Wow, I guess I set someone's pants on fire! I had a few other Dr.'s like that about 30mg. I am not sure if that is everywhere or just here. He was going to print another script for 15 mg & I spoke up asking if he would consider anything else. He mentioned Hydromorphone which is generic for Dilaudid. It was ok until he wanted me to go off Klonopin all of a sudden. I told them it would be hard but I would try & I asked for a sub for Klonopin but No one ever answered that ? It was his way or the highway with no ?'s allowed. They took my questioning as refusing to go off Klonopin & let me go just like that & now, the Neurologist wants to meet w/ me & I am nervous afraid he is going to try to take me off Klonopin. I am concerned he will listen to that sleep doctor with her big mouth about Klonopin & she was so useless to me that I want my $ back! She all but called me a drug seeker to my face! Dr.'s like that are a dime a dozen. She works in the same bldg. & I don't trust her. I need my Neurologist to help me w/ pain meds until I can get to a back specialist or pain doctor. I only have three weeks worth of meds & I should not have to go thru withdrawal with all the Neurologist that work in that office. I am only asking for temp. help until I can get in somewhere. She downplayed my pain & mentioned arthritis which I have but there is more to my pain causing constant burning & scraping daily enough to use ice paks around the clock. She even downplayed how bad withdrawal is calling it "uncomfortable". It goes WAY beyond that & the pain is excruciating. She said it was not life-threatening but what if it so bad that a person don't eat for 5 days like me while throwing up acid. How long can that go on B4 it B-comes life-threatening? In my opinion, she is an insensitive i****! I feel the same way about any doctor that downplays pain, withdrawal, or suggests a psychiatrist for anxiety or pain. They push antidepressants on ppl & I have been on enough. They are scared to death of "controlled substance" even if it is warranted. I am afraid of my Neurologist playing games now. I am going to try to find out what this is about B4 I go in since I don't trust them. That Klonopin is all I will have & I think it is B.S. to allow true pain patients to suffer. The only reason I would need a "shrink" is B/c they drove me crazy! Let me know how you are doing w/ your Benzo hunt since I may need one too plus a good pain Dr. & PCP lastly. Maybe we can help each other if you are still near Charlotte, NC.

I heard of a website called Pro Publica from someone named Keikee on here that list prescribing info. on Dr.'s in every state. Keilee, if you get this, pls let me know if that is right. I won't keep living this way. Take narcotics back overseas if they are bad for everyone even chronic pain patients. Hey, Doc., DEA, FBI, & local police; why not go out & Chase some real criminals for a change. I will NOT keep living this way w/ my back scraping & burning like hell w/ no hope insight! Why don't you all judging us chronic pain patients try living this way daily for a week or month w/ no help in site.? No damn wonder the suicide rate is so high among chronic pain patients! Oh yeah, don't EVER tell the medical profession or law enforcement that you are suicidal since you can't get out of pain B/c they for sure you won't get anything for pain even intravenously. Instead of helping w/ the problem, they treat I like a mental case making the pain worse which is why you feel this way in the first place! It is not like you can overdose on an I.V. It is so F****D UP! WAKE UP, AMERICA!! Keep in touch. If you are in
Charlotte still, let me know if you have any luck! I will let you all know what I can get out of the nurse about this appt. It can't be good! I can't take it anymore! WAKE up medical profession; you better listen to your patients. Just b/c you can"t see the pain does not mean it is not there & YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE IN A WHEELCHAIR TO HAVE PAIN! Sorry so long.

Hey , best I can tell you is Pain Management of NC in Pinehurst , NC , but they will only see you with a referral from another Dr. , say ur primary MD ... They CDC , and DEA are behind people having to choose between benzo's or pain meds .... Try Buspar as an alternative for anxiety ..... Best of luck

I have a question. First of all, I need advice from anyone within a 40 to 50 mile radius of Charlotte, North Carolina who has a good pain doctor that does not judge and writes out pain medicine that actually works. I have to find a new pain doctor because the one I have had for 2 years is wanting to take me off of benzos which work for my anxiety and I've been on benzos for 7 years. This pain doctor knew that I was on benzos for the past two years in which she was prescribed and me a dose of pain medicine that has worked well for me and now he wants to come up and blackmail me telling me that I can go off of the benzos or he will reduce my level of pain medicine. He could have told me that a year or two ago if he thought that the benzos were a problem but now he is not giving me much time at all to wean off of benzos and try to find another medicine that works for my anxiety and then hope that it is not in my system next time I go see him but I think the better thing for me to do is to also start looking for another pain doctor in the process. Mainly because he was so arrogant about it and he has never really been that personal with me as a doctor but just would come in the room and be there for Less Than 3 minutes while handing me my prescriptions then walking out.. the only thing he told me last year was that he could not raise my pain medicine do to the benzos which was fine with me but now he comes up out of the blue want me to go off of them which is very dangerous and he doesn't seem to care about whether my anxiety is controlled or how it is controlled but the pain plus the anxiety go hand-in-hand. I need to talk to the doctor that prescribes me the benzos but it may be a few weeks before I can get him to talk to him face-to-face and I am going to let him know in the process that I am looking for a new pain doctor because he needs to know that the benzos are all that has worked for me ever. I am really afraid of all this because I cannot take antidepressants because they make me feel like I am strung out and I cannot tolerate that feeling plus I do not know anything else that will work but I know that most medicines take awhile to get into your system to even work. I do not even have a primary doctor to ask about prescribing something like Ambien to help me sleep at night which would be of a great help. I have noticed that there are not many post on here from the North Carolina area and every time I click on my email for this website it goes straight to Colorado. There has to be more post for North Carolina than this and I really need some help from people who are in the North Carolina area to go to pain doctors because I do not have a long time to work with us and find somebody decent which I hope that I don't have to travel all over the state to find somebody good but I am willing to travel a certain distance to get somebody but going out of state is not an option because then they would be suspicious of that too. How do I find all the North Carolina post and know if I am doing this right because I really need some help from other people but going to the Colorado Post are not going to help me too much. Any help on that would be greatly helpful as to how I can get to the North Carolina post. My question is that if people can not post their contact information and they are not able to list the doctor that they go to if they found somebody good then how is anybody supposed to get any help from this website to find a good doctor? I understand the Privacy issue and not being able to put the contact information out in the open but it seems like there would be a private chat or something like that so that members could exchange dr. Information. I have noticed that people are just putting the city and state where the doctors are if they found somebody good but that doesn't really tell you anything because you need the doctor's name if you're going to go to them and try them out to see if they work for you so how does this really work if you want to use the site to help you find somebody good due to somebody else's experience? Can you help me out here because I'm really trying to find out if there are people in North Carolina that maybe have found a great Doctor Who is compassionate and non-judgmental when it comes to prescribing medicine that will help them with their pain but I also want to know how do people go about given that information out or are we just supposed to guess because we can't go to Every doctor in the phone book to figure out who it is or there would be no use for a site like this if that was the case? Can someone please help me out here preferably somebody from the North Carolina area and how will I know if somebody response to this post or any of my post because I am not getting any response in my email other than that same one from Colorado? I would appreciate the help and please let me know how I need to do this because I am sure some people may have been helped by the information they have found on this site but I don't know how because I don't want to be going through withdrawal for a month in pain plus being sick because of some ass that does not know how to treat people like human beings. I need to start planning while I'm waiting to get in to see my other doctor. He leaves it to me to find a pain doctor and he does not get involved in my pain management which is unfortunate. Thank you in advance for the help.
