I Have Caught Cvs And Other Pharmacies Lying About Not Having Oxycodone In Stock, Shortage 2012 (Page 5)

Updated

Well today I officially caught a cvs here in Ga lying to me. A friend of mine filled his Meds yesterday. I go in, having a history with cvs, a recent one, and am immediately lied to. The pharmacist comes over and tells me they haven't had them in stock for months, without looking at his book or computer. At this point I stated an employee I know the name of told me shipment came in Thursday. He lied again. I then told him friend had filled yesterday morning. He said it was impossible. I then said I saw the bottle with my own eyes, it had their address on it, and even told him what brand they had since my friend just filled his there. Pharmacist lied to me yet again. I then asked him why he wad lying to me and that I am tired of being treated like a criminal because I am 30 with a handicapped tag and a four page long mri report for my neck, mid, and lower back. I just found out I have central and foramina stenosis in my lower back, yea!! He then asked me if I had been having trouble filling. I said yes, it seems a lot of pharmacies are lying about not having it in stock. I said it is easy to tell on how they look at you, treat you, and if they check their logbook which is required for all schedule two Meds. I then gave him a chance to not lie and said "so you mean you filled the last of your stock yesterday." Since he lied to me again I decided it was time to call his district manger. The info I told him was correct but he decided to lie so its not my fault if he gets fired. U am going to let his district manager know the whole story, and let them know that if something is not done I will contact the news about discrimination against a legit pain patient for them not to get their Meds and have a normal life. They won't want bad press that is for sure, esp since I have a handicapped tag. I am in their system for filling the exact Meds I brought in, they have my discount card on file also, and my whole family uses their pharmacy so these ate the thongs I will tell district. Any other pharmacies who lie I will do the same thing to. So it seems the shortage going on here in Georgia and Florida are manipulated by the pharmacies and the distributors. Mckesson isn't shipping them out to rite aid, wal mart, sams, and Target. They are afraid of getting fined like a few years ago or getting in trouble like cardinal, cvs, walgreens, publix, and krogers distributor. Cardinal is still shipping from Mississippi and north Carolina, but not from Florida atm. The rest of the country is not having any problems, just Florida and Georgia. Since I have a lawsuit going against Allstate from my car accident(not my fault) and we are going after a doc who read someone else's mri to make his conclusion and type a bogus report to my insurance so they will not reimburse me anymore, we ate going after him for slander or defimation of character since he wrote I sell my Meds, maybe I can add cvs for pain and suffering and descrimination. This is absolutely rediculous these days. Sorry for the rant but people selling them ate making a killing these days and legit patients are going broke from price gouging or gas prices just so we can live a somewhat normal life. Makes no sense how out system works.

Exactly my point, Kristy. The DEA is slowly withdrawing this drug from the market. Is that not obvious? Yes, I know the other drugs out there are as addictive if not more than oxycodone, however they are more readily available. Oxycodone has got a bad "rap" from ppl who use it for reasons of selling it on the streets, etc. but there are a lot of ppl dying bc of the misuse and abuse of this drug. Im not against anyone having oxycodone for severe pain such as yours..however, you have to realize that there is a time coming (sooner than you think) that all dr's will stop prescribing this medication and you will be forced to go to something else to manage your pain. Im sorry if this is something you dont want to hear..but look at what's happening. You can't find it at most pharmacies anymore, shortages, pharmacies withholding it for their own choice of customers, outrageous prices, etc. I was once on oxycodone for severe pain but when I started having to go through being sick every single month bc I could not get my script filled I said the heck with it and just got off of it. I am now on a different pain med (milder but still addictive) and while it isn't the same as oxy for pain relief, I no longer have to go through what all you ppl are going through. I feel for you. I have been there..and done that. I hope things get better with this drug..but unfortunately it's VERY doubtful that it will. Im not against the use of oxycodone for ppl who "truly" have legit cases for the need for it. I have used it myself. I was on it for 3 years. But enough is enough. I asked myself is all this hassle worth this? Myself and my fiance' decided to come off it for all the reasons ppl have stated on here. It was tough..but we did it, and Im so glad I don't have to do the oxy "chase" anymore. Good luck to you, Kristy. Hope things work out for you and you are able to manage your pain without all the hassles.

Contemplating suicide bc you can't get "oxycodone"? Take a look ppl. And you wonder why the DEA is slowly withdrawing this drug from the market? This drug is dangerous in so many ways. It's so sad when a person feels there is no other recourse but suicide when they cannot get their oxycodone script. This is exactly only ONE of the negative reasons why the DEA is slowly withdrawing oxycodone from the market. The point I have been trying to make has been made by this post. There are "other" meds to treat your pain. Don't get to this point just bc of a drug. I find this to be very sad, indeed.

@MissBitter.. My mother lived for 3 and a half years with a blood disorder before she passed away. She went through blood transfusions weekly, chemotherapy, pain beyond exception or explanation, and NEVER once took a pain pill. I realize some ppl can't handle pain very well..but a blood disorder in and of itself does not cause extreme or unmanageable pain. My mother was living proof of that and she went through some real painful situations everyday of her life. And along with the blood disorder she also had bone cancer. Now this is talking about someone with REAL pain issues. Just saying.. Sorry about your condition. Wishing you well.

@ LadyRhinestone: please do not compare conditions or pain like that. It is extremely unusual for someone with conditions like bone cancer to never take a pain pill. SOME blood disorders aren't painful, some are excruciating. There are a multitude of them and are not in the same category pain wise. Also, people handle pain so differently they can NOT be compared. You clearly are not a medical professional or a chronic pain sufferer, and I don't mean that disrespectfully. It just comes with experience.

Sickle cell anemia: A genetic condition that affects mostly African-Americans. Periodically, red blood cells change shape, and block blood flow. Severe pain and organ damage can occur.

Is a blood disorder in and of itself that does cause major pain and discomfort. The manage part of it is so situational that no one can say anything to this but the patient and care giver. The point is yes there are some strand alone Blood Disorders that cause pain in and of themselves.

@ dr westcoast: I'm sorry, but after reading your post more carefully, it is clear you are not a medical doctor. Not because your answer is full of inconsistencies and false information (which it is), but because you think pharmacists know "the same information" as doctors. Wrong. They do not take anywhere NEAR the same classes as MDs. Their program is limited to their scope. To think the curriculum is the same is to simply not be a medical professional.

Right here is a clear and cut example of how people decide that they are mind readers and that a person complaining of pain MUST be lying and not in the pain they claim. It is SICK and SAD that people have to become the judge of others like this. Where is the compassion and caring? We are to take a person's word for it when they say they are on pain. That is being a human and treating some one with dignity and respect not trying to prove they are wrong. I am so upset that people in pain are having such a hard time all over the country getting relief from their pain simply because some people are skeptical or cynical and think they know what another feels.

@LadyRhinestone You can not base everyone's pain on your Mother's experience...we are all individuals and we are all different...your Mothers pain threshold might have been way higher then the other person's. What is your point even? That just because your mother's blood disorder did not cause her pain that no one's can cause them pain? This is a place for people to show compassion and support for those in chronic pain not a place to come and call a person a liar and try and prove they are not hurting.

@ Dr Dan S I am in the medical field and you sir are a liar and charlatan. You are no more a medical doctor then I am Queen Elizabeth and you did an extremely poor job trying to impersonate one. It saddens me that you would come on here and spew your rhetorical blabber and try to qualify your nonsense by taking the label of MD. By the way next time you play doctor remember this, " I am an MD" just like you play "an MMO" or you have "an MBA"/ You see the acronyms that begin with an "M" are one of the few places where the use of "an" is needed before a consonant.
Now to proclaim that a Doctor of Pharmacology has as much if not more knowledge then a medical doctor is one of the most ignorant statements I have ever read.
There is no such thing as a Doctor of Pharmacy by the way. A Doctor of Pharmacology holds a Doctorate in Pharmacology and is never referred to as a doctor of medicine. It would do you some good to research why that is the next time you play doctor.
The chemical compositions and their effects on the human body is what pharmacists study. Mostly the serum levels and toxicology not the benefits or therapeutic natures of the medicines they sell the patients.
The medical doctor studies the benefits and latest medical treatments based on the human body and it's reactions to medicines. They also study so much more chemistry then a pharmacists that it is an out right lie to claim a pharmacists has more knowledge then they do about medications and they uses.
You had some really good points and a lot of what you said was true so I am clueless as to why you felt the need to lie about your profession to post on here.

@ Whocares: I agree with literally 100% of what you said in both posts. I also think the poor grammar, lack of overall intelligence and rambling run-on sentences of mr westcoast "dr" give away his actual position.

This is Dan S. I have never implied that I am a medical doctor. I don't know what meds you take or who's post you are reading but It certainly isn't mine. I am a chronic pain suffer. By trade I am a diesel mechanic. Have a wonderful day !

Is there no end to the ignorance ? I don't claim to be a doctor & I wouldn't want to be. You see, I have too much compassion to have the ability to write prescriptions for pain. If I were a doctor just about everyone who asked for pain meds would probably get a prescription. One of the problems In my humble opinion is that too many people just cannot use self control. I never take more of anything than I am prescribed. I don't run out of my meds half way through the month & I don't take meds to get high. I like my job as a marine diesel mechanic. My problems are arthritis, herniated discs & a previous shoulder surgery. I am currently taking MS Contin er & ir. My pain Is not controlled as well as It was when taking Oxycodone but I'll live. My heart goes out to the people out there who are really suffering with major problems & I'm sorry that so many suffer while the greed of a few has taken over. The war on drugs will never be won. As long as there are people who want to get high there will be scum bags that are willing to risk their freedom to provide them with whatever they need to do so. Oxycodone is a wonderful drug when used properly. Unfortunately It has become out of control in Florida as well as other states. The DEA has finally found something they can actually do to prove they are worth something.

they can refuse to fill heavy narcotics to any one but they usually cut filling just pain fills to make sure the have enough for cancer patients to fill and there is a stupid symbol that changes month to month that the put at the beginning of the script its been a triangle this month of may

The is obviously a great deal of ignorance out there. My pain is not as well controlled as it was with Oxycodone but with Ms Contin er & Ir, I'm doing well enough to continue to be able to be a productive member of society. The reason Oxycodone has become so difficult to get is because the abuse has become out of control. These drugs like Opana, Oxcontin & Oxycodone just get cycled around after they become popular. Google Opana and you will find that it was popular in the 50's then taken off the market. Now it's making a come back. We all suffer while the pharmaceutical companies make billions.

@ Dan S I misread...I was referring to The person calling himself a doctor. I think it is Dr. Westcoast but your post was right next to his so I misread. I apologize for the confusion but, saying " I do not know what drugs you're on" was uncalled for and rude...and so whatever. As a mater of fact your posts are generally rude and full of bull crap anyway.

Dan S you sound like a classic "pill popper" and I bet that is what the pharmacist sees in you. I bet you slur when you talk or you have that doped look in your face when you approach the counter.....he is making a judgment call not to fill your meds ....get over it and find a new place to get your dope..I mean meds and stop being rude to people on here because as you can see we can be just as rude back at you!!!! See you said to me..." I do not know what meds you're on"....see how that knife cuts deep? Think before you spew rude hurtful nonsense.

Dr. Whocares, if you are a doctor then certainly you can read. I assume they teach that at some point in your profession. I do not lie, unlike many of the doctors & pharmacist I have had the displeasure of coming into contact with over the past thirteen years of being a chronic pain care patient. Once again you have showed your ignorance. It simply amazes me that someone like yourself who claims to be a doctor has the time to troll on sites like this. If you are a doctor, why don't you offer some useful information instead of looking for some drama to create. I'm sure we all have enough drama in our lives.

@ Dan S: rest assured, this person is not a doctor. If by some miracle they are, they have no business in medicine. Accusing someone you've never so much as seen a picture of of being a pill popper is ludicrous and no competent dr would do so based on things you've said.
