I Have Caught Cvs And Other Pharmacies Lying About Not Having Oxycodone In Stock, Shortage 2012 (Page 3)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

Well today I officially caught a cvs here in Ga lying to me. A friend of mine filled his Meds yesterday. I go in, having a history with cvs, a recent one, and am immediately lied to. The pharmacist comes over and tells me they haven't had them in stock for months, without looking at his book or computer. At this point I stated an employee I know the name of told me shipment came in Thursday. He lied again. I then told him friend had filled yesterday morning. He said it was impossible. I then said I saw the bottle with my own eyes, it had their address on it, and even told him what brand they had since my friend just filled his there. Pharmacist lied to me yet again. I then asked him why he wad lying to me and that I am tired of being treated like a criminal because I am 30 with a handicapped tag and a four page long mri report for my neck, mid, and lower back. I just found out I have central and foramina stenosis in my lower back, yea!! He then asked me if I had been having trouble filling. I said yes, it seems a lot of pharmacies are lying about not having it in stock. I said it is easy to tell on how they look at you, treat you, and if they check their logbook which is required for all schedule two Meds. I then gave him a chance to not lie and said "so you mean you filled the last of your stock yesterday." Since he lied to me again I decided it was time to call his district manger. The info I told him was correct but he decided to lie so its not my fault if he gets fired. U am going to let his district manager know the whole story, and let them know that if something is not done I will contact the news about discrimination against a legit pain patient for them not to get their Meds and have a normal life. They won't want bad press that is for sure, esp since I have a handicapped tag. I am in their system for filling the exact Meds I brought in, they have my discount card on file also, and my whole family uses their pharmacy so these ate the thongs I will tell district. Any other pharmacies who lie I will do the same thing to. So it seems the shortage going on here in Georgia and Florida are manipulated by the pharmacies and the distributors. Mckesson isn't shipping them out to rite aid, wal mart, sams, and Target. They are afraid of getting fined like a few years ago or getting in trouble like cardinal, cvs, walgreens, publix, and krogers distributor. Cardinal is still shipping from Mississippi and north Carolina, but not from Florida atm. The rest of the country is not having any problems, just Florida and Georgia. Since I have a lawsuit going against Allstate from my car accident(not my fault) and we are going after a doc who read someone else's mri to make his conclusion and type a bogus report to my insurance so they will not reimburse me anymore, we ate going after him for slander or defimation of character since he wrote I sell my Meds, maybe I can add cvs for pain and suffering and descrimination. This is absolutely rediculous these days. Sorry for the rant but people selling them ate making a killing these days and legit patients are going broke from price gouging or gas prices just so we can live a somewhat normal life. Makes no sense how out system works.

I have similar medical issues. I was told to stop the 1mg of Clonazepam I'd been taking daily for 20-years, for anxiety. My Pain Management Doctor claimed my meds (morphine er and ir) could be dangerous mixed with the Clonazepam. I talked to a friend of mine who is a physician. He told me that in order to have a risk of a breathing problem (which is what they worry about), I'd have to take a lot more clonazepam AND a lot more morphine! I OBVIOUSLY DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR DOSAGES ARE!!!

I decided to just stop reporting my Clonazepam to my Pain Management Doctor. I don't write it on the list of meds I'm on anymore. We never discussed anything else that was going on with my regular Doctor. Thus the subject is now never discussed.

For me...problem solved.

Dianne, Florida has a huge drug abuse problem. Is WalMart the regular pharmacy he uses ? Does he take other meds for pain ? Does he take Valium or a similar drug.

My husband was discharged from U of F Gainsville Florida hospital. I went to Walmart with two scripts, oxycodone & tramadol for pain. My husbsnd just had a Lobectomy of left lung. A very painful surgery. Walmart would not fill the scripts stating the reason being they need to speak with the ordering doctor first! Here it is Memorial Day 2017 & the pharmacist will not fill his script even though I gave her the discharge papers to prove he had the surgery 3 days ago. Still she say's she has to speak with doctor! WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT??? I never had this problem when we lived in N.J. My husband is 67yrs old, & just went through an extremely painful surgery. I am so sick of this crap!

I'll tell you how to get rid of your migraine instantly. You'll probably have to go to the hospital to do this but they mix morphine and Valium in one needle and administer it intravenously. I suffered from migraines for 20 years. I still get them occasionally and I've had that done once or twice. Most hospitals won't mix. It's the weirdest thing because I nodded out and when I woke up my headache was gone.

I know the feeling. I worked many years at a top company. I had a thalamic stroke when I was 41. Treated with all the usual medications for this diagnoses, but because not all doctors know what post stroke pain is, they are telling me to stop my anxiety medicine in one month or they can no longer treat me with methadone. First if you look up post stroke pain syndrome or thalamic pain syndrome it will tell you how excruciating it is. I believe you are right, when it comes down to it you will be increasing suicides by God fearing, never misuse, never taken illegal drugs suicides. The ones taking illicit drugs are still going to take illegal drugs.

WillRNMS, they may have not told the patient the truth or the patient may have misunderstood the info. When other parties are involved, it is common for info to be misunderstood.

Pharmacyguy27 What are you doing on a thread for pain sufferers? Sitting in judgment? I feel terribly bad for those with prescriptions who need them and can't get them. If a pharmacist suspects a Doctor of dispensing meds like candy, report them to the professional board. Don't take it out on patients.

I'm in SC, the Bible belt where things are so restrictive. Yet I've never had any pharmacy refuse to fill my Fentanyl patches and Morphine IR. I wonder why that is.

They don't make an intravenous oxydodone, nor IV oxycontin. Are you sure you know what she was given? She would not have been given an IV narcotic for simple withdrawals but hey, I'd believe anything the way people have had fits about this pain/addiction/medication funland.(not).

It is common for pharmacies to run out of Schedule II meds towards the end of the year or at the first of the year. Manufacturers are given a set amount of active Schedule II ingredients each year. When they run out, they have to wait until the next year to manufacrurer any more of the drug.

The DEA gave pharmaceutical companies 1/4 Less Schedule II active ingredients for 2017 than they have in past years. Chances are more pharmacies will run out of Schedule II drugs. before the end of 2017 than they have in past years.

All pharmacies in Clarkston, MI are always out of stock on Methadone and Percocet. I tried bringing my script from 90 miles north to Clarkston where I was moving to and no one would help me. Had to go back up to Midland to fill. Now with a new Doctor who can send to any pharmacy again. Clarkston has Methadone and Percocet plentiful now. (2-22-17) However Rite Aid in Clarkston now checks back 4 months and if another pharmacy filled early they make you wait the extra days current to average 28 days. So instead of a 28 day refill they are making me wait 30 because Krogers filled me early 4 and 3 months ago by 1 day.

This is 2017. Gee Melissa, I hope you haven't suffered any horrifying untreatable pain between 2012 and now. Hope you are alive and well. I pray, unlike your behavior with your fellow posters, that if severe damage and pain befell you, you were reached out to with compassion, support and useful advice.

You don't know who is or isn't an addict. In 2012 you didn't know what information it takes to recognize drug seeking behavior. I have been a Drug & Alcohol Counselor since 1993. You need more information than "Chris" gave you to judge him an addict or drug seeker- much less to give him advice what to do about it (i.e. go detox).

Every person has the right to protect him/herself physically or mentally. However, Chris wasn't aggressing toward you or anyone else in telling his story. I am baffled as to why you responded in such a way. It gives the appearance that you have "issues" with folks who use narcotics (even legally/appropriately). Your issues get in the way of being constructive. If you make suggestions in a more friendly/empathic way they will be received better.

DanEsq, there is nothing illegal about this. When Schedule II medications are involved it is dofferent than other medications due to the high risks of abuse and addiction.

This practice of overreacting to the government overreaction is a clear violation of the ADA. This law trumps the pharmacists "discretion" and controls it. Other laws and ethical standards also regulate this discretion as they do in law and medicine and other professions. The discretion is not absolute no matter what they tell you. You cannot treat one class of patients different than another, period. I have a feeling that when they get hit with ADA claims the pendulum will start swinging in the other direction.

To iron God should let you know what pain is. I have heart problems due to dealing with pain example heart rate blood pressure rises when in pain I understand about the pill abuse but us really suffering pay for the drug heads out there. Also not on any pain meds it's a long road from the beginning of back injury till your body adjust.

That is quite a narrow and close minded response. You think it's up to a pharmacist to make a medical decision overriding my doctors, based on no information?to decide who gets the medicine they are prescribed and who doesn't? All on his assumption of a person. The assertion that all people on pain medication are going to pill mills.

To: Petunia, post 382 - what do you mean when you say that ' things are about to get much worse for people on pain meds, from a federal level and then from a state level '?? How much worse can things get? What state do you live in?
