I Have Caught Cvs And Other Pharmacies Lying About Not Having Oxycodone In Stock, Shortage 2012 (Page 21) (Top voted first)

Updated

Well today I officially caught a cvs here in Ga lying to me. A friend of mine filled his Meds yesterday. I go in, having a history with cvs, a recent one, and am immediately lied to. The pharmacist comes over and tells me they haven't had them in stock for months, without looking at his book or computer. At this point I stated an employee I know the name of told me shipment came in Thursday. He lied again. I then told him friend had filled yesterday morning. He said it was impossible. I then said I saw the bottle with my own eyes, it had their address on it, and even told him what brand they had since my friend just filled his there. Pharmacist lied to me yet again. I then asked him why he wad lying to me and that I am tired of being treated like a criminal because I am 30 with a handicapped tag and a four page long mri report for my neck, mid, and lower back. I just found out I have central and foramina stenosis in my lower back, yea!! He then asked me if I had been having trouble filling. I said yes, it seems a lot of pharmacies are lying about not having it in stock. I said it is easy to tell on how they look at you, treat you, and if they check their logbook which is required for all schedule two Meds. I then gave him a chance to not lie and said "so you mean you filled the last of your stock yesterday." Since he lied to me again I decided it was time to call his district manger. The info I told him was correct but he decided to lie so its not my fault if he gets fired. U am going to let his district manager know the whole story, and let them know that if something is not done I will contact the news about discrimination against a legit pain patient for them not to get their Meds and have a normal life. They won't want bad press that is for sure, esp since I have a handicapped tag. I am in their system for filling the exact Meds I brought in, they have my discount card on file also, and my whole family uses their pharmacy so these ate the thongs I will tell district. Any other pharmacies who lie I will do the same thing to. So it seems the shortage going on here in Georgia and Florida are manipulated by the pharmacies and the distributors. Mckesson isn't shipping them out to rite aid, wal mart, sams, and Target. They are afraid of getting fined like a few years ago or getting in trouble like cardinal, cvs, walgreens, publix, and krogers distributor. Cardinal is still shipping from Mississippi and north Carolina, but not from Florida atm. The rest of the country is not having any problems, just Florida and Georgia. Since I have a lawsuit going against Allstate from my car accident(not my fault) and we are going after a doc who read someone else's mri to make his conclusion and type a bogus report to my insurance so they will not reimburse me anymore, we ate going after him for slander or defimation of character since he wrote I sell my Meds, maybe I can add cvs for pain and suffering and descrimination. This is absolutely rediculous these days. Sorry for the rant but people selling them ate making a killing these days and legit patients are going broke from price gouging or gas prices just so we can live a somewhat normal life. Makes no sense how out system works.

To Chris:

From a sincere and genuine place I really do have empathy for you. However, while I don't know you I sense similarities. No offense intended. Throughout my 20's I suffered from chronic Kidney Stones. Legitimately some of the worst pain you can experience. It was constant battle of, will this one pass, will I end up in the ER, will I miss class or work almost everyday ??this?? week. Getting potent pain meds was my really my first patient/pain relief experience or need for it. 10 years later I know I'm a drug addict. I never set out saying "I totally want to get addicted to opiates, open up the doorway to other drug use, destroy my family's respect for me, and relinquish a well earned and good paying career. I get it. Without sounding arrogant I have always placed a priority on manners and impression. I liked dressing well, presenting a polished appearance, education, and just knowledge and learning in general. I was never snotty about it. I never thought it made me better than anyone, but I did get more respect and helpful attitudes within many areas of my life. Once I started to let myself go, look like u didn't give a s*** about my appearance, and most importantly became a d*** who talked about my rights and my entitlements. Addiction is the human body's physical and sometimes emotional and mental need, craving, I feel like I'm dying without it feelings. Suffering from addiction and being an addict are two different things. I don't mean to chalk it up to "life isn't fair!" I reiterate I truly believe there is a genuine need for you needing pain relief, buts let's be honest a percentage of that is it feels good to be high. People who are all high and mighty, about calling the media, legal suits, pharajicts loosing their jobs is fiending. You will never win going that route. Change your approach to not even give the potential for your behavior to be seen as sketchy. It works a lot better and you're not BSing yourself anymore. You being WAAAAY too Defensive!!!

A Pharmacist is not under any legal obligation to fill any prescription. Federal Law gives the Pharmacist the right to use their professional judgement in filling prescriptions. Lying is only illegal if you're under oath and in certain police investigations.

Vel, your post would be much easier to read and understand if you would use some punctuation to separate statements. I couldn't understand some words, but you have a reason to not write well. I wish you the best and will pray that you get the relief and attention you deserve.

I am in Florida as well and I fractured my C2 it was not diagnosed I have training in Merrick since 2000 morning I have this disease find them I am osteoarthritis to generative joint foods etc. etc. etc. Spurs throughout bulging disc etc. etc. MRIs about 8 pages. Because if they get Devon to changes in my spine and nerve problems and cord problems I need more playing but no neurosurgeon in Florida won't touch they are my spine will collapse at least that's what they said. me I have to go back to the original neurosurgeon in there and he's gonna pay for that. 26 years of working hard with no help isn't cutting it. Florida laws only Hurt people getting medicine they gave me like me who fight for many many many years taking painkillers and the stress of pain I have now graduated into advanced degenerative disc and joint tootsies at the age of 54. But people wanting needs John's alien will me the pill mills move around change your name there still getting. I agree that Melissa is way out of touch don't believe everything you read them here on the news or newspapers.. NOW i'm waiting for biopsy results because I had reflux extremely bad and it was her Nexium when I came to Florida but could not get it here for several years. The stress of pain in being able to even drink water without bad reflux I knew may have cancer in my stomach and or other organs and or my Esaphagus

It may not be polite and it may not be right, but there aren't any laws against a pharmacist lying to a customer or being rude. A pharmacy is a business. If you went to another business and wanted to buy something and were treated the same way, would you go back a second time ? It is obvious that pharmacist like this doesn't want to deal with chronic pain patients, and trying to force them to won't improve the situation. But it may make it worse.

Oh yes you do have a case. The person who said NO knows nothing about the law..WHY? What are they going to say they were suspicious? An what reason what that be? More importantly were the allegations true? If not you got a case and you can sue for not getting your meds and going through pain and suffering

For the people who say, "nothing can happen to the pharmacist" that is not correct. If the pharmacist said, "Sorry, it is against our policy to fill your prescription..blah blah blah." there wouldn't be as many options for the patient. However this is where an attorney comes in (although you don't need to be one to file complaints against said Pharmacist) if they have violated any number of anti discriminatory laws. If they are simply not filling it because of some subjective belief or opinion then it is possible they can lose a law suit. Especially if the Pharmacist leaves it up to a technician (i.e. a technician goes to the pharmacist and the pharmacist never talks to the patient). You cannot outright lie to someone and say something is out of stock and to check back. Because if you do, at the VERY least you cost them the trip, time off of work due to your lie. Such injuries are fraud and can be brought to court all the time. It is my opinion that if anyone who has a valid and documentable history of a pharmacy doing this to either talk to a lawyer and or file complaints.
I don't mind when companies have a policy and the pharmacist talks to the patient...Just do not lie or your can and should be held accountable.
A supposed checklist that Walgreens used can be googled.
I completely understand the policies but DO NOT LIE.

CVS told me when I tried to fill my script, ok we have them in, it will be 15 min. I replied thank you. So I'm sitting waiting 25 min go by, 40 min go by, so I ask what up with my meds. The tech at CVS said WELL I decided not to give you the meds. I said you told me you have them and 15 min to wait now your not going to fill them an hour later. Now she said I can tell any one what I want you are not getting them. I freak out. cvs said I'll call the police. I said f*** you I'm calling my lawyer. I was also told by her you cannot ever shop here, you're banned. I need to sue them. Lawyers want a load of cash up front.

I am a young black man, 37 years of age, however, I look about 23, (even I'd) at times for tobacco products. I get a script for 60 oxy 30 mg's monthly. Even though I have my regular pharmacy, I decided to test the water's and see what I can find. I went to a pharmacy where a close friend of mines go. They just filled her script for 120 on the 22nd, I went there on the 24th. The front desk personnel asked the pharmacist are we doing narcotics? the pharmacist says "no, we don't have any". I said well I was recommended here by a friend who's a regular here and the fact that we both get our scripts 2 day's apart, she said I should come here. So then I say well how can there be no more in stock today, but every time my friend comes here there is enough to fill 120. The pharmacist says "well maybe she comes on the right days". I said ok and left. So here is my plan guys. I already spoke with my friend about the whole ordeal I experienced at the pharmacy she uses, and she agreed to hold her script for 2 days until I get mines and we both walk in the pharmacy together. And once inside, my friend will say something like do you guys have the a215 or M 30's oxycontins 30 mg, the other's hurt my stomach etc. So now they pharmacist & staff there knows, I know what my friend is getting, and then I present them with my script for 60 of the exact same meds as my friend and oh I cant wait to see they faces or hear there responses....

Coming from a pharmacy worker I will tell you this: This is a law so you can stop b****ing, a pharmacist can refuse to fill any prescription they feel isn't appropriate or could be potentially harmful. If you have a legit physician writing your RX's you shouldn't have any problem getting them filled but I'm guessing you go to one of those "pain clinics" that have visitors from all corners of the country and write for oxycodone 15mg and 30mg like candy.

Unbelievable. How the hell can someone (Chris) rant on and on, constantly contradicting himself, and proving, without actually admitting, they are a perfect example of the type of people who help ruin it for actual patients. Seriously, so many red flags pointing to abuse of meds, it's infuriating. I've seen people investigated, and punished for less in the federal courts for SSA for so much less. Both sad and infuriating to know there are honest, moral people out there suffering b/c of the actions of people like that. People wonder why the medication situation is so f***ed up; there's one reason why.

i live i ga too. and my husband uses cvs i hate them, but he gets 20mg oxycotin 60 mth & maked them last 50 days instead of 30 days 2 times cvs has treated him that way & then wanted all his credentials. they dont carry them @ our walmart so he gets the 1 script from cvs & his bldpressure meds @ walmart. he has co-pay w/ ins so it really doesnt matter what pharmacy. we pay cash for my dr`s & meds every mth they want 600.00 to put me on his ins. CRAZY, but i use walmart & after 2 yrs using them & same dr & just finishing another yr where i went thru chemo walmart has been great they personally know me what i can & cant take. only 1 time there was a problem from my other dr writing wrong script. i only get pain meds from 1 dr but i take everything to walmart. i think cvs is messy

@ Whocares: I agree with literally 100% of what you said in both posts. I also think the poor grammar, lack of overall intelligence and rambling run-on sentences of mr westcoast "dr" give away his actual position.

To let you know if you haven't heard, CVS got in trouble last month by the DEA. The DEA said that CVS was refilling narcotics too soon, IE: if you go in w a script 2-3 days before your last one was due to run out, they would normally fill it. Now they can't fill them until maybe a day before your previous script is due to run out. I was told this by CVS staff. They said CVS was sanctioned by the DEA & they are freakin out.
Also, I've had a pharmacist from CVS act like he was personally offended about the meds my MD ordered for me & he called my MD saying he won't fill them. Well my doc said "do you know what hbla-27 spondylartropathy is?" & other stuff like that.. pharmacist said "no" my doc said "OK then, fill the scripts I wrote" so he did.

I hate when pharmacist/staff act upset about my meds like it's personally an issue for them. I don't know if they're jealous or think it's too much medication. It's weird, I'm not going to OD, I know what/how to take my meds & been on them a while & they know that, so what's the issue? They are pissed off with their boring jobs I guess.

I can't be agitated by poor grammar and spelling, but rather, entertained. These pharmacies "ate the thongs"? Really? Please reread posts before publishing them. We who suffer chronic pain don't want to get a bad rap OR have a bad rep.

if you're going into these places and telling them that you have friends filling the same exact medication why wouldn't they look at you like you were a drug user or abuser it sounds to me like they're doing their job I'm not trying to judge but like you said in your post you know many people that are filling the same exact medication and your wondering why you cant get your filled..saying stuff like that raises red flags with pharmacists.
