Instead of making me sleepy it keeps me awake.

i just tried it and it also kept me up. i was told by a friend who used it for years that there is a short window where it make you terribly drowsy and at that point if you do not sleep but stay up to finnish a tv program or do something, then the window closes and you stay up... that is exactly what happened to me... plus i had a headache and runny nose all day the next day... i'm sticking to valium.

Trazodone is used to treat clinical depression with or without anxiety,
chronic insomnia, fibromyalgia, to control sleeping, control of nightmares or other disturbed sleep, a sleep aid (with a reduced risk of dependency)

Trazodone common side effects are are drowsiness, nausea/vomiting, headache and dry mouth.

I was not able to locate anything stating Trazodone keeps you up. I would tell your doctor that prescribed you this medication what you are experiencing.
