I Take 1 Mg Of Klonopin Per Day Why Does It Not Show Up In My Urine Test? (Page 2) (Top voted first)

I take 1.0 mg of klonopin a day and as prescribed and it is not showing up in my urine test. The Doctor that prescribes my medication thinks that I am not taking it. Has anyone ever heard of this and if so what could be the reason for it not showing up in my urine test? The Doctor accused me of not taking my medication he prescribed. Yet offers no reason why it does not show in my urine.

If your doctor is prescribing you clonazepam and does not understand why it is not showing up in your urine test, then he/she is incompetent and should go back to medical school. It astonishes me how many doctors prescribe meds that they don't even understand chemically or physiology what the drug actually does. That is just total incompetence on the part of the doctor. And then BLAMING THE PATIENT!!! Unbelievable!
It also reminds me of how doctors like to prescribe Seroquil as a sleeping pill when it's an incredibly potent anti psychotic! Tell these doctors of yours to go back and hit their college books. And please, everyone, don't think of your doctor as smarter than you because they have more years of schooling. Get a good phone app on medication which will break down the medication for you, and refer to it in the doctors office while he is talking to you about medications. Don't just blindly put your health in a doctor's hands.

I just had this happen yesterday. Now my doctor will not prescribe it for me...they said they trust the lab results, not the patient. How is it that they dont know about this happening. I HAVE NEVER FOUGHT WITH ANYBODY, SAYING MY "CLEAN" DRUG TEST SHOULD HAVE BEEN "DIRTY".

Well, I finally got an answer from my Dr. concerning klonipin problem...it seems that low levels of klonipin simply DO NOT SHOW ON ANY TYPE OF U/A TEST!!! Why?, I didn't get that far into it, but, the Dr. was totally satisfied with the answer he got, & cleared me of this ridicules situation! I take 1mg. a day of klonipin, along with other meds. I hope this may help anyone to get their Dr. to research the problem, so they will KNOW FOR SURE that we all are taking our meds. Good luck you guys...

I am a long term (20+ yr ) methadone patient. I take a 6 panel urine test every month and have never had a positive for klonopin. Every benzo positive I've ever given was due to my use of another benzo (eg. Xanax.) I have had more than a few people swear that I'm mistaken. I think the reason for this is that the metabolite of clonopin is different than the one that a standard benzo screen looks for. Drug tests don't look for the original drug but for the substance that your body turns it to. Anyway its not a shock that people think we're lying about having taken it since its a benzo it MUST show up, right? Its easier to assume you're lying than to do their homework.

I was not implying that you yourself abused any drug. I know how that came out but wanted you to know that was not what I meant. But yes, that was a mistake on my part to say Clonazepam was not habit-forming. It is. It is just less habit-forming, as I stated in the previous comment. And I didn't was you to think that I thought you were abusing it, just that it does have the potential to be abused. I'm sorry you went through that in jail. You could have died from that!! That pisses me off that the system treats people with medical problems like addicts and less than human. Thank you again for the insight and encouragement in your other posts. Take care.

No Xanax does Not stay in your body longer. Xanax is stronger, but not as long lasting as Klonapin , and certainly not Valium which has a very long half life.

I Take Xanax daily and test (urine) 2x's/week. I never go a day without my medicine and have had three ua's where my Xanax didn't show. It happens. I've had to up my dose just to satisfy the people that are testing me and make sure to take it in pieces throughout the day, always a small piece at bedtime so it'll be there when I pee in the morning.

O.P., Try Breaking your dose up throughput the day. Take some before bed If you test in the morning.

When people go to a clinic or get tested I guess they need as much assurance as they can get it's really not that big of a deal damn

Bad advice. This is a form of self-harm. Anyone reading, please don't try to get back at a doctor who is simply reading a test that he didn't conduct. Work WITH your doctor to prove (sorry but this is how trust is built) you're compliant, then be done with it and still maintain your necessary medication(s).

Many of us are having this same problem. And one person posted that his Dr knew the reason. But to get an actual professional proof is hard. There are many threads discussing this problem but this one person answered with his dr. knew and it is that the liver with clonazepam and other benzoides will pass it on within an hour and it is gone from your system in that time. And then its only about 2 percent which is a low amount. Hope this helps

Klonopin requires a special test. Although it is a benzodiazepine derivative it is an anti convulsant and metabolize differently. I am a nurse in a substance abuse facility. We do testing daily.

Granted this is an older post but I found it interesting how you pontificated on your experience as a 20 year plus methadone user. Rather then spend timed sharing a negative hypothesis on the ineptness of clinical standards pertaining to testing protocols perhaps setting a positive example of what methadone can be since you obviously have CHOOSEN to remain on it for nearly a quarter of a century says something about you NOT METHADONE OR THE REGULATORY STANDARDS EMPLOYED TO SAVE LIVES FROM INCIDENTS OF BENZO LIKE POLY ADDICTION AND THE UPWARD RISK OF PROFOUND HEALTH COMPLICATIONS ISSUES THERE OF.
Methadone saved my life and helps countless others live a functional positive life filled with the joys that so many addicts fail to achieve without benefit of an opiate assisted recovery.

I've been on clonazapam 1mg per day for two years. I also am testing negative. My so called doctor done a pop surprise drug test on me and I tested negative. I am also prescribed percocet for my periods. When I was drug tested I tested negative for both drugs.My doctor refused to refill my prescriptions stating that they were really buckling down on doctors who prescribe narcotics and since I (failed by being clean) thats why she was refusing to refill them. I simply said well I am not on my period so why would you find percocet in my system since it is not used for dailey use but for pain only. I told her I have rarely ever missed a dose and i can not explain why it is not showing up. Next I talked to the office manager and they were totally on the doctors side. I said please I have been a patient here for many years and I have never given any one any problems . I ask to see another doctor at the same practice and they said they will not see another patient who has failed their drug test and I said your not listening to me, I took my medicine at bed time last night like I always do but I cant explain but I am willing to come be tested again but I refuse to see this particular doctor because she has a really bad attitute, she is like fifty five and rolls her eyes at you like she is sixteen years old, I want to see someone who is an M.D. and has more knowledge than a P.A. The office manager said no I am sorry and I need to answer this other line. I said ok I will request a medical release form and I will leave this practice and find a real doctor that knows what they are doing. Today I went to Walmart and paid thirty five bucks and tested myself and sure enough it was negative but why wasn't my doctor intelligent enough to google this like I did and find out what a very common problem this is among many people? Wish me luck with my new doctor on monday. This old doctor just was a smart a_ _and just belittled me and made me wonder about my own sanity as she rolled those beady little eyes at me like I was a liar!!!!! Their loss and loss of business. It doesnt affect me accept when i go to bed because thats when i take it, but of course tell them that. it looks like it doesnt show up on tests most of the time. maybe i shouldnt even say anything unless it does show up.

I have heard from a profesional that klonopin is considered a peak aboo drug not like the other benzos, it only shows up in a drug swab if you take it the A./m. of the test.

Man, I'm sorry. I have REALLY bad nerves and I shake. They just took my Klonopins away today becausse they was none in my system. They did two tests. I take my 3 1mg Klonopins EVERYDAY! They really help. WHY WAS THERE NONE IN MY SYSTEM?

I have been on klonipin for over ten years.Today I went to my dr and they drug tested me and it didn't show up in my urine.I told her I took 2 yesterday as prescribed but she doesn't believe me. She yelled at me like I was lying.I was not lying...I just onder why it didn't show up.Now she says if it happens again she isnt going to give them to me.I said should I take 1 right before i come here but she really didn't listen to me. I don't know what to do and why it's not showing up.I also take elavil and a few other meds but nothing showed up. I am so upset because she said she will stop my meds and I have been on klonipin for so long I heard it's not good to just stop it.But the main thing is i take it like I am suppose to so why isn't it showing up on a drug test??
