Just reading this, a month later. However, I am curious to know what happened with your situation, did you find help?

I'm from and living in Florida, on Medicaid too. I have Sunshine Health as my Medicaid MMA.

Before I was getting disability from Social Security, I was a practicing Clinical Practitioner, of the Operating Room. I say this in hopes of credibility for what I have to say.

As a trained Medical Professional, and on personal level I tend to be a research nerd...especially when it's scientific or medical related. THAT BEING SAID, I have acquired, downloaded, read and UTILIZED a plethora of literature, legal and medicaid services in particular..as well as Florida State legislation.

MANAGED MEDICAL CARE and LONG-TERM CARE, starting this year, are now one entity. Where's the insurance benefits of the two were previously divided. What's the difference, basic terms of course meaning, NOW you have easier access to LTC through MMA services. Yes, you can have both MMA and LTC with benefits of the two.

Of course you have to qualify for LTC. Not too difficult. They have LTC for people with, disability, COPD, diabetes, Chr Kidney Disease, HIV/AIDS, etc. Basically anything chronic and debilitating, both physical and mental.

Real quick...to address the question originally posted. Yes, by law, anybody deemed disabled, by SSA has in their respective right, access to a mailing services for pharmaceutical benefits should one have a Rx by DEA registrant.

If you need help, ask me and I WILL get back to you.

Also, you need to set up an appointment with your MMA plans customer support, in order to obtain a CASE MANAGEMENT advocate. Every MMA plan member, especially disabled people, have right to one. Moreover their best interest IS to obtain one, regardless if you need their help once a month, week, daily or now and then.

They will coordinate your care. Help with prior authorization processes, Dr's appts, referrals, obtaining ANYTHING THEIR PLANS BENEFITS are needed for you

INCLUDING...MAIL ORDER PHARMACIES.

Btw, somebody mentioned mail order pharmacies DO NOT ship CII drugs, this is FALSE.

Hello, yes I've had problems filling just like everyone else. Then I found a WALGREENS that treated me AWESOME for 3yrs then my pain doc closed then reopened 3 months later I went back with my script and they would not fill. In those 3 months I took subutex from a doctor and filled at a PUBLIX so everything was all legit. Then I heard from a friend that he was mailing them 1,000 miles away to a mail order pharmacy and having great results. So I tried and for the past 4 months no problems I'm so grateful and lucky that all has worked out. And to answer your question there is no law that says you cant do this. I also live in South Florida.

Many pharmacists deliver. Call around a lot of smaller owned pharmacies. I think at CVS u will find 1 that delivers medication. You don't need mail order.

If you are almost bedridden, you should qualify for Long Term Personal Care Services which Medicaid provides. One of the things they do is help you with things like going the pharmacy, bathing, dressing, etc. If the state evaluator has proof that your conditions is severe enough, they may be able to have a Personal Care Attendant go and pick up your rxs for you.

Contact your Medicaid Health Plan or your state Medicaid office about mail order. Not all states allow them when all you have is Medicaid.

Wow, I'm really sorry for you. I hope you find a helpful way to get your meds. It was back in 1986 when I worked for a doctor and then they did have mail order prescriptions from their insurance companies. I would look into this. Good Luck to you. All my best, not that you know me, but I am a fellow pain sufferer.

I have Medicaid and because of the medications I am on in order to fill I have to pay cash. It's not cheap. I have heard that people have been filling through the mail. Ideal for me. I have much diffuculty getting around. Please if anyone has been through what I am going through help would be appreciated. I have not chosen carrier yet. Afraid I will pick the one that does not participated in med by mail.

Have you considered discussing the morphine pump with your doctor? It would make it much more convenient and you wouldn't need to deal with pharmacies anymore. The reserve would be filled at the clinic once per month. As you know, refills aren't allowed for class II controlled substances. And the pharmacy will not accept the prescription being phoned in. They won't even order them without the prescription in hand. The mail order won't deliver these Class II meds either. The strongest "opiate" they'll deliver is Tramadol. Is there anyone you could have pick up the prescriptions and bring to the pharmacy? I'm not sure, but many pharmacies deliver medications. Not sure if they would the Class II meds though but it's worth a few phone calls. I'm having the pump implanted next month. It also reduces the amount of medication needed to control pain. I'm sorry I couldn't help more :-( Good luck to you.

Many Medicaid plans do have mail order pharmacies to better assist those who can't easily get out to a pharmacy, thus the best thing you can do would be to contact them and ask for information on their preferred mail order prescription provider.

Learn more Roxicodone details here.

Learn more Morphine details here.

This won't help with your needing to see your doctor each month, you'll still need to do that to get new prescriptions, but they can often be faxed to the mail order prescription provider and then the original copies mailed to them, to avoid slowing down the order process.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?
