Hydroxyzine is used primarily as an antihistamine for the treatment of itches and irritations, an antiemetic for the reduction of nausea, as a weak analgesic by itself and as an opioid potentiator, and as an anxiolytic for the treatment of anxiety.

I was prescribed hydroxyz pam 50mg for anxiety.I have now found out that it is for DOGS and their allergies.this is not helping me with my anxiety even before I sawe it was for allergies

Hi Rob,

You know something is wrong when humans and dogs share the same medication (bad joke).

Have you looked into any natural remedies for anxiety? Personally I would recommend Essential Oils.
The following therapeutic grade essential oils are noted to help treat anxiety, calm the nervous system, and/or ease tension:

Lemongrass, Bergamont, Clary Sage, Lavender, Patchouli, Roman chamomile, Valerian, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Basil, Frankincense, Cypress, Melissa, Jasmine, Geranium, Rose, Cinnamon, and I believe there are a few others as well.

There are different methods you can use to apply these oils, which I would urge you to look into if you find any of these oils useful.

Valerian root bought as the whole root and ground and put into capsules works like a charm for anxiety. You'd have to read and figure out your own dose. IF you use the health food stores already ground capsules they are mostly useless and dried up so finding the whole root and grinding makes so much difference in how and if it works. Good luck!
