I have Hydrocodone + Acetaminophen 10/325 that was prescribed for my back pain which expired a year ago. Is it still effective and how long does it keep its potency? ## Hello, Mary! How are you? Medications do lose effectiveness over time, that's why they carry an expiration date, that's the longest the manufacturer can be sure it will maintain maximum efficacy under normal storage conditions. There's no definitive information that I can give you on how long it retains its full potency, once expired, because that depends on many factors, such as the storage conditions. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Mother's autopsy came back with blood levels of Temanzepan 31, dihydrocodeine/hydrocodol 42, hydrocodone 250, hydro morphone 69. All in nano. And she did take multiple other drugs. Can you tell me how many 7.5/325 pills she would have taken to have these levels? She was 83 with multiple heart and kidney issues - did not know if these issues would hinder the metabolism of the drug?

I just took tylenol with codeine4 for tooth pain. but pain still there what else can I take can i take ibuprofen 200mg ## Hello, Doodle! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the pain you're experiencing. Codeine is actually a very mild opiate, so it doesn't work for everyone that takes it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I didn't find any interactions or problems listed between it and Ibuprofen, so that should be fine, as long as your doctor or dentist approves. Is there anything else I can help with?

My wife has been taking hydrocodone for about 2 weeks, her pain has increased to the level of a 10 and the meds only stop pain about 30 minutes out of the 4 hour period. Her doctor is afraid and refuses to up hydrocodone (I think due to new laws) to give her a higher dose. I went so far as to take her to emergency ward yesterday where she was given dilaudid which seem to have broken the cycle temporarily and she felt OK for rest of day on normal dose of hydrocodone. Her doctor is setting her up with a pain specialist but due to heavy scheduling is like 2 to 3 months away. Question.... Since I can not afford the emergency room every day or two, how much hydrocodone can she safely take during that period until she can finally see a pain doctor? We are in the mean time trying to find out w...

I have some Hydrocodone 5mg/500mg they expired 2009 would they still be ok to take? ## This medication which is a generic for Vicodin doesn't get dangerous once it's past the expiration date, but it does lose effectiveness, so after 3 years, they aren't likely to do much in the way of pain relief. Learn more Vicodin details here. The best thing to do would be to dispose of them and see your doctor for a new prescription. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I used hydrocodone liquid form from 2009. How long is the expiration for that. Can't find the bottle now. ## Not true. The Military just did tests on the efficacy of drug like this, and they all lasted about 80 YEARS. No kidding. Look that up. If stored properly, the efficacy should be the exact same even after ...

How can you tell if a pill is time released or not. The pill identifier doesn't say. I have 2 strengths of hydrocodone acetaminophen. One is 10/500 and the other is 5/500. Lost directions and don't have the doctor anymore. I can't swallow pills and want to crush and put in applesauce to take. One pill is 3600V pink and oblong, the other is white with a line down the middle and a V in the back. Forgot the numbers on that one. Thanks! ## There is no time released formulation of the Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone combination, they are all regular release formulations. Learn more Vicodin details here. The tablet with the 3600 V marking is the 10mg/500mg tablet. I can provide you with any specifics on the other, since you didn't provide the markings from it. Can you check the ...

white oblong kpi 4 ## The name of the medication is actually Hydrocodone and this tablet contains 7.5mgs of it and 650mgs of Acetaminophen, it is a narcotic analgesic. Learn more Vicodin details here. This medication has the potential to be habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Another note that needs to be added here is that as of 2013, the FDA has made a request that all manufacturers lower the amount of Acetaminophen in these combination prescription products to no more than 325mgs per dose. There are major concerns about the dangers of liver damage and failure that can be associated with long-term use of high amounts, as well as the toxicity of overdose. My husband put an oblong white pill in my drink. On the pill was the word Watson 387. I did not ingest it all but I did have a strange reaction, got very tired and lifeless after 2 sips of it. What was the strength of it? ## Sounds like you have a very interesting relationship there. Pill Image This is Acetaminophen 750mgs and Hydrocodone 7.5mgs, and yes, if you aren't used to taking it, even though you didn't ingest it all, it will cause a tired and lifeless sensation, most narcotics do that. ## yourhusbandgave you aloritab which is a pain medication. The reactions you had were normal. ## that was more than likely a lortab 10 mg. if u arent used to taking them they make you that way, they are used to treat pain, and are a type of narcotic that are mostly abused as a street drug...

Well my dr has me takin 10/325 hydrocodone but is switchin me to percoset jus wanted opinion on what was stronger ## The Oxycodone in the Percocet is stronger than the Hydrocodone in the Vicodin, and otherwise they both also contain Acetaminophen to enhance its effectiveness. 10mgs of Hydrocodone is equivalent to 6.67mgs of Oxycodone, so you will probably get better pain relief from the Percocet. Since it is also a narcotic, the side effects will be similar to what you are used to, nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have been hurting for three months. My primary docotor gave me hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10-650 which has reduced the pain but not takin it away. Will switching to Percocet from lot tabs cause any withdrawal symptoms? ## Hello, Cat! How are you? In theory, it shouldn't, because the Oxycodone in Percocet is stronger than the Hydrocodone. However, the doses will matter, can you please post back with them? For example, for each 7.5mgs of Hydrocodone you were taking, you'd need 5mgs of Oxycodone to be equivalent. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is it is better to take hydrocone 10 325 without food? ## Hello, Daniel! How are you? The usual dosing is every 4 to 6 hours, as needed for pain, but you should follow the instructions that were provided with your prescription. It can be taken with or without food, but taking it on an empty stomach may cause you to experience more nausea and dizziness than usual. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause other side effects, such as drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I was prescribed hydrocodone 10/325 for severe back pain and they did nothing for the pain, not even when I took two at a time. The doctor then prescribed dilaudid 4 mg, this too did not touch the pain at all. I took the dilaudid back to the doctor and had them dispose of them. They then prescribed oxycodone 5mg. These do nothing as well, I took two at once and just got a stomach ache. I stopped taking all pain medications as they just were not working. Yesterday, I found an old bottle of vicodin 10/325 that I had from a previous surgery and even though they were expired - I took one and it worked! Within an hour I had more pain relief than I have had since I began seeing my current pain doctor. I wonder if it is possible that someone at the pharmacy is substituting my prescriptions wit...

My son is 11 months old and had surgery and was prescribed hydro/APAP for his pain. It is 7.5/325 in 15ml. The pharmacy calls it Tylenol 4. I'm just wondering if this is really safe to use on an 11 month old. ## Tylenol 4 is 60 mg Codeine and 325 mg Acetaminophen. It sounds like the prescription is for hydrocodone 7.5 mg/Acetaminophen 325 mg. There is Hydrocodone 7.5 mg/Acetaminophen in Each 5 ml. ## I don't know what type of surgery but that's too much for an 11 month old,I would try plain tylenol,if it doesn't help,I would half the dosage on the hydrocodone. ## My son had posterior medial releases on both feet(tendon release for clubfoot ) and also tissue removed from the bottom of his feet because of his extremely high arches which contributed to his clubfoot. I am on 5-325. 7.5-325 is more expensive. can I cut a pill in half to get the 7.5 ## Hello, Charlie! How are you? No, that's not a good idea, because you will also get more Acetaminophen that way. You should only do that, if your doctor approves. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
