Hi, I'm a 27 year old male with 2 thoracic disc protrusions, 1 lumbar protrusion, also have facet disease through entire spine. Also cord impingement in both of the thoracic disc areas. My question is that I'm currently on three 10/325 hydrocodone a day, but I'm finding im needing more than the 3 a day to manage my pain. Is it possible or safe to take 4-5 of these a day? I've been on hydrocodone for 3 years now and at most I only get about an hour of relief from my current dose. ## Hello, Justin! How are you? I have a damaged SI joint in my back from a car accident 12 years ago and also have fibromyalgia. I've recently noticed something and I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out. I've taken hydrocodone mainly for pain, usually 7.5 mg, but sometimes 10 mg. They make the pain tolerable but never seem to last long. I recently tried Watson 749, which I'd never heard of before, but they are percocet 5 mg. Both these and the hydrocodones I've taken had 325 mg acetaminophen in them. These 749 are awesome! They work faster, better and last longer! I understand that percocet is a stronger med than hydrocodone but a ten mg hydrocodone should be stronger than the 749, so why does this 749 work so much better? I take paroxetine 20mg each morning. Had foot surgery 2 days ago and was prescribed hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5-325 Tb. Is it ok to take these two medications together? ## Hello, Monanas63! Is it possible that I just ordered hydrocodone/acetaminophen illegally? I suffer with lower back problems and have been under chiropractic care, have gotten Xrays, and MRI and back injections. I just finished with my prescription for Lortab (a little early I'm afraid). I saw something at CVS about buying prescriptions online. I did a search and came to an online pharmacy website. The website I went to certainly looked legit. I am a fairly intelligent person, but is it possible that I just did the stupidest thing? Somebody called my doctor and said I was taking heroin. I have been on hydrocodone for the last 3 years. I take my urine test every visit and I took my meds like I was supposed to, but the day before my doctor visit I took ten 7.5/325s and my drug screen came up showing that I had no hydrocodone and came up as hydromorphone and morphine. I would like to know why? ## wrongly accused, if you took ten hydrocodone 7.5/acetaminophen 325 in one day, it appears that you have a drug problem. Sometimes the drug you have been taking isn't detected but one of it's metabolites are. Hydromorphone, is one of hydrocodones metabolites. Do you only take drugs that you are prescribed from your pharmacy? If not, it is possible that you have ingested other drugs without knowing what they really were.

I was prescribed hydrocodone for a pinched nerve in my neck. I will have to take it awhile because my health insurance is insisting I undergo less invasive treatment before having the surgery my doctor recommends. Anyway, the first prescription I filled was for 5/325, an all white pill with an M marking. I was able to take those without problem. The second prescription I filled was white with red specks (same strength). About a half an hour after I took one of these pills, I started feeling ill. My heart was pounding and I had chest pains. Then I developed a mild case of hives. I notified my doctor and he switched me to oxycodone which was just too strong. I reported this and he rewrote for hydrocodone. I recently relocated to San Francisco from Chicago and am seeking a doctor who will prescribe the same medications as my previous doctor. I need a doctor who will prescribe Hydrocodone, Xanax and Adderall which I have been taking for a few years. ## You will need a copy of your medical records from your previous drs before another dr will treat you for these conditions. I take MS Contin and oxycodone. Took a hydrochlorothiazide with my fioricet with codiene for a migraine. Tested positive in UA for hydrocodone. Never touch hydros or anything else not prescribed by my pain mgt doc. He didn't believe me. Got booted. Is it possible that the combination of meds gave a false positive for hydrocodone? I just don't want to be called a liar. Have been on my meds for 15 years and never was questioned or denied my refills because UA's were good. I would like to be able to tell him why the test showed hydros when I never had any.

I think my 50 lb bassett puppy swallowed one of my pain pills (hydrocodone). Will this harm her? ## Have you contacted your veterinarian? I am afraid that my medication knowledge doesn't extend to its use or safety in animals. There are many drugs that cross over, but due to an animal's metabolism, the dosages must be carefully adjusted. Since she is just a small puppy and this contains a narcotic, I'd suggest checking with a veterinarian. How is she? ## Most people I know take 10 to 12 / 8 mg. Dillaudids a day intravenously!! They won't kill you!! Plus you can do at least 6 to 8 / 30 mg. Oxys just for good measure!!!

I AM TAKING HYDROCO/APAP 5-325MG TAB 1 PILL EVERY 6 HRS FOR PAIN I AM IN TEARS. ISN'T THERE A STRONGER PILL FROM DR. ## Yes, there are many stronger pills. You should call your doctor and tell them that your medication is not helping the pain. I hope you get some relief soon. ## Hi Gary, Post #1 is right about there being a lot of other options for pain relief; many of which are stronger than a 5mg dose of hydrocodone + 325mg of acetaminophen. If it were me, I would talk with my doctor about upping the dose of hydrocodone to 7.5mg or 10mg, since that is considered to be the "next step up" in terms of potency. From there it seems like oxycodone, opana, dilaudid, fentanyl, extended release meds, etc, are reserved for more serious or long term cases of chronic pain management.....
