Itchy throat, Marked and distinct scratchy throat and discomfort, also felt in ears, more during swallowing. Took first doze last night Aug 14 for chest pain and cough. Woke up with pain in ears and throat in about 4hrs. Morning the side effect had weathered to notice. Took another doze. Got 1-2 hrs. sleep, the side effect returned with exact same symptoms. The original prescription filled Hydrocodone 5 500 TAB MLKCM. imprint M357 They refilled with Hydrocodone/APAP*** (WATSON 349) and now I sometimes have blood in stool. Does the APAP have aspirin which causes internal bleeding with me, and caffeine, whcih the M357 does not seem to have that effect. What should I do? ## Neither of the tablets you mentioned contain Aspirin or Caffeine, they both contain Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen. (The Acetaminophen is what the APAP stands for.) The first number that you listed is the amount of the narcotic, the Hydrocodone and the second is the Acetaminophen. So, one of the contains 5mgs of Hydrocodone and 500mgs of Acetaminophen and the other 10mgs of the Hydrocodone and 325mgs of the Acetaminophen. Thus, in reference to the narcotic, for better pain relief, the one with 10mgs would be stronger, however, if you need more of the Acetaminophen, then the 5/500 would be stronger. Did I get the right pills from the pharmacist? ## Your best bet is to just ask the pharmacist. ## What you have might be the 7.5 mg Hydrocodone dose. If you are reluctant to take it then what I would suggest is going back to the pharmacy with it and telling them that the imprint code is different from your previous prescription.
