UpdatedHumira gave my mom lung cancer. She was not a smoker and it was the only drug she was on. She died. Don't take this drug.

My friend died from stage 4 lung cancer from Humira as well. Never smoked, never hung out in bars around second hand smoke etc. She never even had a cough. Symptoms began when she started getting out of breath doing activities shed always done. Taking a shower, made her feel exhausted. That's was actually a crucial symptom, as many w chronic lung disease cant take shower due to humidity and steam. Anyway, she went to the dr and was diagnosed w stage 4 lung cancer. a month later, she was dead. Most lung cancers develop over time, esp due to exposure to smoke or toxins but with Humira, it went straight to stage 4 with no earlier symptoms to even catch. I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom. I'm still in shock over the loss of my friend. By using, Humira, it was like she was literally inj'ing herself with Cancer. Why would anyone create a drug that destroys your bodies Tumor Killing Cells? Our body's were designed w an immune system to keep us alive? Why create something that destroys it. I'm very angry w Abbott drug company for creating this poison.
Sorry to hear about what happened with your mom. My condolences for your loss. Thank you though for providing a warning to others about humira. Based on my own research I wouldn't doubt that humira could be a dangerous drug. Especially considering that it's classified as being Immunosuppressive. This means that humira can reduce the activation or efficacy of the immune system, which may open the door for things like cancer and other potentially serious illnesses.
Having said that, I feel like humira is a threat to one's ability to recover.
Hopefully other readers here will discuss these concerns with their doctor before giving humira a second thought.
I wish you well and pray that you find closure from what took place.
I too was dx with stage iv lung cancer jan 2015 after years of double dose humira. We may have known there was a small risk but not sure if I understood it was for lung cancer. So sorry for your loss. Nobody should have to worry about dying from their medicine. I dont think they make the risks known well enough. They act like it is rare and I see more and more becoming dx with cancer... strength and comfort to you
I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. It's tragic how we've lost our loved ones from Humira
I am so sorry you've experienced this too. My mom just wanted a better quality of life but she knew the risk. They do tell the patients there is a small risk for cancers. I wish she had looked into other types of treatment.
I dislike that the commercial advertising this drug is on television a lot. And its being prescribed for so many types of ailments. Too many people are at risk of getting cancer from this. So sad.
I took Humira for a number of years and before that I was on Enbrel. Everything was great. I believed doctor who said side effects were rare. Yesterday I discovered that one of my moles looks strange. It lookes like they describe skin cancer. I do not abuse sun. I rare stayed too long in the sun. I don't know diagnosis yet. It it does not look good. My husband and my friend both just had skin cancer but both are sun lovers. Mine probably is caused by Humira. I won't take it any longer!
My brother who had plaque psoriasis also died from t- cell lymphoma from this drug. As a health care professional it is to immunosuppressive to be worth the cancer side effects.
I was diagnosed with hr defective sweat gland disorder and was prescribed humira. Was a smoker for long period of time after about one year of taking humira developed a soar under my tongue was diagnosed as squaumiss cell carcinoma quit smoking had surgery to remove cancer. Also stopped taking humira the recovery from surgery seemed to go well but now my body is riddled with muscle and joint pain that doesn't seem to improve not sure what to do at this point other than pain meds. Surgery was about five months ago. Thought I would be in a better spot by now. Just working everyday and dealing with extreme body pain. Look at studies done nothing but numbers not about age, blood type, race, nothing but numbers don't believe there has been enough of the right research on this product. I guess to them if it has a bad reaction on less than 5% of patients it's worth the risk for the billions there making.
Re: Kitty (# 6)
I would get the facts from your Dr before expecting the worse. A positive attitude is one of the best medicines available.
