How To Get Off Suboxone (Page 24)

Im Marina Im 24 years old and a mother of 2 beautiul little boys. From the years 2006-2007 i was heavily addicted to Oxy 80 and eventually started doing herion. I got help in sep.2007 at a methadone clinic, it worked for as long as i was on the methadone i had NO relapse's. In June 2009 i was completly off of the methadone that first day that i was on 0Mgs I went through extreme withdrawls i went through things that i would never wish upon my worst enemy! i stayed that way for a day and a half and decided to go to a suboxone doctor. He put me on 32 mgs a day which i thought was pretty high of a dose but he explained to me that methadone withdrawls was worst then any other withdrawls. so i trusted him. Now when i go to see him every month i pretty much beg for him to start the weining process and start lowering me and he pretty much refuses. After months of being on 32mgs a day he finally started tapering me down slowly, i never really thought any thing of it till now but i realized he's keeping me on the suboxne for as long as posible so that he can get my $200.00 a month. all he is, is a legal drug dealer bc now im highly addicted to the suboxone. I recently had to go a few days with out my suboxone bc i didnt have the money to see him and i went through hell. i thought methadone withdrawl was bad OMG there is no comparison. i wanted to either use which i havent done in years or rip my face off lol its funny now but it definatley wasnt funny a few days ago while i was feeling that way! So i spoke to a good friend whos going through the same thing and he told me that they just came out with a new pill to get you off suboxone. I just want to know if that's true. I tryed googleing it but i cant find any thing. If you have heard of this new pill please respond or if you even have a good way to get off soboxone as painless and posible... thanx

Hi Feliciano,
I,m a man so I don,t know about geing pregnant but I know a little bit about subs. I,m not a doctor either. Suboxone is very strong as you know. If your addicted to it wouldn,t you think your baby would be born addicted as well?
Would you really want to put your baby thru withdrawall? Why not get off the subs before you think about having another child?
If you explain this to your bf I,m sure he,d understand and if he doesn,t then he seems like a pretty selfish person.

I read your post and wanted to know more about your suboxone use and your pregnancy? is it unhealthy..was your baby healthy? can you nurse? was your new baby kept in the NIC unit I have been on for under a year and am down to 2mg every day or every other, depending on how I am feeling, if I have alcohol etc...I am 36 and want a baby, adding to my family is important and detrimental. Since my divorce I have given serious thought to having a child. My boyfriend of a year has no children and wants to try soon. He is not happy that I have since told him im on suboxone. Ive tried desperately to get off but as you kinow you cant lay in such a horrible feeling of death way and not take care of responsibilities...I have a ten and a three year old and its impossible...if you have any answers or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. thk you

I am currently taking suboxone because of my addiction to opiates. While I do not live in Florida I am much closer to you than NY-New Orleans, Louisiana. I am also on Medicaid and there are plenty of suboxone Dr.s here. There are detoxs here who take Medicaid (River Oaks hospital can give you help and Addiction Recovery Resources New Orleans is one IOP that can really help) and once you get into their program you can see the dr.s free and Medicaid will also cover your prescription completely. It takes about two days for Medicaid to approve it and you can pay for a couple of single strips out of your Rx to cover the time it takes for the approval. If you can't take the time to go do the classes that will get you in with a doctor free you can still go to one of the many sub dr.s here and Medicaid will pay for your Rx. Also, it will pay off to shop around if this latter choice is the one you make. The appointments can be anywhere from 300$ to just 150$ with private sub dr.s. and I've heard of cheaper ones too. I hope this helps, Good luck!

Unfortunately u can't do it without feeling some time of WD symptoms!! U can taper yourself to minimize some symptoms but your not gonna get through it without feeling something.....I get five 2mg films a month and take a tiny piece (about .2mg) about 5am every morning and I'm good for the whole day and I'm having trouble jumping from there....try and minimize your mgs as much as you can every week or 2 weeks or whatever fits you best!....I started off 5 years ago on 8mg and I was on that for a long time but when I jumped fond all the way to 2mg I didn't feel anything at all honestly no WD symptoms but I guess I just got lucky....I want off this s*** so bad but I can't f***in jump from .25 mg it sucks!!

There is no possible way to get off this stuff without withdrawing....i dont care if u taper down to .000001 mg u will still have some discomfort NO MATTER WHAT! u just gotta deal with it the best you can! its gonna be hard but dont listen to all these "horror stories" all the time because EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT no matter what others went through...dont fill your head with stuff until you try it out

So for 6 yrs I did both oxy's and subs. If I couldn't find one I would get the other. I always wanted to stop but just wasn't ready. Always trick myself saying just one more. Now I have realized that its time to move on. I'm 24 and have the chance to have a good career and don't want to miss out. I learned that everyone withdrawals different and that the sickness will go away but the mental part takes a lot longer. I was able to bring my dose of sub down to half of a quarter piece of a 8mg sub which is a 1/16th piece. While doing this I found that it helped to read info on different ways to help and also how other people where able to come off. Also suffered with restless legs so I took gabepintin which help alot. But in the end I believe it's all will power and you have to want it. Also I know this is hard but you can't be near anyone that abused it with you cause it makes it so easy to just do one. I feel everyone's pain. But just tell yourself you can do it. Exercise a little bit. Fluids, liquids. Read up on it cause it helps.but no matter what your just not going to magically not withdrawal if you want off you have to go thru it but it can be conquered . Good luck with everyone and I hope you can overcome this disease.

I'm not trying to keep track here, but I have been off of Suboxone for a little over a day. Been on this stuff for almost 10 years. i couldn't afford to go to the Dr. anymore and got sick of dealing with the pre approval nonsense. Made my last 30 days worth last for 4 months by cutting down which wasn't easy at first, but it did get better over time. Everyone around me, including my mom and dad, said I've been much happier while i was taking the lower doses (1 mg twice a day). So anyways, I'm not doing too badly. I have no urge to feel high what so ever or anything of the sorts. I do feel a bit sick, but nothing than a lousy cold that just doesn't want to let up. What I am having a massive problem with is my restless legs syndrome. It's very very bad. The Suboxone used to suppress this. I'm completely out of Sub and refuse to go get more. I tired an over the counter medication and melatonin for it, which then only made this worse. I can't get something from a doctor because it would take over a month to get in. I truly mean it when i say that this is my only hurdle. I'm dealing with the sickness just fine. My physical job is actually helping me deal with this, but I'm only there for 8 hours a night. I'm really only having problems at home when I try to sit still. I know that exercise can help, but I can't exercise for 16 hours everyday and then work for 8 hours. I just need to ease the restless legs bs. Any intelligent advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading and good luck to anyone else going through this. I kicked H cold turkey and made it just fine. I truly regret giving into this. I'm not going to say that Suboxone didn't help in ways, because it helped me with a lot. Like I said, this is my final hurdle.

Thank you!! It's nice to know there are other people out there dealing with the same things or have done it and made it. Thanks again! Have a great holiday season!

Hi Kayla, I replied to your question last night but it obviously got lost. Anyways, if you taper slow you won,t feel much of anything. Suboxones a weird drug because of the long half life. If you were to taper 2 mgs every week you should be fine. It,s when you get down to 2 or 1mg you might feel a little something but nothing you can,t handle. Trick is to stay with taper plan. Get a calender and write your dose down each day. The longer you wait bettween tapers the less likely you,ll feel anything. When you get down to say 4mgs then drop 1mg at a time. You gotta wait the same amount of time bettween each taper. Thats the key. You can even go to .5mg wait, then jump. Remember, I,m no dr. This plan has worked for me before. It just takes time. Slow and steady wins the fight with this stuff.

If you do it slowly you won,t feel any differance at all bettween tapers until you get down to around 1 or 2 mgs. Even then if done slowly you,ll hardly notice much of anything. When on a high dose like yourself you could drop to 12mgs for a week or so and not notice much difference. I don't know why that is. It just is. As you can tell, I,m not a dr. Try dropping a couple mgs. for a week and see what I mean. Trick is to remain with it for a week. Don,t jump back and forth, that,ll do you no good. Writing it down on a calender helps also. I forget the dose I was on at the time but my sub dr. had me do this: If you wanted to drop down 2mgs say from 16 to 14 you would take 16mg the first day then 12mgs the second day then 16mgs the third day and keep doing this routine back and forth for a couple weeks. Doing this will make your system adjust to 14mgs. With the long half life you can do this and not feel like crap. Just remember,, slow and steady.
