How To Get Off Suboxone (Page 17)

Im Marina Im 24 years old and a mother of 2 beautiul little boys. From the years 2006-2007 i was heavily addicted to Oxy 80 and eventually started doing herion. I got help in sep.2007 at a methadone clinic, it worked for as long as i was on the methadone i had NO relapse's. In June 2009 i was completly off of the methadone that first day that i was on 0Mgs I went through extreme withdrawls i went through things that i would never wish upon my worst enemy! i stayed that way for a day and a half and decided to go to a suboxone doctor. He put me on 32 mgs a day which i thought was pretty high of a dose but he explained to me that methadone withdrawls was worst then any other withdrawls. so i trusted him. Now when i go to see him every month i pretty much beg for him to start the weining process and start lowering me and he pretty much refuses. After months of being on 32mgs a day he finally started tapering me down slowly, i never really thought any thing of it till now but i realized he's keeping me on the suboxne for as long as posible so that he can get my $200.00 a month. all he is, is a legal drug dealer bc now im highly addicted to the suboxone. I recently had to go a few days with out my suboxone bc i didnt have the money to see him and i went through hell. i thought methadone withdrawl was bad OMG there is no comparison. i wanted to either use which i havent done in years or rip my face off lol its funny now but it definatley wasnt funny a few days ago while i was feeling that way! So i spoke to a good friend whos going through the same thing and he told me that they just came out with a new pill to get you off suboxone. I just want to know if that's true. I tryed googleing it but i cant find any thing. If you have heard of this new pill please respond or if you even have a good way to get off soboxone as painless and posible... thanx

How did u do it without withdrawals I'm on two mg a day and at night I already have withdrawals like aching and feeling like hell help pleae

Unfortunately u can't do it without feeling some time of WD symptoms!! U can taper yourself to minimize some symptoms but your not gonna get through it without feeling something.....I get five 2mg films a month and take a tiny piece (about .2mg) about 5am every morning and I'm good for the whole day and I'm having trouble jumping from there....try and minimize your mgs as much as you can every week or 2 weeks or whatever fits you best!....I started off 5 years ago on 8mg and I was on that for a long time but when I jumped fond all the way to 2mg I didn't feel anything at all honestly no WD symptoms but I guess I just got lucky....I want off this s*** so bad but I can't f***in jump from .25 mg it sucks!!

I am currently taking suboxone because of my addiction to opiates. While I do not live in Florida I am much closer to you than NY-New Orleans, Louisiana. I am also on Medicaid and there are plenty of suboxone Dr.s here. There are detoxs here who take Medicaid (River Oaks hospital can give you help and Addiction Recovery Resources New Orleans is one IOP that can really help) and once you get into their program you can see the dr.s free and Medicaid will also cover your prescription completely. It takes about two days for Medicaid to approve it and you can pay for a couple of single strips out of your Rx to cover the time it takes for the approval. If you can't take the time to go do the classes that will get you in with a doctor free you can still go to one of the many sub dr.s here and Medicaid will pay for your Rx. Also, it will pay off to shop around if this latter choice is the one you make. The appointments can be anywhere from 300$ to just 150$ with private sub dr.s. and I've heard of cheaper ones too. I read your post and wanted to know more about your suboxone use and your pregnancy? is it unhealthy..was your baby healthy? can you nurse? was your new baby kept in the NIC unit I have been on for under a year and am down to 2mg every day or every other, depending on how I am feeling, if I have alcohol etc...I am 36 and want a baby, adding to my family is important and detrimental. Since my divorce I have given serious thought to having a child. My boyfriend of a year has no children and wants to try soon. He is not happy that I have since told him im on suboxone. Ive tried desperately to get off but as you kinow you cant lay in such a horrible feeling of death way and not take care of responsibilities...I have a ten and a three year old and its impossible...if you have any answers or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. thk you

Hi Feliciano,
I,m a man so I don,t know about geing pregnant but I know a little bit about subs. I,m not a doctor either. Suboxone is very strong as you know. If your addicted to it wouldn,t you think your baby would be born addicted as well?
Would you really want to put your baby thru withdrawall? Why not get off the subs before you think about having another child?
If you explain this to your bf I,m sure he,d understand and if he doesn,t then he seems like a pretty selfish person.

If u arent addicted then dont comment. NEVER comment on anything u know nothing about. Thats how ppl die. B/c of ppl like u!!! U know NOTHING about addiction, withdrawals, etc. ur comment pissed me off. I wish addiction on u.

I,ve been addicted and gone through wds for the last 40 years. It,s why my wife and I chose never to have children. Not that we didn,t want them. If you think its right to bring a newborn into that sort of situation ON PURPOSE your just nuts. And to wish addiction on anyone is just immature.

One more thing. This woman IS NOT PREGNANT YET. She says her bf wants her to have another baby. If she was ALLREADY pregnant her doctor would most likely change her to Subutex because it doesn,t have the Naloxone in it.

I am not having any children until I am off suboxone.i am tapering even more every couple days. I was wondering how if i can i quit, how many dsts approx will it take? Or is there any thing to help me function through this process?

Hi feliciano,
All you can do is taper slowly down to as small a piece as you can. Don,t rush your taper. Let your system get used to 1.5mg for a week then 1mg for week then .5mg for week then .25mg for week then jump off. I got this taper schedule from a suboxone doctor a couple years ago. It works. I just didn,t stay clean. I,m doing this taper again myself. Theres gonna be a couple rough days when you stop completely but its not that bad. As that sub doctor told me before " slow and steady wins the fight with getting off subs comfortably" Good luck and let us know how your doing.

Today is day 4 of going ct from my suboxone i was on 16 mgs per day for over 1.5 years and due to things i couldn't control i had to ween down very quickly down to 8mgs for a week then2-4 for a few days until i finally ran out i have been very fortunate as of yet my wd have not been so bad that i have gone crazy i have been sick and had some sleepiness i pray i can get passed this soon if i dont feel any worse i can make it the wds are no where near going ct of noraco i was doing 25-30 1000mgs per day was in some very bad shape just ready for it all to be in the past

Hi slsmakingit,

Good for you! Day 3-4 was when the wds from the subs used to start for me in the past. Too bad you didn,t have a chance to taper longer and slower. I,m sure your gonna be fine. I hate the long half life of subs. It will get better. I,ve come off them before myself. It suks but nothing like wds from other drugs.
Please post your progress if you can.
It helps a lot of other people whos going thru same thing or thinking about it.
You can do it!!!

yo , you should just figure out your own regiment, start with just taking ine 8mlg strip once a day, if u cant handle how u feel, then take half of another 8, gradually take more till u feel well. pay attention to what i write.. dont try n get f***ed up, just take enough to get well, even if u feel slightly bad, itll only be for a day or two, just ride it out, youll be fine after that, someone taking 32mlgs a day for months sounds outrageous, unless of course u ereally do need that,, ive never known anyone to take that much,. only for maybe the first day or two,.

Today is starting day 5 and it was been hell but im still here i know everyone is different but about how long will the worst be today was pretty bad but im going to do this i have no choice but its ok i hope it dont get much worse i have had a pretty rough day and the night isn't looking much better
