It would be best to follow your doctor's instructions for whether or not to continue it.
Most people do experience bowel movements, shortly after taking it, but it does not work for everyone. Have you made sure to take it on an empty stomach, at least a half hour, before eating or drinking anything else?
The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, bloating, and diarrhea.
