How Many Clonidine Pills Would Be Considered An Overdose?

I was just informed that my family member just took 7 Clonidines. Is this an overdose? Please answer as soon as possible.

I sincerely hope that this person's family member suffered no ill effects.

When it comes to posts like this, it really can't be stressed enough that if you think the life or health of someone is in danger, please contact your nearest emergency treatment facility or take them in to one!

While there are always people on sites, such as this one, that will help if they can, there is nothing I can do to help you save a life, if that's what it comes down to. I cannot administer CPR or any type of life-saving measure over the Internet. I wish we could, but it just isn't possible.

And with this post, the dosage wasn't included, so there's no way anyone could really give proper guidance. If someone is used to the medication and takes higher doses, then they may not necessarily suffer any permanent ill effects from taking 7 of them. They could just be sick for awhile.

However, there is always a chance that they could suffer a dangerous overdose that could cause organ damage, organ failure and/or be fatal.

Hi, I am prescribed 8x 0.2mg of chlonodine a day to control sweating. However for about the past 3 years I've been taking up to 20 a day to try and control sweating! Today I took about 23 and have been feeling dizzy etc and sleepy! I thought overdosing on chlonodine was harmless as I've never been told about any dangers from doctors etc? But I have just read a couple of forums on it.. And now am a bit worried. But I can't stand the excessive sweating which is why I take so much of it?! It rarely stops it altogether just reduces it to a more comfortable level.

reeree You ok ? yes 4 is more than recommended but probably wont kill you, just make you feel bad. You have to learn what your system can tolerate. You know the general rule is you can take less not more.Do so with caution.

What kind of doctor do you have? Why aren't you on oxybutynin 5mg 2 times per day? They are for sweating. You should be seeing an addiction specialist to stop abusing drugs.

No blurred vision and dizziness major dehydration actually she's probably be dehydrated. For at least 24hrs she needs to drink Gatorade, not water (way too much water can cancel out all electrolytes and that can be fatal). I'm no doctor though.

I taken 4 and was fine, so go off that. I don't have much info about Clonidine, I'm just prescribed it.

I am an insomniac as well so personaly speaking clonidine is too mild for my system. I take seroquel for sleep. Let me tell you somthing, that stuff gives me a full nights rest more then i could hope for with clonidine.

I am prescribed clonidine and I only take 1 .1mg a day before I go to bed and it doesn't work. Should I ask my doctor to up the dosage?

My 41/2 yr old is on clonidine .1 at bedtime. I usually give his meds but was out at the store tonight and his mom gave his meds. I came in and gave them again. Should I be concerned or just watch him closely tonight???

My son died Thursday, and I lost my daughter in 2011. I have absolutely no one, I mean no one left. My parents, my baby sister are all gone now. I lost my son to an overdose. I just went thru an abusive marriage & have a dozen scars to prove it. I left him 2 yrs. ago & came to see my half sister. Hadn't seen her since funeral. Since the 1st month I've been here, she has been abusing me. I only receive SS. So I'm stuck. With our severe fighting she wants me out in a week. I have no car, no friends, or family in this whole world. I have a cousin in WVA, but I'm in Florida. Well, yesterday morning I took a very high dose of Clonidine. I survived, but, barely. I'm in soooo much pain. I had severe hallucinations. Everything was blocked for me. Then a black cloth or dome was coming over my head and eyes, and I knew I was either going to die or be in a coma! Then all of a sudden a flash cut it in half & I woke up. Last night I had convulsions, shaking, plus I have been taking pain meds and ran out, so withdrawals upon that. More hallucinations, so intense it's too much to explain. I woke up like a paraplegic. Twisted beyond belief. I am 54, and a strong woman but only 5'6 & 130lbs. I managed to twist my body the way it should go, & stretched back to normal. I'm in so much pain. Now I'm scared of what I've done to my inner organs? My lungs hurt. I will be going to the E. R. shortly. Thanks for reading and as a lesson to all, don't take more than you should, unless you want to go through that....

Holy cow honey! I'm so sorry for your loss!! I lost my 20 year old daughter to opiates five yrs ago. Her Dad, my ex, took his own life fifteen months before that. Addiction related. My family barely talks to me since I lost my daughter. The stigma attached to addiction is awful. I'm alone too. I hope you get help and find a place to call your own. I've also thought of taking my life. It's always in the back of my mind. God bless you!

I am so extremely sorry to hear of all you've been put through. I cannot imagine living through my two children dying, and I've been through a severely abusive marriage, as well. I really don't know what to say, except I want you to know I believe your life will be better without that person you felt you must live with. You are worth so much, though no one in your life (probably?) let you know this. I would have done the same as you, using whatever I had. Please, if you've any strength left, use every bit of it to seek out help you need to stop taking--or at least reduce the dosage of--the pain meds--and to be around people who care--they could be people at a hospital or anywhere--they don't have to be family, and they don't even have to be friends yet. I am on this forum only this once, as I, myself, was wondering about the lethal dose of clonidine--I am not killing myself, but when certain things happen, I do think of dying, because I think I am only a burden on others. But, would you let me know what has happened since your post? Somehow, somehow, may peace be with you.

I am 13 and weigh 90 pounds and accidently took 3 pill extra only meaning to take 1 extra. Was ge okay because im really scared.

Boy, did you evet hit the nail on the head!

No sleeping medicine has ever worked for me, except Seroquel. But, the tradeoff is that it made me gain almost 40 pounds of weight.

No sleep medicines ever helped me sleep.
That is, until a public clinic doctor prescribed it to me for off-label use as a sleep aid. The 400 mg. dose is considered by most to be a high dosage. But, a few years ago, I was prescribed 900 mg. When I found a job with insurance benefits, I returned to my private psychiatrist, and I asked him why he never prescribed Seroquel for me for my severe insomnia for decades. I asked him if he didn't know about it, or, if he didn't think that it would solve my torture of insomnia. He replied that he knew that it would work for me. I told him that I couldn't understand still. He pointed at my belly, and said, "I didn't prescribe it because I knew it would make you blow up like a toad (weight-wise). And, he was right. I gained close to 40 pounds after I started taking the Seroquel.

Imagine when u think u got it all figured out in life. I'm 48 & very pretty. Not conceded. But yet I feel all alone. As well, my husband of many years turned to crack. I lost my place of living. My son has to leave his friends, his jobs, and I was reading how sad it is u have no one in life to help u. Just use and hurt u. It truly is an evil world.

My son is autisc and he takes half a clonidine during the day whole 0.01 at night to help him sleep, today was a rough day for me and I accidentally gave him a lot 0.01 dose of clonidine and he has been in and out of sleep. Is that considered a overdose or do he just needs to sleep it off??

I know from experience, over 13 + years on Opiates, Methadone, Methamphetamine, Etc...at my lowest. My lifesaver (hubby now) came into my life and saved it. The end of May will be 2 years.
