How Long Will Oxycodone Be Present In A Placenta (Page 5) (Top voted first)

I am 36 weeks pregnant and about a week ago i tested positive for opium when my doctor drug tested me. I took what i thought was a over the counter pain med cuz my back went out but apparently my "friend" had given me a 30 mlg oxy. now child protective services are involved and i was told once my child is born they will test the placenta for drugs and was wondering how long do oxys stay present for that kind of testing? please help i dont want to lose my kids.

I would not think that they would worry too much about Percocets or hydrocodone. yes it's bad but not as bad as some of the other drugs like Roxy, opana, methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin!! I have heard of a lot of babies having to be weaned off! Also I wish I knew the answer to if they test the placenta or not because I see a lot of afraid women on here posting that probably are wonderful mothers but at this point I would give it all to God who has the final say so.

Kiki, could you tell them what they test for so they wont keep having to wonder what they are testing for? I think they want to know that if they quit does it matter what the placenta says?

I will be 4 weeks clean for sure from lortabs by my due date and they expect me to deliver a week later than originally thought so I have a little more time hopefully. My mom gave me lts for the pain because I was working and Tylenol did nothing for me. I never took pills before 6 months of pregnancy. I have stopped no problem despite the epic pain and haven't felt withdrawal. This is my first child. My doc says baby is healthy and perfect on all tests and hasn't said anything to the contrary. I'm worried if I don't tell him about my 2 months of LT usage they will test and find out and I'm screwed. I just found out on google they can take my child if I test positive. I got them from my mom and I'm scared. I didn't know this could happen. I'm not addicted I just took 10mg ~a day at most for 2 months when needed. I really need to know what to do. I pee in a cup twice a week and they haven't said anything. Would they? I don't want to tell him and screw myself over either.. I don't see myself as a user and abuser I just needed something that helped me make it through work. Should I call a hospital and ask for advice incognito or would they even be able to do that? Please help

Are u kidding me? That doesn't make her a bad mom. Don't just quit taking them, it's not good for the baby and can cause the fetus to go through withdrawals. Talk to ur dr.

Honey you talked to your doctor and were honest. Thats a sign of a great mother. I completely get where you're coming from. Just listen to your doctor and keep loving that baby.

I'm curious to know the health and well being of the babies after birth after weaning off. Any defects withdrawal symptoms? I'm 6 weeks and was on a dose of 20/10mg 2 a day every few days. I broke my pelvis few years back doing c section.

im 32 week I have taken a perk like 3 times out of my whole pregnancy will it show up in my baby poop or the placenta

They always test. Just because they dont tell you doesnt mean they arent doing it. They also test the placenta and can tell how much of what you have done.

I'm about 35 weeks pregnant. Been using Percocet on and off. The first 4 weeks in, I didn't know I was pregnant. I stopped. At about 12 weeks maybe, I took some percs and that was just one day. I stopped for weeks after that. Then i relapsed again at about 5 months along. The usage wasn't necessarily heavy but continued for maybe a week. Stopped again. Relapsed again and it was heavier but maybe lasted a week or week and a half, stopped for about a few days, then it went on for another week. Stopped for another couple weeks then went kinda heavy for 3 days and am stopped for good now. Dr knows about it and everything. My question is what is the outcome for the baby? What will CPS do? I heard he won't get taken away as long as I have been clean from hear on out and am doing treatment. Only catch is they are aware of only this recent incident and the incident about 4 months ago. I'm flipping the hell out right now....idk what to do. The thing is also, he hasn't stopped kicking at all. He might've gotten sleepy and slowed down. I'm currently seeking the help I need. Just wanna know what's next......

Are you stupid? When you're pregnant your uteris and cervix is closed off so his sperm doesn't even go anywhere near your baby. The only way oxycodone will be in your baby's system is if you are the one taking it. Duh

Actually going through withdrawal while in utero is Almost guaranteed to cause a miscarriage. If you've been using long term while pregnant trying to quit while pregnant is seriously dangerous to the fetus. Get on Suboxone and you'll be okay. A friend of mine lost her baby because she decided to quit cold turkey. It she had known the danger she probably would have been fine.
