Please respond. I have never taken it and it was just prescribed for me. I have taken other benzos but they don't help my extreme anxiety. Hoping this will.

I took five mg earlier today as I couldn't stop crying and panicking about returning to work. It has been a good six hours since then... Can I have taken another 1/2 (2.5mg) more at about 10:00pm tonight to keep it under control till I see a doctor tomorrow and get back on my sertraline?

I have been an addict for over 15 years. I started out with painkillers because of on going surgeries! Then on to uppers of many kinds! I was one of those people who took whatever I could get my hands on. I also was an alcoholic during the whole 15 years as well! I've been in and out of rehabs as well. Long story short I never wanted to let people know about my addictions but of course more than I can count I embarrassed myself in front of my friends and family, obviously not knowing I was until the next day. I've lost friends, family members, jobs etc... I got introduced to anxiety meds and absolutely fell in love. Xanax would be my favorite but, as long as it is a benzo it doesn't matter. They make me feel like I can breathe a breath of fresh air, the room doesn't close in on me, I don't have racing thoughts or the sweats, I just feel normal - if there is a normal!!! I had to also get on Suboxone for my painkiller addictions. I don't take my whole 16 mgs a day, that's for sure, but I have to at least take two mgs to not be sick. So if my story means anything to anyone, it does to me at least. I've NEVER wrote anything EVER about any of this. Just know to other addicts out there no matter what you think in ur own mind u will ALWAYS be an addict. Even if ur stone cold sober! I'm so sorry to say it does in fact always stay in the back of your mind and u all know that. Ty for letting me vent and share.

The usual directions from doctors is to take your prescribed valium pill 30 minutes before any medical procedure that you are having anxiety about. I know that it works; I'm one such person with phobias about needles!

It take an hour to fully kick in usally it take 45 mintes to kick in but i take valiums and it take within mintues but take an hour to do its thang. It would make you fall asleep at some timez. But dont its just a neddle.

Hey, Momz0r - No one wants to be on benzos cause they have anxiety, but some forms of anxiety need to be treated with meds, and for some people, benzo's are the only answer. So they accept, and try to deal with all the negative side effects that come with these meds, in hopes of living a normal life. And for people who have no other choice, sometimes it's not easy, especially when there's ignorant a**holes such as yourself here to voice their judgement and opinions on things they obviously don't fully understand. So thanks for your pity.

Some of us really have few options when it comes to these meds. I am an RN I also have a brain tumor that is causing full body tremors/shaking as well as seizures. The decision to try this med combo was not easy and I don't believe it's right for anyone to advise me or pronounce judgement on my treatment plan.

Yes I take 4 at same time 20 min before flight
10mg...I sleep the whole plane ride. 3 hours

Valium works well for me 10 mg at a time every 3 to4 hrs for alcohol withdrawal good luck and best wishes to all

Good job, and I agree JayJay. Thats why I want to know about the new Harvoni treatment I am going to be starting this coming Tuesday with the mix of generic xanax, i mg tab 3 x daily, I have taken for 16 years? I don't want to use the Gabapentin the doc just prescribed. Tried it and awful headache, and can't have that-I have to be at work. Also I feel he is wanting to change to many things at one time. He is not my regular PCP, he is there for the Hep-C. I understand the Digoxin I have taken for years I will not be able to take so will take what he prescribed in place of that. But again, I tapered from 2 mg tabs 4 x daily myself, and thats good for now. Very sensitive system.

Itch would be to go onto klonopin(rivatrol) for u I reckon 0.5mg 3 times a day and find the roche brand as their the best ive tried that auden mackenzie one and u like me seem to know the difference in ur generics when it comes to tabs. Going back if ur going to stick with diazepam make sure u get actavis or teva their the 2 brands that work ,i myself refused some from certain pharmacies because their generic version were a joke, dr will tell u their all da same but they dont take them I forget the name of this garbage brand sure it begins with c stay well away from it and maybe try that swap if ur dr will do it, good luc, oh its crescent stay well away from it or google it lol. Your premise is completely WRONG. First this isn't an addiction forum. If you took the time to actually read and learn about the terms and purpose of this site. I too am an addict that considers myself recovering although I use methadone I detest when others see me as not recovering because I have a deadly disease that requires the induction of an opioid replacement drug to normalize my condition. The last thing addicts should do is disrespect social users whom aspire to ease their minds about things they are not completely knowledgable in. It's hypocritical for users to disrespect others when we always b**** about "earth people" never getting where we are coming from FACT. There's enough hate and disrespect in this world when addicts take to that same behavior WE LOSE, not them.
Everybody should know what they're taking and what the effects and dosage is right whether they are addicts, social users or simply frightened patients misguided by myth. So why can't we learn and share together in a hate and disrespect free zone.

Absolutely although classic benzodiazepine class drugs work in a predictable way Xanax more then any other causes effects that some consider paradoxical causing its users to experience an increase in activity or agitation as opposed to the effects seen with Valium or Librium .

I take klonapin, been on it for years. I ran out n couldn't get to my doc. So I took a xanax.....don't know if it was just me but it seemed to make me even more anxious! I've taken every other type of benzo n never experienced this...whats with that??? Was it just that Maybe I had a bad reaction?

I totally agree with buddah, there are too many people on these sites who literally dont have a f*****g clue what they are taking or talking about. Being on drugs for addiction is totally different than being on drugs for illness or disease; you will find that even we are on the exact same drugs but our dosages from high to low are very different. Like if you're a pain sufferer ive noticed ur dosages are far higher than an addicts. I read blogs of people taking 200mg of methadone daily for pain, im on 40 for addiction and also the people who are taking drugs like valium and dosing on 5mg why even come onto a drug addiction forum and waste real addicts time with pathetic questions like im scared to take 5mg to go on a plane. For gods sake why did u ask for it? 5 mg will not harm a fly and it's obvious ur not an addict and after ur flight u will not take it again. So stop writing silly blogs like will I die. Try taking valium for 15 yrs every day then come on these sites.

How long does it take for the 5mg tablet to work I'm already on 2.5 in the morning and evening but I have just had to take another 2.5 as I am having a panic attack and feeling really strange and light headed

Hi crocket, my gp wants me off them too. I think all doctors are the same. I think they have had orders to get people off them without knowing what it ever does to that person who really needs them. Wish I could find a dr who will give them to you because he understands. If you find one let me know. I have them for sleep and anxiety attacks but I need them. What do I do?

Quit telling people your theory that Valium and other benzos are dangerous and harmful. You sound like somebody that has no idea what the f*** you're talking about. If you have severe problems then these things will help you tremendously. If you take them the right way and learn what's making you anxious quit telling people not to take anything. People are always wanting to feel high, people always want to enjoy things, experiment with things and try things. Get off your high horse and quit being a f*****g ****t.
