How Long Can Clonidine Remain In My Body? (Top voted first)
UpdatedI was prescribed .01mg of Clonidine for anxiety and impulse control. At no time did my doctor check my blood pressure or warn me that this medication is often used to significantly lower blood pressure. This is a problem for me since my blood pressure has always been dangerously low. I was told by a different doctor to stop it immediately since I have been passing out and always dizzy to the point where I can rarely see straight. So I stopped it on January 22, 2016 and I'm still having trouble. My question is simply, how long should it take for the Clonidine to get completely out of my body? I'm 23, 5 foot 6 and weigh 135lbs. I have been taking it for a little over 6 months. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, Niki! How are you?
After 6 months, it could take about 2 to 3 weeks for things to improve, but you may experience a rebound blood pressure increase, as reported by the FDA, which could actually help you, as long as it doesn't go dangerously high. Thus, I'd say to keep an eye on it.
And, in the meantime, if you're not on fluid restrictions by doctor's orders, you may find that a higher fluid intake could also help, since it helps balance blood pressure.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Thanks Verwon for the information and the kind manner in which you responded. I appreciate your time and help. Thanks again!

2 nights ago I took a 0.1 mg clonidine to try to sleep. I do not take them regularly. I wanted to know how long it will remain in my system. I have since that following morning been drinking detoxification teas and drinking alot of fluid. On Thursday I have to take a U/A. Does anyone know if I should be OK as my doctor does a 12 panel test. It's the iCup test. Thank you
