How Long After Taking Suboxone/subutex Can You Take Methadone? (Page 2) (Top voted first)

I tried taking a suboxone 2 days after my last dose of methadone but am now in withdrawal. Can I take methadone now to bring me out?

Yes, 24hrs is long enough as long as you took the suboxone first and then the methadone

DOMINIQUE: You can take the Methadone now. Don't worry about Precips. It's the OTHER way around that you have to worry about. You are good to go.

SUB8YEARS: Precipitated withdrawals have NOTHING to do with "taking it to feel high, or taking it because it's fun". They happen when someone takes Bupe too soon after full agonist opioids. A person's INTENT has nothing to do with it. Please stop dispensing bad information.

Hi. I am trying to start a fast opiate withdrawal plan. I have 20ml of methadone, a 2ml subutex and three 8mg subutex. Am I safe to take the methadone in the morning when I wake up, then take the 2ml subutex when I start feeling withdrawal? I am trying to come off opiates without any help and with as little substitute drugs as possible as I am starting work tomorrow and my drug use is a secret. I haven't taken methadone before, but I have taken subutex before, just not for long before I have ended up back on opiates. Please, does anyone have any advice or experience? I really would appreciate it. I hate life right now like this, crying just writing this. Thank you.

I took my first half of an 8mg strip of Suboxone this morning around 8... How long after can I take methadone? I am self detoxing and of course I didn’t have enough Suboxone but can get methadone... I'm trying to get off the Percocets that have me wrapped around the finger.

I wonder why I can take Methadone, subutex, Suboxone in the same day and just feel relief? I’m either blessed or cursed with a fast metabolism?! Weird, right? I can take any combo of either Suboxone or subutex and Methadone, doesn’t matter which is first the same day and be fine.
My old doc were pills not H so I cannot believe I’m soooo opiate tolerante!
Not saying anyone should try it because everyone reacts differently but I’m a freak of nature apparently.
Came across this thread because it’s finally time to go back to the sub doctor and stop this foolishness.

KEL: I'm sorry, I need some clarification. Are you talking about taking 2mgs of Suboxone or 2mgs of methadone? I will assume you are talking about methadone, since you have not said anything about Suboxone in your post. Taking 2mgs of methadone at this point will not make you sick, but I don't think it is going to do much for you as far as being able to go to work without great difficulty. Going down that much, that quickly....you know that is all going to hit you hard VERY soon, correct? And if you are talking about Suboxone....I wouldn't! Your absolutely right when I went to my Dr to get off methedone I was still on 80 mg he gave me suboxone not subutex and said why aren't you giving me subutex for the first couple of days. And He said it doesn't matter they both will throw you into withdrawal if you don't wait 3 days

I too suffered precipitated withdrawal syndrome many years ago so I realize the hell this condition causes.I would rather die then EVER RISK THAT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. For the life of me I cannot understand how you could allow that to happen to you for the second time. Did you actually think the staff at that emergency room would be responsive to your ignorance yet a second time. Repeating the same mistake is an indication that your issues may be something more then just a pain control issue. It's that behavior that casts a black eye on pain patients needing legit care at an emergency room and why we are all treated like drug seeking addicts when all we aspire to is manageable pain control.

JUST: You can take the Methadone right away if you are taking it AFTER Subs, but you won't get much effect from it until the Subs leave your system. It is when you take Subs too soon AFTER the Methadone that can cause problems. Are you taking Subs and Methadone because you are a pain patient, an addict avoiding withdrawals, or simply because you want to feel high?

I have been taking suboxone for just a little while now, and i took my last piece yesterday afternoon, It is now 12:15 the next night... I was wondering if it was safe to take methadone now or at all? I'm going through withdrawals and i heard this helps...please let me know if it will help and be safe to take?

OMG! I am currently working out of town and I attend a methadone clinic at home daily. I take 120 mg. I figured I would not be able to dose for 3 day due to travel. I waited 4 days and took about 1 mg of Suboxone strip IV and it through me into p/w. I have been searching for someone or anything that can income what to do. Some people said take more subs and I did.This didn't improve my situation .I am now waiting to take a flight back home. I have never experienced anything like this. I am not in precepts anymore 24hrs after last dose(total of 4-5mgs IV) but I definitely am not ok. Should I take more subs?

Methadone to Suboxone - wait at least 72 hours so you won't get precipitated withdrawals. It's worth the uncomfortable wait. A guy next to me demanded to take it after 48 hours and was so so so so SICK and there is nothing they can do for you then. But if you're going from Suboxone to Methadone you won't get withdrawals after 24 hours, as your receptors in the brain get saturated. But I don't understand why you would want to change from Suboxone to Methadone. Methadone is the worst drug, ruins your teeth, skin, hair, gets into your bones. I've done it all; now I am on Suboxone and I'm productive and can work. I see a light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck and take care.

Got that right!!!!! I waited a week and 2 days and still went through withdrawals. You dont want to mix these drug either way. The only time to take one or the other is to make sure the opposite is out of your system the order makes no difference you will withdrawal if both are in your system at the same time. That simple.

Samatha, no please don't take Subutex until all Methadone is out of your system!! Long story short you will go into precipitated withdrawals which you DO NOT WANT; 100 xs worse than withdrawal itself. If you can go to a detox center they can change you over safely with minimal withdrawal. Methadone is a very long acting drug and so is Subutex. You need all of the Methadone out before you try. I went 3 days and felt not fantastic but things certainly got better, plus you can get off it easier and quicker if you wish. Good luck, hope all goes well.
