Dear Sandy,
It is very difficult for many to get off of. I have had literal hell on Earth trying. I have a regrettable long history with this crap called medicine and I'm on a much higher dosage now unfortunately... because your so right, it is worthless poison, but at 200mg you should be able to lower by maybe 20mg per day for a week, then 30 and so on without too much misery. But please don't just stop cold turkey as it can cause seizures.
I know this all sounds very dramatic, but I can not begin to tell you how this drug has ruined my life.
It may be fine and helpful for some, and that's great, but for others it is truly poison.
Take care and stay strong in getting off. It will be the best decision you can make.
How long have you been taking it?
If it has been for just a short time, then weaning may not be necessary, but you should double check with your doctor to be sure.

Additionally, if it hasn't been that long, you may not have given it enough time to see if it will help your neuropathy, since it does take 4 to 6 weeks to reach its full effectiveness.
I have been on Lyria nearly 3 month, No notible difference in my neuropathy. Very expensive, even with my co-pay. Just want to be done with it. Was taking 100MG 2x a day. Now taking one till I run out. Their ads are so deceiving. Big promises, 0 results.
you are so right about Lyrica being worthless. it did nothing for my.pain and now I'm going through unbelievable horrible withdrawal trying to come off of it. this is pure Hell
I'm scared, shaking, dizzy, feel like I'm going to.pass out and crying and tomorrow I've got to do it all over again. can anyone suggest anything I can do or take to.get me through the withdrawal? I'm desperate!
I would strongly advise you to contact your doctor about getting off this med. I did the same thing after being on it for less then two months, just stopped taking it along with Ultrum that I was taking after knee replacement. I had the sweats, hot and cold, crying, headaches and my knee pain feels the same as when I was taking it. Oh I also have been sneezing like crazy and my sense of smell is really off. Everything stinks but I noticed that after doing my laundry that that smelled the same way so it's me not my clothes. I pulled my back yesterday and started taking Ibuprofen for that pain and that seems to have brought back a touch of my smell back but only a touch. I should also mention I could only sleep for an hour at a time and then would be up going to the bathroom, I think I lost five pounds. I am hoping and praying that now after being off it for 5 days today that it will hurry up and get gone. I'm sure going off cold turkey is not the way to go. Please contact your doctor about this. Good Luck with this.
Getting off Lyrica is very difficult as I have been on this horrendous drug for 7 years, prior to and after spinal fusion. Have not been able to tolerate side effects of withdrawal and maintain somewhat normal life. Depression, anxiety, crying, nausea, severe headaches, diarrhea and stomach cramping, insomnia, and abdominal cramping make life unbearable. Please any help on how to stop this drug would be appreciated!
I have taken lyrica 150 mg 2x a day since May (3 months). Now that I've had an epidural, cortisone inj. and my sciatica is almost gone, how do I taper off lyrica?
Re: Bobbi (# 3)
It is poison. I hated my doctor for insisting I get on this useless crap. I was on 300mg a day, but with my doctors help I'm now on 25 mg a day now, as he prescribed both 100, 50 and 25 mg tabs for me. It's taken me 6 months of stepping down and I have a few more 25's left then I'm done.
how to wean off Lyrica 25 mg day for 2 weeks... I am not a pill person...
You can go to Lyrica's website and print out a discount form to give at the Pharmacy, with the discount form you only pay $25. Well worth it, saves me $20 a month.
