Over a year ago you wrote about a hip replacement you had that went wrong and asked for information from readers about such. Well... I was employed by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC in the 70's. I was an Instrument Maker and had dealing with replacement hip manufactures. One needs only to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS that come in the box to know that you are NOT TO MODIFY these replacement joints IN ANY MANOR, WAY, SHAPE OR FORM!!! It is spelled out in plain simple english!! (I will mention why doctors do it at the end.) These hip manufactures have spent millions of dollars perfecting Tungsten/Vanadium alloys that are bullet proof and have stock piled a fortune in the innovatory of sizes and shapes so that people like you can have an EXACT REPLACEMENT HIP implanted, that will serve them for the rest of there lives. Why do doctors mess with theses hips??? Simple.... hospitals DO NOT KEEP an innovatory of them, to many shapes and sizes. Also, over 90% of hip replacement surgeons where asleep or absent when these companies where teaching the class on how to fit replacement hips. Most doctors DO NOT CARE about 5 or ten years later when the scare tissues have taken over the joint to where infection has set in. In the instructions that come with these hips it explains how high a micron leave these joints have been polished, it tells the doctor NOT TO UNPACK OR EXPOSE THESE JOINTS BEFORE SURGERY!!! To autoclave (sterilize) them in the sealed boxes they are shipped in so as not to dirty, dent, scratch or ding the replacement hip IN ANY WAY!! Just a small scratch is enough 5 or more years later to cause a scaring and infection. BUT...... MOST DOCTORS DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR HIP 5 YEARS LATER THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT HERE AND NOW!!!!!
I can not tell you how many replacement hip joints I modified for doctors with patients on the operating table. That's right..... people opened up waiting for their new hip joint on the operating table!! The doctor sees that the bone spike is to fat, to long... whatever.. he raps the exposed joint in a towel after marking it up with a marker just where he wants it GROUND DOWN and sends it off to the MACHINE SHOP where I would get it and have at it!!! I did this for many years util I read those instructions and refused to do it anymore!!! Before I refused to do it anymore I spent about 6 months asking questions of these doctors because my mother has these implants and the most shocking answer I got was: "WELL, MOST OF THESE HIP PATIENTS ARE OLDER (60-70) AND WILL NOT LIVE LONG ENOUGH FOR THE SCARING AND INFECTION FACTOR TO BE VIABLE!!!!!"

I hope that you can find a pain doc that can help you because no one should suffer like this! I have had nerves burned out in order to relieve pain. I am so sorry that you are experiencing this. Those of us who have real pain do not abuse drugs. It is sad that others have made us all be treated like criminals when we take a prescription into the drug store.

Yep they mess it up for everybody that really needs meds to be out of pain and. some what deal wih every day life pain free but thanks to the dealers(street pharmacy ) , abusers & just plain old window lickers that will have window lickers kids. Because stupid. B****es abuse them when they are pregnant !!!! Real smart !

I also have a severe spinal issue and i know exactly what you mean. In times of very intense pain i would resort to smoking (very rarely) for an instant relief of the pain. Now with all of the damn junkies using this it is impossible to do even if taking it normally does help some it is not even nearly as much as i need it to help so I can live a normal functioning life. I even lost my job because of this bulls***.

It really saddens me to hear this. I too have major pain and had been taking OXY 20s ..6 a day. They changed them in Canada here to OXYNEO..same as OPs. I basically just chew them up REALLY fine and then swallow. They work the same as the old ones which I did snort sometimes when I NEEDED to. How is your situation now? and where are you situated? {edited for privacy}

Semper Fi I served in the core and did two tours to Iraq. I was hit by an RPG and paralyzed my right arm fracture vertebre in my neck concusion and partial amnesia. im sorry for your pain I know what its like I also had third degree burns on my back. I was in Fallujah. UM brother I don't feel like its junkies fault man. I blame the govt for trying to control everything we do. im prescribed oxy op 30mg plus hydrocodone 10 mg you liked to chew them to get a faster realease and I like insufflating them to get a faster release until I got the ops. So am I a junkie bc its the way that best helps my pain? even if they have no physical pain dosent mean mental pain is any less of pain. I also suffer from ptsd so should I take antidepressants as well as pain pills or just snort the one oxy and be fine? 1 pill verses 4 or 5 done the way I do it by snorting it cant be worse than taking all those other pills to.peopl have had bad things happen to them in life wether it be mentle or physical they should have a right to do what they want to make there self at peace. this is America were we fought for people to have freedom to live there life however they wish. of course people that commit crime to get drugs should be arrested but I know many of people that work hard to provide for there family and be good people and still use a lil money to enjoy a moment of serenity. just think about who is really to blame here our govt.

Once a Marine always a marine brother....chewing the green op 80s still works for me much faster and stronger for my knee injury than swallowing. But perhaps my tolerance is lower. I would recommend talking to your doctor about roxicodone. If I chew 2 blue 30mg roxy it will work within 5 minutes (mostly empty stomach)and feels way stronger than an op 80.

hello ive had serouis back problems since i was 14 yrs old. since then ive had rods and screws because i have 2 detorating disks, a fusion on my L4 and L5 and also someone elses bone replace. i had a tumor that was about 2 inches from my nervous system and could have been paralized. since then i was in a really bad car accident 2 yrs ago and now im in more pain then ever. i live in pa and need to find a dr. that cares. the dr that i have now doesnt want to see me and i just call in when i need my perscriptions.

This is also a reply to the brave Marine that fell out of a helicopter. First of all, thank you for your service. Now, I'm sure you hear that all the time but I would like to say thank you for giving me the opportunities I have everyday such as going to school and even just having a part-time job. Me saying thank you is nowhere near the thanks you you deserve for serving our country. I mean no disrespect towards you or your family but do you actually understand what the OP pill is made for? It's steady release of the Oxycontin which allows you to deal with your pain in moderation throughout the day.These OP pills can be prescribed in higher doses so that you may get a similar feeling to the instant release pills. Now you are right about junkies and kids who just want to get a high off of the medication, and, yes they are dumb as s*** for doing that to themselves, for many different reasons. But, if your pain is really as bad as you are making it out to be you need to see a pain specialist and probably start going to physical therapy. You can't rely on pain medications for your entire life, my friend. Addiction to pain killers is a far worse pain than falling from a helicopter. Over time it will not only turn your brain to mush but it will also turn your body and soul in to mush.
